y name is Alice and I am honoured to be one of the School Captains for this academic year. I am currently in my thirteenth and final year at Rossall studying A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology and am hoping to study medicine in the future. My Rossall journey began when I was just two years old, in the Nursery, where I met some of my closest friends whom I am still at school with today. The time I spent in the Prep School solidified my love of sports, maths and science which I still carry with me. I remember sitting in Chapel on Open Day 7 years ago when applying for a scholarship for Year 7. I remember admiring the Sixth Formers who spoke that day and aspiring to be just like them when I grew up. My one piece of advice would be to take every single opportunity which you possibly can, even if that means stepping outside your comfort zone. I am so happy that I have been able to do this during my time here and it means that I will be able to leave Rossall content in the fact that I have tried absolutely everything that Rossall has to offer. I am so grateful to have been given the chance to spend the last thirteen years studying at our amazing school. Rossall has allowed me to make friends from all over the world and I do not doubt that the friendships I have made here will last a lifetime. Rossall truly is like my second home and I could not have asked for a better place to grow up. - Alice Christy (Year 13, Dn)

ello, my name is Joe Davies. I joined Rossall six years ago and it is an immense honour and a privilege to serve this great place as School Captain for the academic year 2022/23, a position which I have strived towards since my time here began. On my first day at Rossall I was struck by the sincere sense of community and deep friendship which surrounds this wonderful place and it was from that day I was inspired to make a lasting impact on the rich and broad history of this school. A Rossall education gives a person the set of qualities which make anything possible: confidence, aspiration, the opportunity to experience diverse relationships and friendships and to be a part of an alumni network which spans across the length and breadth of the world making this education so very valuable. Rossall is unique, unlike other boarding schools because of its diverse and heart warming community, full of many different cultures and faiths and with nearly seventy different nationalities. This teaches a student compassion, understanding, tolerance and equips them for the challenges of the complex world which we live in. I developed the desire to become School Captain by seeing the passion exhibited by previous Captains. I recall numerous Prize Day speeches, the most memorable of which was from a School Captain named Téo Beaumé who used the phrase “Rossall is what you make it”. I found this inspirational, it is a phrase which has resonated with me and is something which I have strived to abide by throughout my time here by seizing every opportunity available to me. - Joe Davies (Year 13, SE)
