CLARA’S CIRCLE This year’s Keyboard Festival explores the music of Clara Schumann and her contemporaries. Born 200 years ago, Clara was a distinguished pianist and composer whose long life both witnessed and influenced the fast-changing musical landscape of the 19th century. We play some of her solo piano music and songs, as well as the works she performed in her career as a concert pianist. We also tell the stories of her friendships with Chopin, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Liszt, as well as Clara’s passionate relationship with Robert Schumann. Professor Vanessa Latarche Chair of International Keyboard Studies and Head of Keyboard Associate Director for Partnerships in China Royal College of Music This event will be streamed live at www.rcm.ac.uk/live The Senior Common Room will be open 10.30am–6.30pm serving a range of sandwiches, snacks and beverages. Clara’s Circle is curated by Ian Jones, Deputy Head of Keyboard. Special thanks must be given to the following people for their support in the organisation of the festival. Thank you everyone!
