Acta Borealia is a multi-disciplinary scientific journal for cultural studies. The journal presents results from basic research on northern societies, including reviews of new books about the north. The contributing authors are mainly from the Nordic countries, but also from other countries performing research on circumpolar societies. The journal publishes articles in such disciplines as history, archaeology, social anthropology, ethnography, geography and linguistics. Acta Borealia is edited by a group of scholars at the University of Tromsø, and is the only journal dedicated exclusively to a multidisciplinary, comparative focus on circumpolar societies. Topics of primary concern are: • ethnic relations • settlement patterns and developments • economy • political, cultural and social phenomena from prehistoric times to the recent past

In addition to its focus on French and Francophone studies, one of the journal's primary objectives is to reflect the interdisciplinary direction taken by the field and by the humanities and the arts in general. CF&FS is published five times per year, with four issues devoted to particular themes, and a fifth issue, “The Open Issue” welcoming non-thematic contributions.

Debatte: Journal of Contemporary Central and Eastern Europe seeks to provide a radical critical analysis that is sympathetic to democratic, labour, feminist and ecologist movements from contemporary economic, social, cultural and political perspectives and developments in the region bounded by Germany in the west and Russia in the east. We are particularly interested in all writing on the social, cultural, and political life of Germany and Eastern Europe which connects the specific problems of the region with the wider issues of world order, globalisation, and inequality. We are looking to combine political commitment, academic rigour, contemporary relevance, stylistic accessibility, and journalistic flair in order to create the kind of publication that straddles the boundaries between academia and social/political debate; addressing itself equally to specialist scholars in the field of Central European Studies, political activists, journalists, teachers, and other interested readers.

European Security
European Security is a forum for discussing challenges and approaches to security within the region as well as for Europe in a global context. The journal seeks to publish critical analyses of policies and developments in European institutions and member states, their relations with European and other immediate neighbours, and their relations with the wider world, including other regional and international organisations. It is also interested in non-European perspectives on Europe in a global context.
German Politics Journal of the International Association for the Study of German Politics (IASGP)
www.tandf.co.uk/journals/germanpolitics
German Politics
Since its launch in 1992, German Politics has established itself as the leading international journal in its field. Its mission is to provide theoretically informed perspectives on the changing agendas of German Politics. It engages with themes that connect Germany comparatively with other states – the challenges of globalisation, changes in international relations, and the widening and deepening of the European Union. It also links work on Germany to wider debates and issues in comparative politics, public policy, political behaviour, and political theory.
The International Spectator
www.tandf.co.uk/journals/rspe
The International Spectator
The International Spectator, established in 1965, is a peerreviewed international affairs journal. The International Spectator aims to provide academics, practitioners, opinion- and decisionmakers, and interested laymen with thought-provoking and policyoriented essays, opinions, and book reviews on a wide spectrum of foreign policy issues. The two kinds of articles published - the shorter "opinions" on topics of major current interest, and the more analytical and scholarly "essays" - undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial in-house screening and anonymous refereeing by at least two reviewers. Authors come from a broad geographic range, particularly European, North American, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries. Geographically, The International Spectator covers areas of ongoing international concern with an emphasis on regions and countries adjacent to Italy, especially the Balkans, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The focus is on European and transatlantic policies in these areas as well as on regional cooperation and initiatives.

Included in the Thomson Reuters’ Social Sciences Citation Index® The region of the Balkans and the Near East has assumed an important geo-political and global economic significance since the end of the Cold War. This territory, which includes old and new nation-states of the former Ottoman Empire and Soviet Union, stands at the crossroads of an expanding West (NATO, the EU) and a re-emerging East (Russia, China, India). A focus on the Balkans and the Near East in a more globalized world must involve the re-examination of widely held assumptions, modern historical claims, and political, economic and security assertions concerning the nation-states of Southeastern Europe and the Near East. In this context, the Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies seeks to address, in an historical and theoretically-informed manner, the complex historical, economic, political, diplomatic, cultural and security issues that confront the region, in the light of such important developments as the process of European integration, the evolution of NATO, and the more general changes in the international governance system after the end of the Cold War in Eurasia and the terrorist attacks on the United States on 11th September 2001.

Journal of Baltic Studies Journal of the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies
www.tandf.co.uk/journals/rbal
The Journal of Contemporary European Studies (previously Journal of European Area Studies) seeks to provide a forum for interdisciplinary debate about the theory and practice of area studies as well as for empirical studies of European societies, politics and cultures. The central area focus of the journal is European in its broadest geographical definition. However, the examination of European ‘areas’ and themes are enhanced as a matter of editorial policy by non-European perspectives. The journal intends to attract the interest of both cross-national and single-country specialists in European studies and to counteract the worst features of Eurocentrism with coverage of non-European views on European themes.

Journal of Baltic Studies
The Journal of Baltic Studies, the official journal of the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS), is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal for the purpose of advancing the accumulation of knowledge about all aspects of the Baltic Sea region's political, social, economic, and cultural life, past and present. Preference is given to original contributions that are of general scholarly interest.
Journal of European Integration
The main purpose of the Journal of European Integration is to serve a wide readership which implies that articles should be of a general rather than a specific or specialised nature. In other words, the emphasis should be on scholarly work and submissions should provide explanations about the process of integration in a historical or comparative fashion. Given the interdisciplinary nature, authors are encouraged to write in a clear and accessible style.
www.tandf.co.uk/journals/jei
Journal of European Integration
The Journal of European Integration publishes articles with a focus on European integration and an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary perspective, thus integrating politics, European political economy, law, history, and sociology. European integration is understood as pan-European rather than as merely the EU, though the bulk of contributions might be devoted to the latter. It also presents comparative studies of federalism, other forms of regional integration, and articles dealing with EU external relations, whether in the trade or security policy field.

Mediterranean Politics Included in the Thomson Reuters’ Social Sciences Citation Index®
The journal analyses the central issues that concern Mediterranean countries and assesses both local and international responses to them. While its prime concern is with political developments, the focus of Mediterranean Politics extends to all the factors and dimensions affecting political life. These include social movements and issues, regional and domestic conflicts, the political economy of the Mediterranean, migration, political reform processes and issues of cultural identity. The journal does not accept articles on historical subjects that lack direct contemporary linkage, or general economics articles with a Mediterranean context.
Mediterranean Politics
Mediterranean Politics is the only refereed academic journal to focus on the politics, international relations and political economy of the entire Mediterranean area – ‘Mediterranean’ here being understood to refer to all those countries whose borders are defined partially or wholly by the Mediterranean Sea. This focus involves consideration not only of the region itself, but also the significance of developments there for other parts of the world.

Southeast European and Black Sea Studies
Included in the Thomson Reuters Social Sciences Citation Index® The aim of the journal is to establish a line of communication with these regions of Europe. Previously isolated from the European mainstream, the Balkan and Black Sea regions are in need of serious comparative study as are the individual countries, no longer ‘at the edge’ of Europe. The principal disciplines covered by the journal are politics, political economy, international relations and modern history; other disciplinary approaches are accepted as appropriate. The journal will take both an academic and also a more practical policy-oriented approach and hopes to compensate for the serious information deficit on the countries under consideration. It provides a unique opportunity to establish a new paradigm of analysis for the region and one that attempts to break away from the traditional ethnocentric approaches and develop a deeper and more fruitful understanding of the area.

Britain and Europe
A Comparative Introduction
A Political History Since 1918
By José Magone, Berlin School of Economics, Germany The unification of the European continent since the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989 and the collapse of communist regimes in central and eastern Europe has changed the nature of European politics. This book addresses the new European politics that emerged out of this coming together of west and east. In the book a pan-European comparative approach is used to analyse the different political systems which includes chapters on the history, theory, institutions, parties and party systems, interest groups, systems of interest intermediation and civil society, the impact of European public policy and the emergence of a European common and foreign policy. By N.J. Crowson, University of Birmingham, UK This textbook provides a comprehensive account of Britain’s uneasy relationship with continental Europe from 1918 to the present day. Unlike other books on the subject, the author considers 'Europe' in its broadest sense and examines a wider history than just Britain's relations with the European Union (EU). This includes pre-war history and the role of key political institutions outside the EU such as the Council of Europe and the Western European Union. Understanding E-Government in Europe Issues and Challenges Edited by Paul G. Nixon, The Hague University, the Netherlands Vassiliki N. Koutrakou, University of East Anglia, UK and Rajash Rawal This volume critically explores the contentions in the emerging debate surrounding new media technologies and the extent to which they are challenging traditional political and government models. Examining a range of citizen/government interactions which together form e-government in different contexts, this book assesses the potential of new media technologies to facilitate new institutional patterns for governance and participation, as experienced primarily, but not only, across Europe. Analysing a range of challenges spanning from those of a technological and conceptual nature to those of a more political and legal nature, the authors scrutinise the central policies at governmental and organisational levels and offer insights of relevance to practitioners and policy-makers in regional, national, and transnational governance, reform and innovation. The Official History of North Sea Oil and Gas Vol. I: The Growing Dominance of the State Vol. II: Moderating the State’s Role By Alex Kemp, University of Aberdeen, UK
Series: Government Official History Series Written by the leading expert in the history of UK energy, this two volumes provide new, in-depth analysis of the development of UK petroleum policies towards the North Sea based on full access to the Government’s relevant archives. It discusses in detail the controversies over the early gas contracts with the Gas Council/British Gas, the decision to found the British National Oil Corporation (BNOC) and state control over the depletion and disposal of North Sea oil. The introduction of special taxation (Petroleum Revenue Tax and Supplementary Petroleum Duty) to increase the state’s share is covered at length. The lively debate over the use of the benefits of the large North Sea oil revenues is also chronicled. Following the election victory of the Conservative Government in 1979, the gradual dismantling of state intervention and the privatization of BNOC and British Gas are discussed. The major effects on the Scottish economy, the response of British industry to the opportunity, and the evolving health, safety and environmental issues (including the Piper Alpha disaster) are dealt with in depth. Many new insights into the evolving policies in all these areas are revealed. The Official History of North Sea Oil and Gas will be of interest to students of North Sea oil, energy economics, business history, and British politics.
