Casino Lion Opens in Madagascar

The latest Casino Marina operation opened its doors in Antananarivo, Madagascar on 23 December 2020 in style. The casino is located on the 5th floor of the Globe Center Behoririka, the oldest and largest shopping center in Antananarivo and adds to the more than 450 shops to satisfy young and old, and a food court with rooftop terrace.

CASINO LION is the tenth casino to open for the Casino Marina group. The casino offers 60 upmarket gaming machines and automatic roulette with progressive jackpots and floor-wide Mystery Jackpots through the ACE System and 11 live table games offering Poker, Blackjack, Roulette and Baccarat.

Herman Franken, the regional General Manager in Madagascar and oversaw the project from inception including the ceremonial candle lighting on opening night.

Herman had this to say: “I’m really proud of my team here in Tana, who despite limited working conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic pulled this installation off. Of course this would not been possible without the tremendous support we got from Lennie Govender from ACES.”

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions The entire installation was conducted by the Casino Marina staff in Madagascar with remote assistance from the ACE Team in South Africa. “It really was a superb effort by the operations staff in Antananarivo and the ACE team based in Johannesburg,” commented Cliff Lamberton from ACES. Production and logistics were managed by Elzette Lotriet and Denise Carlisle respectively under difficult conditions with limited production capacity as a result of lockdown and infrequent freight, but they got the hardware built and sent, which left it up to Tom and his team and Kurt Roman from ACES. All training was conducted through ACES online training portal, which offer course bundles for the various job roles in the casino, course of each ACE module and all the webinar recordings.
