These multi-generational, interactive water environments offer a play experience like nothing else. During the hot summer months, splashpads are a great way to have fun while staying cool. Ask your local park and recreation department where there is a Vortex splashpad near you!
The Power of Play Located in Santa Rosa, California, Lattice Educational Services is a school for students with Autism and other developmental delays, as well as sensory and behavioral challenges. With roughly sixty students, Lattice was in need of a new play area designed specifically to serve the special needs of their students ages five to twenty-two. Ross Recreation was asked to assist through the design process to create an inclusive play environment that not just provided, but enhanced the development experience these kids gained from the playground. Ultimately, it was determined that utilizing independent play features rather than a large composite structure, would offer the highest play value, greater sensory-stimulating activities and accessibility. Just this last month, Ross Recreation was welcomed back to Lattice Educational Services to see how the students were enjoying their new Landscape Structures’ play equipment. Spending time with the students and watching their interaction with the new equipment and with each other was a great reminder

of how powerful inclusive and sensory play are to the development of children. The OmniSpin Spinner and the Roller Table were particularly popular, both of which promote socialization and optimal opportunities for interchangeable roles and group interaction, one of the critical skill sets Lattice teaches their students. The use of this play environment helps promote and create communication and socialization, teamwork and collaboration, motor skills and balance, all critical development skills for kids of any age and ability. The power of play! At Ross Recreation we are committed to helping create play spaces for children of all ages and abilities and are most grateful to have been part of Lattice’s new playground project. Over the last forty years, we have installed countless Universally Accessible Playgrounds and are proud to be involved such projects that help bring people, children and families of all abilities together.
