Ezugi takes Retail to New Heights!
South Africa has a mature and highly regulated gambling industry but in recent times the retail sector has shifted from betting on horse racing and sport to betting on fixed odds outcomes of live lottery draws.
Fixed odds betting on lottery has gone on to become very popular in the retail space where Ezugi has been a key player since 2016 with its first partner, Betting World. It is now gaining further traction with other retailers by launching its live fixed odds lottery games via its approved point of sale system.

Ezugi, the market-leading live dealer fixed odds provider that is part of the Evolution Group, offers a suite of games that have been designed and developed specifically for emerging markets such as South Africa, while still having international appeal.
The provider offers retail fixed odds betting solutions, with the number of games in this product line set to triple over the coming months. Although Ezugi focuses mostly on live dealer games including traditional classics like roulette, blackjack and poker, it still takes into consideration the need for retail specific content.
The aim of the game is to predict the numbers or sums of the balls selected. Bet on Numbers offers three types of bets and players can bet on 36 different combinations of individual numbers, sum of numbers and colours being drawn.
After the bets are placed, six balls are drawn from the ball machine, displaying the winning numbers and providing a real, authentic live draw experience.
On the back of the success of Bet on Numbers within the retail market, Ezugi sees great potential for additional lottery style games and has several titles in production that once live will give players a wider range of exciting betting opportunities.
This is in addition to its latest blockbuster lottery game release – Golden Balls. This live lottery game provides even more excitement and fun for the player as it is packed with surprise wins, multipliers and cashback opportunities.
What’s more, if a player’s numbers are not drawn, the player can still win if a Golden Ball/s are drawn during the round. Amazing features like this bring more excitement than ever and takes lottery style games to a whole new level.
Ezugi continues to innovate and bring new products to market with plans to enhance its retail portfolio over the coming months. New games to be added in Q4 this year include Bet on Roulette, where retail players will have the opportunity to bet on roulette outcomes where the stream and TV display will be from a live casino, giving the player a full interactive experience.
Perhaps the most hotly-anticipated addition is one of Evolution’s flagship games – Dream Catcher. Evolution acquired Ezugi in 2018 and it was always the intention to leverage Ezugi’s expertise to take some of Evolutions’ classic games into the retail environment.
Additional new games, developments and enhancements to the retail game portfolio and certified cashier system will be rolled out throughout the year and into 2022. One such feature is a guaranteed R5 million pay- out on Bet on Numbers for a R2 stake, for selecting six balls in each and every daily draw.
Ezugi is all about providing its partners and ultimately the end user with a unique and state of the art gaming experience. With the development of its own in-house retail cashier system, Ezugi is able to do just this.
The provider’s world class cashier system was approved and certified in South Africa in early 2017. This was initially under Betting World’s manufacturer licence, however, in February 2020 Ezugi received an LOC under Evolution Services SA National Manufacturer’s licence.
This effectively means that operators throughout South Africa can now use the Ezugi cashier system in their retail operations, onward sell its retail games in their retail outlets and/ or integrate them seamlessly into their existing wagering software.
This is combined with a unique loyalty program that tracks player spend via a dedicated App which then awards free loyalty bets. This gives operators the ability to get to know their cash clients, build a database and then communicate with them via the app to ensure they retain them as “loyal” customers.
Ezugi is serious about its retail system and product offering; the company will be investing in upskilling the local South African and wider African retail team and providing additional resources to support its vision and strategy for the continent.
