MEET MARINA CANO Wildlife photographer Marina Cano is from Cantabria in the North of Spain. She has a degree in music, and has taught both music and history. For the past 14 years she has been a wildlife photographer, publishing two books and winning awards on an international level. In 2015, she became a member of the Canon Ambassador Team as a Canon Explorer. “My first contact with nature started with my father, who took me with him to take pictures when I was a little girl,” says Cano. “Later, I discovered the largest wildlife park in Europe, Cabarceno, and eventually Africa, the place

I feel the most at home.” She echoes the quote, “I am not African because I was born in Africa, but because Africa was born in me,” by Kwame Nkrumah. “I want to spread the beauty of our planet, with one intention: to raise awareness about endangered wildlife and the protection of our environment,” Cano notes. “After many years sharing my work, I know that it touches people’s hearts.
