Regular, simple efforts can help reduce litter in our community. Pick some up along your morning walk or on your way out from a day at the beach.

Organize An Event

The more the merrier! Invite friends, family and community members to spend some time on a beach cleanup. You’ll get more done with more hands to contribute.

Paint The Town

Identify areas in the community that could use some sprucing up. Reach out to local officials for permission and gather some friends, paint and supplies to beautify your city.

Highlighting his greatest challenge in his campaign, Wagner referenced his party affiliation.

“People like to know if you’re a Democrat or Republican, and most Destin residents lean strongly Republican,” he said. “It’s (tempting) to go with what you know will be favorable in the eyes of most voters, but I’m a registered nonparty affiliate. I’m not here for politics. I’m here for people. That’s where my heart truly is, and party doesn’t matter as much at the city level as it does in larger elections.”

Wagner remaining true to his political roots in turn proved to be a strength, as Destin residents voted in favor of a mayor who sticks to their ideals.

Find small areas in your life where you can cut back on waste and usage. Repurpose old sauce jars for storage or create a fun DIY project. Regular and intentional recycling can help reduce waste.
