Veteran journalist honoured
RC Mira Road, RID 3141, honoured Walter Alfred, aged 103, with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism at the club’s Annual Vocational Excellence Award.
PDG Sunnil Mehra honoured the veteran journalist in the presence of club president Dr Durgesh Aroor, vocational service director Vinod Shukla, and Alfred’s family.

Walter Alfred, who worked as a Press Trust of India (PTI) correspondent, has covered some of the most historic moments of the 20th century, from India’s Independence to Indira Gandhi declaring Emergency in 1975, as well as the India-Pakistan and Vietnam wars. His work as a journalist gave him the opportunity to meet several world leaders, including Jawaharlal Nehru, Pakistani PM General Ayub Khan and former Indonesian
