The current BID continues...

With cash in the budget...

The Cinema

Showreels

Three months after opening, the cinema is attracting an average of 150 visitors per weekend. That’s over 5,000 residents per year visiting Royston town centre instead of travelling to spend their time and money elsewhere.

We are in the process of filming a series of showreels for Royston Picture Palace which will highlight the town’s eateries. These will be shown in the cinema with the intention of encouraging film goers to combine their visit to the cinema with a meal out. This feature may then roll out to other businesses.

Highlighting s the best place to eat in Royston

Town App Operation Artemis After 4 years of supporting our local constabulary we have jointly achieved one of the lowest crime figures in the UK for a town our size. As part of Operation Artemis, we intend to build on this - focusing on security in the Industrial Estate.

Parking

A brief has been circulated for an App to be built around the Town Trail. The idea is that visitors will be able to navigate their way around town guided via their mobile phone ... with points of interest highlighted.

Visitor Centre Negotiations are on-going with the aim of opening a Visitor Centre somewhere in the vicinity of the Royston Cave. The objectives of this project are to encourage new visitors to Royston and enhance their experience while they are here.

Royston First proposes to maintain funding for the Free-After-3 parking scheme which continues to fill our town centre car parks, whilst trying to expand the scratchcard scheme to catch parents on the morning school run.

Deep cleaning Professional deep cleaning of the town centre will take place again before the end of March next year.

We will also continue with:

And...

Pigeon relocation

We intend to maintain financial and planning support for local events including:

Installation of our highly acclaimed Christmas lights Royston Focus, the twice-yearly magazine featuring new Royston activities will be issued again before Christmas Enhancing shop windows

Royston Means Business Royston Arts Festival The Christmas Carnival Open Secrets The Easter Chocolate Trail

Gateway signage Finally, there is just a chance that we may be able to pull off the installation of the first digital sign on an entrance to Royston before the end of the first BID term.
