here are thousands of charities in the UK but one of the most unique is Hounds for Heroes which provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled Armed Forces and emergency service personnel. Based in Petersfield, a small team trains the hounds and deals with applications for assistance dogs. Hounds for Heroes is the only assistance dog charity which fully funds the cost of the dog for the eight years with its human partner, including food, veterinary and insurance costs. Dogs are trained to assist with general needs as well as bespoke tasks to suit the individual and can be trained to respond to speech and hand commands. Allen said: “Hounds for Heroes is our chance of giving people the same chances I had.
