MAY “This is a show in which I am the principal character; it’s not Les, it’s not Edna, it’s not Sandy Stone. It is really about this character called ‘me’. I’m not in disguise.” National treasure Barry Humphries takes you on a revelatory trip through his colourful life and theatrical career with his new show The Man Behind the Mask. An intimate, confessional evening – seasoned with highly personal, sometimes startling, and occasionally outrageous stories.
Thu 19 – Sat 21 May 7.45pm ROYAL Tickets from £51.50 Concessions, Groups and Stage & Screen Members discounts
Dame Edna was welcomed by the UK with open arms, immediately becoming a household favourite and filling our living rooms with many years of laughter. His other alter egos included Sir Les Patterson and Sandy Stone. Barry peels off his mask to introduce the man behind the clown. Audiences can expect a virtuoso, comic, solo performance filled with laughter, drama, and surprise. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and the magic of technology may even allow appearances – or interruptions – by unexpected guests.

JUNE Mog is a very forgetful cat. She forgets that she has a cat flap, she forgets that she’s already eaten her supper, and she forgets that cats don’t have eggs for breakfast every day. Bother that cat! But Mog’s forgetfulness can come in handy...
A Royal & Derngate, Northampton, The Old Vic and The Wardrobe Ensemble co-production

The Wardrobe Ensemble (whose The Stage Award winning Education, Education, Education transferred from Royal & Derngate to the West End) adapt Judith Kerr’s beloved and iconic stories for the stage, in a lively and enchanting production directed by Jesse Jones and Helena Middleton (Pippi Longstocking), with songs, live music and a menagerie of creatures little and large. Featuring live and looped soundscapes using the incredible skills of spoken word poet and musician David Bowden (Word Guerrilla) this exciting and dynamic production explores themes of justice, motherhood and social corruption through the medium of a distant fairy tale, the ‘play within the play’.

Now he’s living a relatively normal life, Bobby talks about anything and everything including: his hatred for the people who thrived during covid, his inability to be alone with his baby because strangers think he’s a kidnapper, getting mistaken for a teenager, the insane driving rules in the UK, and on a more serious but still hilarious note – the lack of treatment available for the mentally ill. Dark, gut-wrenching stand-up from one of the best comedians in the country. He’s the host of ITV2’s Killer Camp, and you may have seen him on Feel Good, Stand Up Sketch Show, Roast Battle, Guessable, and 8 Out of 10 Cats.

My Name Is Why
This is Lemn Sissay’s life story: a story of neglect and determination, misfortune and hope, cruelty and triumph. He will read from his Sunday Times bestselling memoir, reflecting on a childhood in care, self-expression and Britishness, and in doing so exploring the institutional care system, race, family and the meaning of home. Infused with all the lyricism and power you would expect from one of the nation’s best-loved poets, this moving, frank and timely event is the result of a life spent asking questions, and a celebration of the redemptive power of creativity. The performance will be followed by a Q&A.

Yes, he’s back on tour, and he will never stop again, because that’s clearly what caused all this trouble. Instead, in his new show So, Where Were We? Dara will hardly mention the last year and a half, because, Jesus, who wants to hear about that, but will instead fire out the usual mix of stories, one-liners, audience messing, and tripping over his words because he is talking too quickly, because he’s so giddy to be back in front of a crowd.
