he Living Vintage Company is displaying their private collection of authentic clothes and accessories in a vintage fashion show extravaganza in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar as a fundraiser in aid of Cystic Fibrosis, Castlebar Musical Society and the IABS Convention. The evening will also feature exhibitors of vintage photography, artifacts, jewelley, and clothes, and entertainment of the era. From the austerity of the second world war right up to ‘The glorification of the female form’ in the 1950’s, these times are brought to life on the catwalk by beautiful models. Also entertainment from awardwinning barbershop quartet, Note-Orious 4.

From village parties in the early 1900s to Glastonbury and the US with their current international profile, 106 years in the business and the Kilfenora has gone from strength to strength! This iconic century-old band has evolved towards a more contemporary sound, and artistic tension between the rich dance music heritage and their big new soundscape, has added spice to their large-scale pulsating theatre shows, complete with slick dancers Michael Donnellan (Riverdance), and Kickin Crew and the talented Don Stiffe on vocals.
Their show coincides with the launch or their new 9th album, ‘Now Is The Hour’. This powerful 13-member supergroup originated in the late 1800s. At the time, music was an important feature of life in rural Ireland. Kilfenora boasted a fine brass band, which gradually evolved into a dance band. Its story is the story of Irish music itself. From village parties in the early 1900s to bigger dances in the ‘30s, broadcasts in the ‘40s, commercial recordings in the ‘50s, foreign tours in the ‘60s and ‘70s and the reformation of the band in it’s current format in the ‘90s.
All-Ireland champions, the Kilfenora is one of the worlds greatest and longest running trad bands. Their CD Set on Stone 1997 achieved Platinum status and Live in Lisdoonvarna 2002 was Irish Music Magazine’s Traditional Album of the Year. To coincide with the band’s centenary in 2009, the band was presented with the IMA Hall of Fame award. While acknowledging and incorporating the past, the Kilfenora thrives on creativity and innovation. With 106 years in the making, their time has certainly come !!

............................................................ If you loved the Strictly Come Dancing experience then this event is for you! You have the chance to dance again in Strictly Winners ’15 on April 10th, the chance to raise more funds for their original chosen charity while getting a second chance to shine on the dance floor. This unique event is open to previous Strictly Come Dancing participants from around the Country. Twenty places will be offered on a first come first served basis, with a minimum entry fee that will go to Western Care Association. The participants can then raise funds for their own cause, rehearse their dance routines and compete to win the top prize of €1,000 for their original charity. If you have participated in a Strictly Come Dancing event previously you are now eligible to take part in this dance extravaganza! A maximum of twenty couples will battle it out for the coveted glitter ball and the €1,000 prize for their cause. The final three contestants will be judged solely on their dance ability. On registration the couple must chose two of the following dances - Cha Cha Cha, Waltz or Jive. On the night they will dance alongside the other couples on the Royal Theatre Dance Floor underneath spotlights and glitter balls!
............................................................ The scoring will be the same as their original event, 50% judge’s scores and 50% bucket collection on the night. The organiser’s charity - Western Care Association, will share in half of the bucket collection. Funds raised prior to the event remain with the participant’s charity. The final three couples will dance their show piece to music of their choice, submitted prior to the event and allow the judges to pick the winner based solely on dance ability. The winners will receive €1,000 to their own charity as well as a weekend away for each dancer in first place. Registration is now open on www.iregister.ie/strictlywinners2015 This will be a fabulous night’s entertainment with The Chris Barber Jazz and Blues Band, a richlytextured ten-piece group, blending brass, reeds, and electric guitar into a unique and unmistakable mix of blues and jazz. The National Children’s Choir is a school-based choral experience for primary school children. Affiliated pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th classes in Irish primary school learn a common repertoire of songs. This year 300 children from Mayo will perform in a Regional Concert in The Royal Theatre, Castlebar. This year we are honoured and privileged to have local group ‘Coda’ performing at the concert. A “Heritage Host” who is knowledgeable on Jennings family heritage, will accompany this tour.
A family Mass will be held in Islandeady Church at 7pm, followed by a gathering in the TF Royal Hotel for a light meal and evening of fun (Tickets €20). Since then a dedicated and growing number of Barbershop enthusiasts have ensured the growing popularity of this very
