Lisa Richardson
Popular knitwear designer Lisa Richardson is a name instantly associated with the Rowan pattern house. Lisa joined Rowan in 2003, and, after years of turning her hand to many different roles and tasks as part of the design process, is now a celebrated and well established designer in her own right. Inspired by shape and texture, Lisa’s designs showcase interesting stitch details, unique garment structure and stylish techniques with a classically understated, yet innovative brilliance which is reflected in the global status she now commands. In addition to Lisa’s designer role, she also manages the pattern editing process and mentors newer members of the design team, whilst managing to squeeze in time to enjoy running, climbing, biking, swimming, cooking, dancing and reading. Lisa admits to leading a very busy day-to-day existence, but cites her biggest drive as helping people create something that they will cherish for years to come, demonstrating why she is so integral to the Rowan design process.

Felted Tweed 50% Wool 25% Alpaca 25% Viscose 10 x 50g balls per pack approx 15m (191yds) per ball Felted Tweed* is a blend of merino wool, alpaca and viscose and knits to a dk weight. The yarn has a beautiful tweed effect perfect for fairisles, striping and other colour work and the rustic colour palette makes this yarn a firm favourite with our designers.

The Location
The shoot venue for the Lisa Richardson Designer Collection was selected as much for its location as for its heritage and beauty. Sitting on an idyllic valley side on the outskirts of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, the park is steeped in local tradition and seemed the obvious choice to showcase the settings surrounding Rowan’s new home; Armitage Bridge. Beaumont Park was officially opened on Saturday 13th October 1883 by HRH Prince Leopold and his wife Princess Helene and the town witnessed a lavish occasion to mark its first royal visit. The idea was born from the opinion of local landowner Henry F. Beaumont that, “Parks are necessary for large and populous towns to increase the happiness and promote good health and elevate the minds of the people.” He offered the area of Dungeon Wood to Huddersfield Corporation so that they were able to create the town’s first public park, which is still popular today and plays home to hundreds of species of insects, animals and vegetation.
