There’s a controversial new president in the White House and racial tensions are on the rise. It is Pittsburgh, 1969, and the regulars of Memphis Lee’s restaurant are struggling to cope with the turbulence of a rapidly changing world. The diner is in threat of being torn down, a casualty of the city’s renovation project that is sweeping away the buildings of a community, but not its spirit.

Sleeping Beauty Coppélia Swan Lake Performed by The Russian State
Ballet of Siberia Accompanied by The Orchestra of the Russian State Ballet Join us for the much-anticipated return of the spectacular Russian State Ballet Of Siberia for their new 2020 season, brought to life by magical special effects. Sleeping Beauty, the classic story of love and innocence, mystery and magic, is set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime score. Stunning choreography, sumptuous costumes and wonderful sets form the fantasy world in which the Lilac Fairly struggles against the evil Carabosse. Coppélia is a witty combination of antics and abracadabra, set in a doll maker’s workshop. This light-hearted tale of mistaken identity and confused lovers follows mischievous Swanilda, her impetuous suitor Franz and the eccentric toymaker Dr. Coppelius as they are brought to life by sparkling choreography and the animated score of Delibes. Coppélia is perfect for first-time ballet goers, families and everyone in between. Tchaikovsky’s haunting score is at the heart of the greatest romantic ballet of all time, Swan Lake. This tale of tragic romance features the iconic dual role of the temptress in black, Odile and the swan queen, Odette in one of ballet’s most unmissable technical challenges.

A gripping portrait of life in wartime Berlin and a vividly theatrical study of how paranoia can warp a society gripped by the fear of the night-time knock on the door. Based on true events, Hans Fallada’s Alone In Berlin follows a quietly courageous couple, Otto and Anna Quangel who, in dealing with their own heartbreak, stand up to the brutal reality of the Nazi regime. With the smallest of acts, they defy
Hitler’s rule with extraordinary bravery, facing the gravest of consequences. Adapted by Alistair Beaton (Feelgood, The Trial Of Tony Blair) and directed by Artistic Director James Dacre (Our Lady Of Kibeho, The Pope) this timely story of the moral power of personal resistance sees the Gestapo launch a massive hunt for the perpetrators and Otto and Anna finding themselves players in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

The ancient myth of Blodeuwedd describes a woman made out of flowers who was turned into an owl as punishment for adultery. But who was this woman before she was confined to the pages of a medieval book?
Aled Jones and Russell Watson, two of the world’s greatest classical voices, released their debut album In Harmony in 2018 and now they take to the stage together for their first joint UK and Ireland tour.
Fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe, contemporary storyteller Jo Blake explores this figure through word, movement and ritual in a performance intertwined with personal experience and striking observations of the role of myth in our modern lives.
As two of the classical world’s vocal powerhouses, Aled and Russell have received countless prestigious awards, record-breaking sales and chart successes. Don’t miss the chance to see them perform together.

Britain’s Got Talent finalist, star of BBC Radio 4’s acclaimed Citizen Of Nowhere, as featured on QI, The Apprentice: You’re Fired, News Quiz and The Now Show, Daliso Chaponda returns to Royal & Derngate. There’s also the small matter of family member arrests, exploding buildings in his home country and the enterprising Malawian who tried to blackmail him.
Growing up in a house where Country and Western music filled the air, Nathan was exposed to the classic songs of Johnny Cash, Don Williams and Dolly Parton. From the tender age of four years old, not only did he learn to play guitar, piano and accordion, which play a vital part in his live show, but Nathan quickly became head chorister in the Liverpool Boys choir where he toured the world and even performed in front of the Pope in Rome.

COUNT ARTHUR STRONG
KEVIN BLOODY WILSON
THU 7 NOVEMBER 8PM
A long time ago, a long way from anywhere, in a West Australian mining town called Kalgoorlie, the legend of Kevin Bloody Wilson was born. It all started innocently enough – just a guy with too much time on his hands changing the words to other people’s songs, and writing a few of his own, purely for the fun of it.
IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?
As well as being the all-round entertainer we all know and love from the television, Count Arthur Strong is also a lifelong fan of astronomy since he was given a microscope for Christmas when he was a small, precocious baby. In fact, it’s said the first word he spoke was Uranus. In this, his brand new show, he combines the very best showbiz entertainment you’ll currently find in the world, possibly, as he wrestles with some of the big questions that other all-round entertainers shy away from.
FRI 8 NOVEMBER 7.30PM
35 years later, countless live gigs and millions of album sales down the track, Kevin Bloody Wilson has not only found his niche, he’s grabbed an esky and a deckchair and he’s made himself really comfortable in it. Ticket holders under 16 require a guardian to attend.

BOOKING INFORMATION Box Office 01604 624811 Website www.royalandderngate.co.uk Royal & Derngate, Box Office, Guildhall Road, Northampton, NN1 1DP Group Sales 01604 620066 Membership 01604 635868
BOX OFFICE OPENING HOURS Our Box Office is open from 10am (10.30am on Mondays) until 15 minutes after the last performances commence. On non‑performance days it closes at 6pm. On Sundays and Bank Holidays it is open from 1 hour and 30 minutes prior to the first performance commencing. You can pay by cash if booking in person or by Visa, Mastercard, Visa Delta or Electron.
DISCOUNTS AND CONCESSIONS Under 16s, Over 60s, Students, Job Seekers and Disabled Patrons may be able to claim a discount on their tickets. Please let us know if you are eligible for a concession at the time of booking and note that at some performances only certain types of concession may apply. Stage & Screen Members also often make savings on our regular ticket prices. For selected performances an allocation of tickets can be purchased at reduced prices by Groups who also benefit from extended payment terms and a dedicated team member to support their booking. Our Season Ticket packages offer reduced prices when booking for three or more shows – details can be found on page 4 & 5. Only one discount can be applied per ticket and all discounts are subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time. When booking performances that allow free entry for babes-in-arms, please inform Box Office how many you will be bringing. Age limits for free babes-in-arms tickets can vary.
POSTAGE FEE There is a £1.50 fee applicable to post your tickets to a UK address. We recommend that we do not post any tickets booked within seven days of the performance date, and instead will hold them at the Box Office for collection.
TRANSACTION FEE A transaction charge of £3.50 applies to all bookings of £20 and over, except for Members, Disabled Patrons and Group Bookers. This charge is only applicable per-booking and not per-ticket. The transaction charge
exists to support the running costs of Royal & Derngate. As ticket revenue is divided between many different parties, an increase in ticket prices may not necessarily benefit the theatre. By adding a transaction charge, we ensure that every penny goes directly to Royal & Derngate. We will continue to tell you about these charges, whether you are booking online, over the phone or at the counter.
CONDITIONS OF SALE Please note that once purchased tickets cannot be refunded. Ticket exchanges may be offered for the same production on payment of a small per ticket fee. For sold-out shows we will accept returned tickets for re-sale up to 24 hours prior on the understanding that a gift voucher (less transaction fees) will be provided if the tickets are re-sold. Any tickets found to be sold via an unauthorised agent may be void without refund and the ticket holder refused entry.
STAYING IN TOUCH Our Box Office and website will ask when you book if you want to receive further information from us about Royal & Derngate’s events and activities. We will then record your wishes and use them to inform what you receive from us in future. You can update these preferences at any time by accessing your account via our website or by calling Box Office. Full information on how we use your data can be found at www.royalandderngate.co.uk/privacy.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS All details were correct at time of going to print. We reserve the right to make any alterations to the programme, performers, times, ticket prices and Box Office opening hours. All concessions are subject to availability and some may only be available for a limited period. All prices are subject to change. Proof of status will be required on the first purchase of a concessionary ticket and can be checked on any subsequent ticket purchase. Some events or performances may be advertised in the national media prior to publication in the brochure and this is beyond the control of the Management. Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the theatre or filmhouse.
