KEYBOARD FESTIVAL

Sunday 2 May 2021 | from 11am

Old, New, Borrowed and Blue

OLD, NEW, BORROWED AND BLUE The RCM Keyboard Faculty is delighted to present Old, New, Borrowed and Blue, as this year’s theme for our popular Keyboard Festival. Under normal circumstances we would welcome you to the College with open arms, however, with the power of digital and cameras, we are thrilled to be able to stream our students live from the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall. Today, we feature over 50 students who will demonstrate a range of styles and technical keyboard wizardry, from the early works of Italian composer Girolamo Frescobaldi, to the baroque master Louis Couperin, through to contemporary composers György Ligeti and Unsuk Chin, who wrote highly significant sets of 20th-century études. There is something for all keyboard lovers, and we look forward to presenting Old, New, Borrowed and Blue showcasing the RCM’s magnificent concert grands by Steinway and the newly commissioned Kennedy-Mietke harpsichord. Old, New, Borrowed and Blue is curated by Andrew Zolinsky, Piano professor and Contemporary Piano Co-ordinator, and Danny Driver, Piano professor. Special thanks must be given to the following people for their support in the organisation of the festival.
