#WoodsYardPark In celebration of the recent opening of Woods Yard Park in San Francisco, here are a few images during the construction process of the new Landscape Structures’ Weevos playground. This project was a great collaboration with the community of San Francisco. Come visit and see for yourself!
The Art of Conservation With the current drought in California, the topic of water and resource conservation couldn’t be more important and more relevant than now. With communities continuing to recreate and their desire to enjoy the many facets a park setting can provide, the question is how can cities best serve their communities’ recreational needs while being cognizant of how best to manage their natural resources? One such challenge is the use of splash pads. Splash pads allow for multi-generational aquatic play and are one of the most used, and requested, amenities in park settings. These features, however, can require large amounts of water. The engineering of today’s water management systems, from efficient recirculating water systems to those that capture and re-purpose water for irrigation and other uses, provide cutting edge designs to best manage and conserve resources for splash pads and aquatic play areas. This attention to detail and design in water management, is one of the many reasons why Ross Recreation is proud to partner with Vortex Aquatic Structures. This partnership has led to many amazing projects, with the most recently completed Water Oasis play area at California’s Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park. What is unique about this project is that it was specifically themed and designed to teach children

through interactive and educational play, how to conserve water and the value of this natural resource. A hit with park guests, Gilroy Garden’s Water Oasis consists of various interactive water elements like the new Water Journeys as well as a custom water management system to most efficiently use and treat the water for the splash pad. Not only do we focus on how best to design efficient water management systems for splash pads, but Ross Recreation and our manufacturing partners excel at initiatives to recycle, reuse and conserve other resources. Utilizing surfacing products that contain recycled rubber and are recyclable after use, shade structures fitted with solar panels and internally, our paperless initiative to lessen print and paper use are just a few examples of concepts and initiatives we embrace to support and promote conservation and sustainability. We encourage long-term thoughtful design and product selection to best support efficient management and conservation of our natural resources to best provide our communities and generations of the future.
