Welcome from the Chair of the RPS AV Group
Welcome to the thirteenth issue of AV News e Extra, and I am delighted to write this introduction as the AV Group’s new Chairman. Edgar Gibbs has done a sterling job as Chair over the last three years, and as Vice Chair for five years before that, and will be a very hard act to follow.
The ‘new season’ is well underway, and we are starting to see live events taking place after being reliant on Zoom during the pandemic not least of which was the RPS National AV Championships at Leeds Trinity University. There is a full report in this issue with much more in AV News 227, and as Chair of the Jury it was a delight to see all of the entries on a (very) big screen and superb sound system.
We are not quite out of the woods with Covid, and other events such as the recent Irish AV Championships other forthcoming events are still utilising Zoom to run the stage the event. Zoom has been a tremendous asset over the last couple of years, and I can see it still playing a role in the years ahead, with some competitions run as live events, and others as on line ones.
This issue of AV News E xtra, together with the printed copy of AV News 227, due out in December, is a bumper one with a lot of great content, so I’d like to give a massive ‘thank you’ to all those who have contributed. Keep it coming.
