Flowers

My flowers project of 2021 began as an exercise in recording flowers from my garden throughout the year. I was drawn to BW because I was more interested in the form and structure of the flower than its colour. They were all shot in a west facing window with only the evening sun to light them.

In the magazine “Flowers” is paired with Timo Lehto’s “Body and Soul”. Richard N Tucker writes:

The isolated flower heads are set against the tightly cropped images of the fighters, both are whole and beautiful. Rabindranath Tagore wrote “By plucking her petals, you do not gather the beauty of the flower. ” Here both photographers show that the beauty can be seized in regarding parts for the whole.
