Sustaining a City's Culture and Character Principles and Best Practices By Charles R. Wolfe
February 2021 288 pages Hardback 9781538133248 £50.00 / $65.00
For those who seek an urbanism of distinctiveness to enhance city livability, rather than a bland, generic uniformity, the book examines on a global basis how the many interrelated facets of an urban area’s unique, yet dynamic context—built, cultural and intangible—can be championed and advanced, rather than simply borrowed from another place.
Charles R. Wolfe is a London-based, multinational urbanism consultant, author, visiting scholar in Sweden, recent Fulbright specialist in Australia for an award-winning project, and long-time American environmental/land use lawyer. He holds a graduate degree in regional planning and has 34 years of experience in environmental, land use, and real estate law. He has held leadership posi tions in both the legal and planning professions. He has represented public and private clients in property redevelopment, regulatory entitlements, drafting and brownfield remediation issues in Washington State and other venues. The Queer Bookishness of Romanticism Ornamental Community By Michael E. Robinson
January 2021 244 pages Hardback 9781793607935 £81.00 / $105.00
This book explores and theorizes Romantic bookishness, arguing that “bookish” names a queer practice and discourse at the margins of Romantic authorship and reading. Ornamental communities focused on books played an antithetical role to the twinned, spiritualizing ideologies of sexuality and authorship in Romanticism and its Victorian reception .
Michael Robinson is lecturer in the writing and rhetoric department at the University of Rhode Island.

Voices from the Favelas Media Activism and CounterNarratives from Below By Fernanda Amaral
March 2021 198 pages Hardback 9781538147436 £85.00 / $110.00
This book offers a unique perspective as it presents a comparative analysis of favela representation in mainstream media and social networks, addressing the criminalization of the favelas in the media as a critical factor in the process of legitimizing structural violence, and offering a critical reflection on the work of favela media activists.
Fernanda Amaral is a researcher at LEMRI (UFRJ/BRAZIL) and Media Discourse Centre (DMU, UK) and holds a doctorate in Media Discourse from De Montfort University. Her work focuses on the representation of the favelas in the media and the use of social networks as counterpublics.
