Dir: Juliano Dornelles, Kleber Mendonça Filho I Brazil/France I 2019 131 mins I (18) I In Portuguese and English with English subtitles Set in a fictional Brazilian village, Bacurau is a wild genre-bending satire, skewering not only Brazil’s complex political situation but the impact of American imperialism and modernisation. PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE

Dir: Céline Sciamma I France I 2019 I 120 mins I (15) I In French and Italian with English subtitles Céline Sciamma‘s (Girlhood) sensual Portrait Of A Lady On Fire won the Queer Palm and Best Screenplay at Cannes 2019. This enigmatic drama tells the story of a female painter who must secretly paint a wedding portrait of a young woman, but when the two form a deep-seated love it threatens to shatter both of their realities. Dir: Niki Caro I USA I 2020 I TBC I (Cert. TBC) Filmmaker Niki Caro (North Country) adapts the beloved Disney classic, Mulan, into this irresistible live-action adventure for a contemporary audience. Yifei Liu stars as the titular Chinese maiden, who disguises herself as a male warrior in order to save her father from being drafted into the military to ward off the Hun invasion. Jet Li, Donnie Yen and Li Gong co-star.

ONWARD

Dir: Dan Scanlon I USA I 2020 I TBC I (Cert. TBC) From the producers behind Toy Story, Ratatouille and Coco comes Onward, a dazzling new vision and extraordinary family tale. Everyone is welcome at our Relaxed Screenings. The screenings are subtly adapted to create a welcoming environment for people with a range of conditions in the neuro-diverse community and for those who prefer a more relaxed cinema experience. There will be no adverts or trailers before the film and we’ll turn down the sound and keep the lights at a low level. Audience members will be able to move around the screen and make noise, and there will be a safe space for customers to use if they need to leave the screening. Tickets are the standard price and families are welcome at age-appropriate screenings.
