Benefits of using rainwater tanks 1. ROTO rainwater tanks are distinguished by requiring simple and cost efficient INSTALLATION, maintenance and cleaning. 2. The use of these tanks will reduce the use of water from the water distribution system and consequently SAVE costs in utility services up to €50 per month. 3. By collecting rainwater you can contribute to the PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT as the use of drinking water is reduced in this way. It also improves one’s water supply strategy and reduces one’s dependence on the water distribution system. The tanks are designed mostly for domestic use in households that do not have their own water distribution connection.
The ROTO Group comprises 10 companies with manufacturing facilities located in four European countries. The company is in private ownership and has been active in the domestic market as well as foreign markets for over 35 years as a successful manufacturer of plastic material products with the reputation of a reliable business partner.
4. WATER SUPPLY – enables own water supply and helps with watering gardens in dry periods when it is prohibited to use the water distribution system for such purposes. 5. SOFT WATER – rainwater is soft water, low in the calcium
which causes limescale, and therefore very suitable for washing textiles.
6. RAINWATER IS BETTER FOR GARDEN WATERING – Rainwater is rich in nutrients and does not contain chlorine, which means it is more suitable for watering flowers and plants than regular watering from the distribution system.
Save up to 65 litres of valuable drinking water per day
The production of over 4,000 products with a volume capacity of up to 25m3 and the annual processing of over 3 million kilos of polymers make ROTO one of the leading European companies using the rotomoulding manufacturing technology. Companies in the Group have recorded a 20% annual growth in revenues, which is the result of constant product development, investments in the update of manufacturing capacities, and good sales results recorded in all continents of the world. Through our own product development department and manufacture, we keep expanding our offering, and developing new products every year. On average, we generate two new products every week.
As with many other things today, the use of water is affected by measures tailored to care for the environment and reduce costs. Over the years, the use of water has constantly been on the increase. At the moment, the average daily water consumption is 130 litres per person, and that is mostly highly valuable drinking water! Only 2-3% of drinking water is used for cooking or drinking. When taking a bath, for instance, one uses three times the quantity of hot water when taking a shower.
The Roto Group’s competitive advantages are based on differentiation and flexibility, innovation brought to the marketing strategy, and good technological support offered to customers. We fill in the market gap occurring when a product is, at its stage of life cycle development, translated into mass production. Through functional design we increase the added value of our products and we also increase the quality of manufacture, offer sales services, fit plastic products with components that offer an integral solution to the problems tackled by our customers, and use intelligent materials and modern technologies in the process of manufacture.
Slovenia is abundant in high-quality drinking water. However, in 98% of cases, our requirements could be covered by non-drinking water (e.g. toilet flushing, washing machines, watering gardens and green surfaces, car washing, etc.). In a single day, one person could save up to 65 litres of valuable drinking water used for their water requirements just by replacing it with rainwater.

Water collection requires:
1. Water collection surface – a roof or natural well. 2. Collecting pipes (rain gutter) – rainwater is supplied from the roof through rain gutters and to the collecting pipe connected to the tank. The collecting pipe should be big enough to allow the collected water to run to the sand trap and the filter. 3. A sand trap – to catch fine gravel, leaves and sand. 4. A supply pipe leading from the sand trap to the water tank 5. A filter – this dictates cost efficient maintenance, allows for a simple cleaning process with no side effects. Requires constant and intense maintenance to avoid great water loss. All water flowing from the roof to the tank should be filtered. No additional filtering is required after that. 6. A polyethylene tank – The tank can be fitted with a fine filter, a connection, spill-over system, vacuuming system and, if required, connection pipes that can be used on multiple tanks.

Did you know? Rainwater can be used for all household requirements except as drinking water or in food preparation. The above figures show that a household will normally use only 2% of drinking water for actual drinking or cooking, which means rainwater can be used for all other purposes. Rainwater can be used for gardening, laundry washing, dish washing, car washing, as toilet water, etc. The average daily water consumption is 130 litres per person Car washing 3 litres Cooking / drinking 3 litres Dish washing 7 litres

About rainwater tanks • The average daily water consumption is 130 litres per person. • At least 50% of the daily quantity used in households could
be replaced by rainwater. This way, a 4-member household could save 95,000 litres of drinking water per year. • The tanks are made of polyethylene material, which is suitable for storing drinking water. • The thickness of the tank wall is from 6 to 12 mm. Owing to excellent statics characteristics and wall thickness, the tank is resistant to the outdoor wear and tear caused by soil pressure and diverse weather conditions, and has a very long life cycle. • When the water tank is used on grounds with high levels of groundwater it should be fitted with steel clamps which are then anchored to a concrete surface. • According to the Maribor Institute of Public Health, the tank material is suitable for storing drinking water or edibles. • The tanks are made of original (non-recycled) material. A polyethylene tank can be fully recycled.
Best Construction Industry Achievements Award – the 12,000 L polyethylene tank.
• A telescopic extension allows simple access to the filter and
tank interior. Its adjustability allows adaptation of the tank’s height according to the trench depth. • The tank is closed with a plastic cover. If the tank is placed under the ground, it should be sealed with a cover that can hold a point source pressure of up to 600 kg.

Household rainwater use systems HOUSEHOLD SET
Pressure line
Connection for the water distribution system
Vacuuming line
Application
Components:
The fully automated system makes sure you use rainwater in the house and garden, as toilet water, for the dishwasher and washing machine, for car washing, etc.
1. Household pump set (3 versions): • Grundfos (code 9137) - flow: 3 m3/h; max. pressure level: 15 m,
Operation This is a pre-prepared and built-in pump system ready to be connected to the building. A magnetic valve alternates the water source from the rainwater tank to the water distribution system if necessary (e.g. when the tank runs out of water), always giving priority to the tank water. The system is upgraded with a provisional tank used for the water distribution system as the latter is prohibited from being directly burdened with pressure pumps. The pump is cooled by means of cold water, which cannot be heard in other rooms.
7
max. service pressure: 7.5 bar; input power: 660 W
• DAB Active - Switch (code 9138) - flow: 4.8 m3 / h; max. pressure level: 42.2 m, max. service pressure: 6 bar; input power: 880 W
• DAB - Aquaprof Top (code 9139) flow: 4.8 m3 / h max. pressure level: 57.7 m, max. service pressure: 6 bar; input power: 1200 W 2. Provisional tank (used for system security purposes, so the water distribution network is not burdened).
3. A float switch fitted with a 15-metre cable. 4. A 15-metre vacuuming tube with a float bleed. 5. A stainless filter and nonreturn valve. 6. Mixing valve.
