TIRANA ARCHITECTURE W O RKSH O P Small Buildings I Big Changes InfoPoint in Theth, Albania

TERRITORIAL ANALYSIS

-It is a village in the north o f Albania, located 2500 m abo ve see level. -Because o f th is co ndition the w eather is extrem e w ith tem peratures that g o e s -20 C and sno w level from 1.5m to 5m . -Sum m er is a very sho rt season from 60 days to 160. -The population o f Theth go e s from 200 in winter to 1200 du ring summer. -Average age in Theth is 35 and it suffers from y o u n g peo ple m igration. -Because o ff the bad weather an d no com m unica tion m ost o f the population m oves to Shkodra in winter. -A nd in sum m er to ge the r w ith the inhabitant com e a great flu x o f tourists. -Inhabitants have different skills but are m ostly kin o n handcrafts and agriculture products.

DlSTANCEBETWEENEACH CENTRE

TERRITORIAL PROPOSAL -This village Is a main attraction for tourists, but because of the natural isolation and lack of communication, it doesn't have human and physical condition to serve them. -5igns o f orientation, a health centre, turist guides and most o f the time even electric energy are basic needs. So moveing around for a turists can get pretty rough. -Our proposal is to create three main instalation along the tourists path o f 10km to Theth with a 3km distance between them. -The main building is in the entrance of Theth, will be permanently and functions for infocentre, education and entertainment for people who live there and also for the tourists. -The second and third building will be temporary only for summer time.Their function will be to serve as information points and complete basic needs.

U n d u e T h p th i

ARCHITECTURAL PROPOSAL -Our main object is to create an easy modul that can be creat ed b y the locals with local materials as much as possible. So this is why we designed an "L"shape form with gabion boxes filled with rockesSo people take this prefabricated boxes and fill them to create various buildings that are easily arrangeable acording to the needs. For other parts o f the building will be used wood as for the floor, windows, doors and for the tilings too. For example the batherooms walls are made o f wood because this way is easier for agregation o f the models. -The focus is the main buliding witch will be permanent. We have decided that in this case we will use the "1“ modul not with gabion boxes but with real stone walls. -Because of the snow there is an 1m high stone basement 720x600cm.The building it is 6x6m and it has a tipical Theth roof to avoid the snow. -Each fasede is divided in three sections by 2 m each that will be 2 stone section and in the middle a section with stumps that will hold a window. The wall thickness will be 60cm and 3m high. The roof is tipical 2m high, constructed with a capriate and will be used as storage. -There is also a buffer zone where it is located the toilet and the entrance.ln case o f aggregation an other modul will join to the buffer, which will become a common hallway. The roof gets out with 60 cm so it covers only half o f the toilet this why the toilet has a second roof with a little inclination. -The inside it is a single space and thanks to some panels can be devide acording to the needs. This panels can be o f wood ore any other materials and if they are not needed you can just assemble them and have the full space free.To prevent the cold com eing in from the holes of the stumps in the winter it can be used a thin plastic isolator

General Local Plan of Gramsh and Belsh Munici

Proposed concept for the development of Gramsh and Belsh Municipalities aims to harmonize economic, infrastructural and spatial development with the protection of natural resources, the mitigation of social inequalities, and the promotion of the intellectual development of society. These are solid foundations that guarantee that the whole community benefits today, inheriting at the same time to future generations a healthy and self-renewing territory and environment, alongside sustainable economic and social development.

ALBAN IAN RIVIERA _ IDENTITY OF BORSH This project focuses on the character of a coastal-rural landscape in the touristic village at Harsh, South Albania where the landscape infrastructure has been developedfor tourism reasons. The alluvial field of Harsh is a picturesque aspect which is surrounded by o mountainous arch in the northeast and south, creating the image ot an amphitheater, the visitor's attention is drawntoward the Sopot mountain where is situated the Sopot Castle high an a hill above Ihe newvillage. This hill extends an Hie northern and western side and the river nf Bnrsh mother strong paint ot Borsh runs through the hill’s feet and flows by the village of Fierce and Borsh and ends np in the Ionian Sea, Nat forgeting also that Bnrsh is knownfor its olive production with hundreds of hectares nf olive plantationthat still exist in many states of usage. Lost but not least, there is also a great asset; 1he sea.... Ihe inhabitotns of Borsh lire mainly on seasonal tourism and agriculture products. Apart Iromthese slrnng points there are some weak spats that affect Ihe landscape and tourism development of Bnrsh. As it may be seen by the mapthe river of Borsh has been degraded. The non existence af laws that protect themcompanies took advantage of the opportunity by pvlting machines near Hie rivers and exploiting sand and gravel without any criteria. This caused a shattering of the river, flooding during the rainy months {since it is u seasonal liver, dried in the summer) causing itto fall fromfhe bedto demolish quite a lot of agricultural lands and mens inhabited ainund it. Also this negative action caused an extinction of Ihe vegetation that grew along Hie liver and o slump of natural paths that made the connection of the river to Hie great olive grove. At least, Borsh also has some nonfunctional oc seasonal (wafer channels) iirigalion systems, being used as a tool to manage water usage of agricultural community. This systems, except that Ihey have the function of dispersing water an agricultural land (fhal today this land is not cultivated hut it is praductable) they also are (nonfunctional) paths that doesn't connect the community inhabitants or tourists.
