FRANK SKINNER
JIMMY CARR
Following a sold out five-week run at the West End’s Garrick Theatre and a sold out show here in 2019, comedy legend Frank Skinner is returning to Royal & Derngate with his critically acclaimed stand-up show Showbiz. Prior to his West End triumph, Frank performed sold-out runs at London’s Leicester Square Theatre, the Edinburgh fringe, and a 45-date national UK tour. This is your last chance to catch Showbiz, the must-see comedy event of the year.
Jimmy Carr’s latest show contains jokes about all kinds of terrible things. Terrible things that might have affected you or people you know and love. But they’re just jokes – they are not the terrible things.

Ralph Fiennes directs and stars in a world premiere adaptation of T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets. Compelling, moving and symphonic, Four Quartets offer four interwoven meditations on the nature of time, faith, and the quest for spiritual enlightenment. Written during WWII when the closure of playhouses during the Blitz interrupted Eliot’s work in theatre, the four parts (Burnt Norton, East Coker, The Dry Salvages and Little Gidding) were the culminating achievement of Eliot’s Nobel Prize winning literary career. Ralph Fiennes’ distinguished stage work is matched by performances in some of the greatest films of our time, including Schindler’s List; The English Patient; The Grand Budapest Hotel; The Constant Gardner; Skyfall; In Bruges; The Dig and the Harry Potter series.

Completing the programme is Tchaikovsky’s sublime Serenade For Strings. Two lovers, each with hidden secrets, struggle to prosper as gin hawkers. At a time in the 18th century when the average Briton drank 1.5 litres of gin every day, women were being locked up in cells to sober up and disorder was breaking out on every street corner, panic spreads among the upper classes who look to the magistrates, the Church and even their tipsy Queen to restore sobriety. This raucous satire invites you down to the gin dive! Come on a journey through the joyous excesses of Hogarth’s Britain in this anarchic, ingenious and irreverent new musical.
