Riverside In The Afternoon (RITA

Before and after an academic school day, RPDS is here for your child with Riverside in the Afternoon, often referred to as its acronym, RITA. The extended day programming opens its doors at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m. in the evening on regular school days.

Children are extremely open to learning in their early years and an excellent after-school program is the perfect complement to investing in an excellent education. At Riverside, we value every moment we have to equip young students with the foundations of academic and lifelong success, and our after-school program is no exception.

An effective after-school program must be strategic, fun and age-appropriate. Children aren’t always inclined to sit in a desk for hours on end simply listening to lectures. We realize that your child has already spent many hours learning, so we must be creative in encouraging them to learn and play for a few more hours.

Many of our RITA employees are working towards becoming a credentialed teacher or working towards a college degree, and some are experienced teachers. RITA employees maintain the same active learning and engaging activities with our students. The entire staff is First Aid and CPR trained.

As the school day concludes and the transition to RITA begins, students may also participate in our Afternoon Academies program. There are a variety of activities from which to choose, all tailored to enrich each child’s afternoon experience at RPDS. These activities are varied among age groups and offerings rotate throughout the school year.
