International Latin American Poetry Festival As the RGV continues to flourish into a vibrant multicultural community, the Latin American Foundation for the Arts envisions to be a platform of world class cultural events. For the first time in Texas, the International Latin American Poetry Festival will take place in McAllen, TX from September 1-3, 2016 as a three day celebration of our rich heritage and cultural diversity. The Cooper Center for the Arts at STC Campus will host this event free of charge for all. More than 30 poets from the US, Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, Chile and many other Latin American countries selected from the current call for poets will gain access to a published anthology and an opportunity to present their talent on stage. Renowned authors Saul Ibargoyen, Antonieta Villamil, Julian Herbert, Armando Alanis, among others invited as featured poets will give our community a unique opportunity to meet them and listen to their message. Activities such as Workshops, Accion Poetica, Art Exhibits, Youth Poetry Contest will take place before the Festival to involve the community and give voice to it’s needs and yearnings. We believe Poetry acts as a unifying agent and is the light that allows us to hold hands in celebration of our culture. The online registration for poets is now open until April 1st. at www.feipol.us We recognize and appreciate our sponsors and the Mexican Consulate in McAllen that are making this Festival possible thanks to their support.
