By improving reuse of design data and collaboration among design team members, and by automating the design process, your company can shorten development cycles and get products to market faster. Autodesk® Productstream® software securely stores and manages engineering design data and related documents, and serves as the pipeline between different workgroups in the Digital Prototyping workflow. Productstream provides the tools to help users track and control design data, and complete projects on time and on budget. The result: fewer design iterations, increased design reuse, and improved collaboration. Productstream enables users to maximize their design time and focus on engineering, rather than managing data—all while helping to avoid the complexity and expense traditionally associated with other product data management systems.
Digital Pipeline Keep your designs digital to give everyone access to the most up-to-date information. Autodesk Productstream is the digital pipeline that connects departments—enabling users to review, change, and approve a design before releasing it to manufacturing.
Connect Workgroups Finish projects faster by enabling more engineers to work on the digital prototype without overwriting each other’s data. Autodesk CAD Integrations Manage all data associated with the digital prototype from engineering to manufacturing, saving time throughout the product development process. Make sure digital knowledge is captured and communicated effectively. Productstream is integrated with Autodesk manufacturing computer-aided design (CAD) applications such as Autodesk® Inventor,™ AutoCAD® Electrical, and AutoCAD® Mechanical software products.
Autoloader Rapidly add large quantities of design data and supporting documentation to the vault with minimal effort. The Autoloader utility provides tools to gather, analyze, prepare, and load existing Inventor, AutoCAD,® and flat files (PDF and TIF, for example). This tool helps users detect and repair duplicate Inventor files and missing references before adding files to the vault.
Multi-CAD Integrations Manage all engineering data throughout the product lifecycle. Autodesk Productstream supports multi-CAD environments and includes CAD integrations for the SolidWorks® and Pro/ENGINEER® software applications.
BOM History Review and use historical information to make educated decisions about designs. Date-specific filters enable users to view bills of materials (BOMs) for a specific date, current effective revision, or the default “today” view.
BOM Editing Maintain complete control over the BOM using a simple interface to manage materials, quantities, and other properties required for a design. Add, delete, or change BOM items and quantities to maintain an accurate BOM.
Property Management Maintain company standards and make sure users can reliably search and access data. Property mapping enables BOM attributes to be shared between Productstream and CAD applications. Administrators can create rules that define the format of properties and validate their integrity prior to design release.
BOM Compare Quickly identify the difference between two BOMs using graphical cues to view the history of earlier revisions. Automated Item Numbering Automatically assign a unique number to items based on your corporate part numbering scheme. Numbering formats can be sequential, predefined lists, delimited, and fixed or free text.
Search and Reuse The ability to quickly find and reuse design data can mean the difference between meeting project deadlines and incurring costly delays in the design process. Productstream delivers tools for efficient data reuse and selective copying of design data, which helps shorten product development time and avoid rework. Search Quickly find and access design data. Productstream provides basic or advanced search options for greater search granularity.
Saved Searches and Shortcuts Expedite frequently used searches by saving the criteria of a search to create favorite searches and shortcuts.
Full Content Search Quickly search through design and related information to find and reuse existing design information. Productstream enables advanced searching by automatically extracting and indexing the contents of AutoCAD files and Microsoft速 Word, Excel,速 and PowerPoint速 files.
Copy Design Save hours with powerful copy functionality that prevents users from having to re-create models and drawings. With Copy Design, users copy an entire design, including all related files. This process creates a new design from a proven design and provides the option to choose which files are copied and given new names, and which files are reused.
Search and Reuse
Rename Conform to naming and numbering conventions by quickly and easily renaming design files and supporting documents. With the rename feature, users can rename files stored in the vault using predefined naming schemes without breaking design dependencies between existing files, and export a complete report to document the process.
Uses/Where Used Understand the impact of changing a design before committing to the change. Analyze where specific files and items (CAD and non-CAD) have been used across multiple assemblies, drawings, and BOMs.
Manage Change Shorten change and release processes to make a positive impact on your product development process. Productstream automates notification—helping to reduce cycle time and improve the communication of crucial digital knowledge. Automated ECO Track, audit, and monitor engineering change orders; remove process bottlenecks; and improve the efficiency of the engineering change process. Automated engineering change orders (ECOs) enable designers to approve or deny changes to affected items and associated files before they are released to manufacturing.
Lifecycle State Control Track and communicate product lifecycle information using a built-in scheme (Work in Progress, In Review, Released, Obsolete) to make sure that designs are not released before final approval. Productstream can be configured to automatically increment a revision when lifecycle state changes occur.
ECO Routing Automated routing of electronic ECOs means decision makers can review and approve the most current information and release designs to manufacturing in less time.
Version Management Track design data and prevent overwriting of good designs. Manage file versions for assemblies, parts, and drawings along with all related documents. Users can also get previous or latest versions and perform “Where Used” and “Uses” analyses.
Revision Management A formal release process creates a historical record and captures design revision history for traceability purposes. Control and review the history of design data using flexible revision schemes.
Configuration With flexible and robust administrative functionality, Productstream provides system administrators with crucial security, configuration, and disaster recovery mechanisms to meet the stringent requirements of your IT department.
Backup and Restore Avoid system downtime during backup and restore operations. Productstream enables system backup while users are connected.
Users and Groups Securely control data access and interaction by assigning users to groups and roles. Specify further control through folder-based permissions. System permissions can be implemented quickly and easily by limiting access to design information based on need and job function.
Flexible Roles Gain enhanced security through more granular control over user permissions. Productstream provides administrators with more preconfigured roles and enables compounding of roles.
Windows Authentication Administrators can control user and group permissions through integration with Microsoft Active Directory.速
Collaborate and Share Extend the value of your digital prototypes by sharing design data with other team members and business systems throughout the enterprise. Productstream provides the capabilities to securely share your designs down the hall or around the world.
Multisite Synchronize design data across multiple sites and gain local access to the latest updates. Productstream’s replication capabilites help companies synchronize distributed file stores among design workgroups. Web Client Improve collaboration by providing earlier access to design data with web-based access to query, view, and print designs. View and Markup Quickly review and mark up designs with Autodesk® Design Review software—the digital way to view, measure, mark up, and track changes to designs—to reduce communication errors in design reviews. With Productstream, drawings are automatically watermarked according to lifecycle state.
Standard Integrations to Business Systems Integrate Productstream with existing business systems to make design information available for downstream users. Integration provides connectivity to existing enterprise resource planning and product lifecycle management applications, including Microsoft Dynamics™ AX and GP, SAP® R/3, Teamcenter,® and MatrixOne Software. SharePoint Integration Leverage Productstream as the source for all product information and share the digital knowledge with the extended enterprise via SharePoint® technology. Publish design data to SharePoint to extend the value of the digital prototype.
Batch Plot Reduce time spent on administrative tasks by using the Batch Print/Plot Manager. Create, manage, and reuse print or plot jobs for all managed files with full support for watermarking and stamping.
