Having a piece of art that is not proportionate to your wall and furniture will look odd and disproportionate to the space. If you are investing in a special art piece, you certaintly want to make sure it is adequate for the space. You should be able to walk into a room and see the subject’s faces 2/3 of the way into a room. You should never have to walk up to your portrait/painting to see the subjects. There is one decorating mistake that is made every so often, is that people tend to choose wall art that is much too small for the room. You certaintly don’t want to hang it, only to discover your room still feels empty.
