This autumn at the RCM you can explore the Britten exhibition in our Museum of Music (see below), enjoy days devoted to his songs, solo works and chamber music, and revel in two major orchestral works: his joyous Spring Symphony and youthful Sinfonia da Requiem, brought vividly to life by visiting conductors David Hill and John Wilson. We finish – appropriately for the place where the young Britten was a pupil – with performance of his Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra by the RCM Philharmonic.

FOOD AND DRINK
The RCM Museum of Music’s special exhibition marks the centenary of Britten, who came to study at the RCM in 1930. It was here that he completed some of his early masterpieces, including his Sinfonietta op 1, which you can hear performed in our Britten Theatre on Tuesday 19 November. This exhibition, curated by the RCM’s resident Britten expert Professor Paul Banks, explores Britten’s time at the RCM, as well as his enduring legacy.
The RCM offers a range of pre-performance and interval refreshments and a selection of light snacks for those attending evening events in the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall and the Britten Theatre. These are served between 6.00pm and 9.00pm (5.00pm for early evening performances) in the Britten Theatre Bar or the RCM Foyer Bar.
The RCM Museum of Music is open Tuesday to Friday (11.30am – 4.30pm) and is free to visit.
