Calling all classrooms! The Royal BC Museum and HSBC want you to take advantage of Your Museum’s unique learning environment. Thanks to the HSBC, K-5 school groups can visit for only $10 per class. Experience docent guided, curriculum-based and interactive programs. Book your group early to secure your spot! Maximum 30 students unless otherwise noted. Program times are flexible and we may be able to accommodate special requests.

Self-Guided Visits
Journey through the wet and wild habitats of our province to explore new species and their effect on our ecological balance. Aliens (no, not that kind) are among us … in the ocean, in our estuaries and in our forests.
There is no charge for self-guided school visits of the permanent galleries or Wildlife Photographer of the Year. In order to be eligible for complimentary admission, BC schools must pre-book with a minimum of two business days notice, and have a minimum chaperone ratio of 1 adult for every 5 students (grades K – 8) and 1 adult for every 10 students (grades 9 – 12). $14.40 for additional adults.

Before hardware stores and shopping malls, First Peoples made tools to produce everything they needed. What materials did they use? What objects were made? How did they make them? Follow the clues from objects unearthed during BC’s archeological digs to this creative and innovative time.

Our Changing Climate
Simon Fraser: Explorer and Fur-Trader Grades 4–5
Simon Fraser, BC’s ‘founding father’, is best known for his daring exploration of the river that bears his name. Explore a variety of artifacts that were traded between the Europeans and First Peoples, and learn the importance of bartering during that period.

Introduce students to the causes and consequences of climate change. Look at weather forecasting, weather maps and clouds. Past and present climates of BC are examined as well as human contributions and possible solutions to climate change.

Self-conducted visits to Race to the End of the Earth will be subject to an admission fee of $9.00 per student, adult supervisors are free at the chaperone ratios noted above. $19.44 for additional accompanying adults.
