Springboard Special 2018
I’ve included a couple of the “Highly Commended” entries in this special edition, and more will feature in future monthly newsletters.
And now a word from Liz Rhodes, Travel Group Chair “I would like to thank all those who came to this event and who made it a lively and friendly occasion. Thanks also to those on the Committee who did a lot of the nuts and bolts work to make sure it all went smoothly.”
Liz Rhodes, Chairman Plus a “Thank-you” from a member It was my great privilege and honour to meet you and receive my certificate. My first meeting with the members since I joined the Group last month and I thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was well organised; the food was lovely and members were very friendly. I would like to thank the organising team for the event.
Thank you.

Bring a Print Competition The Springboard guest speakers, Alison Cahill & Steve Davey, kindly agreed to judge this competition on the day and the winning entry was by Jo Cope with a very atmospheric image that Jo says “was taken on Good Friday in Seville, Spain on the Semana Santa RPS Travel group trip in April 2017. It was taken on the iPhone and processed in Snapseed. This image was a finalist in the 2017 Travel Photographer of the Year (smartphone category) in 2017.”

PIC - Highly Commended Travel Group Treasurer Bob Akester was amongst the PIC Highly Commended with this splendidly colourful image “Sapphire Panners, Madagascar” taken from an interesting angle. You will recall that Bob was mentioned in the last newsletter for his entry in “The Crown from the Crowd” – I have info now about the Elephant in the picture, which I will share with you in a subsequent newsletter!

I’m making my travel plans already – I live in Lapland but this should be a very special event and well-worth visiting. Just space for one more “Highly Commended” – this is my personal favourite from the competition. It combines the simplicity, and the complexity, of a fairy-tale … “Cottage in the Copse, Norway” by Rachel Dunsdon
See you soon Grahame
