Welcome Summer is coming and with it we bring a burst of new life and energy with some great shows and activities for everyone to enjoy at The Core. We are thrilled to welcome the sell-out Edinburgh Fringe smash-hit Trainspotting Live. This show will cause a real stir this year and we cannot wait to see the audience reactions to the antics of this fearless cast and company. For those feeling energetic and in need of something to blow the cob webs away, The Core will be running a series of fun fitness classes from April onwards, commencing the same week as Trainspotting Live. The first of which will be a Clubbercise class starting Tuesday 23 April where you can break a sweat to some ’90s club classics. We are equally delighted to announce an exciting new co-production with New Old Friends for this year’s Christmas show, Swiss Family Robinson. A true classic tale for generations brought new life by this mad cap comedy company. Families and those who enjoyed their previous work Crimes Under The Sun and Crimes On The Nile are in for a real treat. Those looking to Get Involved with The Core will find a range of options for all ages towards the back of this brochure. We are particularly thankful to Northamptonshire Community Foundation and #Iwill for providing funding this year for a new Youth Advisory Panel at The Core. This is a group for young people aged 12 and up who want to be leaders and want to have their say. The group will work with the Core’s staff to learn the skills required to run a venue and will particularly get a chance to contribute to the artistic programming decisions that we make at The Core. If this is you or you know someone who will be interested in joining this group, we want to hear from you. The theatre doors are open, the lights are on and a seat is waiting for you. Come and enjoy the show. Joe Flavin, Director

Sat 27 & Sun 28 July 2019

Following the success of our first Grow Festival we are incredibly excited that it is returning for Summer 2019. Continuing to look at the essential ingredients for growth, the festival will explore food, celebrating all things culinary. Corby’s town centre will once again be animated with hilarious street performers, magical family pop-up shows and spectacular art throughout the weekend. The highlight of this year’s festival will be an enormous community feast. From 11am on Saturday, the town centre will host music, dance, interactive installations, walkabout acts and performances for all the family. Children and their families can get creative with craft workshops throughout the day outside The Cube, making food-themed objects for a lively and colourful parade through the town centre at 5pm. The Sunday will focus on a theatrical community feast in Coronation Park, sharing and celebrating the food and cultures of Corby, with festivities beginning from 12pm. The feast will be the culmination of months of community growing projects and three community cooks will be chosen to reflect Corby’s diverse population. Hundreds of diners will be entertained by music, dance and theatre from acclaimed street artists and the People’s Stage will return to showcase local talent.

We need you! Join the team and be a part of this year’s Grow Festival in Corby. You can volunteer in lots of different roles, including event set up, customer service, marketing, fundraising, stewarding and acting as an artist liaison. THE CORE AT CORBY CUBE & NEW OLD FRIENDS PRESENT

Fri 6 – Sun 29 December This Christmas, multi-award-winning comedy theatre company New Old Friends return to Corby with an exciting new retelling of the classic family tale Swiss Family Robinson.

New Old Friends have won national acclaim for their particular brand of entertaining and engaging theatre and this production will be overflowing with creativity. Delivered by a cast of just four talented performers, the show will feature stunning ship-wrecks, wonderful wild animals, glorious gags, marvellous machines, stupendous songs and witty wordplay.

When a family find themselves shipwrecked on a deserted island they have to use all of their wits, strengths and skills to build a new home. As well as finding shelter and safety on the island, they (and their dog) must also make friends with the local inhabitants who are all manner of creatures, some friendly and some not.

Running time 1 hour 45 minutes including an interval *Quotes refer to New Old Friends’ The Falcon’s Malteser
