R E S I D E N C E S A Shimmering, Sculptural Tower At the Country’s Most Popular Intersection. More than a developer, Sam Mizrahi is a business romantic, driven by ar tistry, innovation and a passion for what is possible.

this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the city and help celebrate all that it has become as a thriving global business hub. Yonge and Bloor is the most iconic corner in Canada; an intersection that’s deeply rooted in the history and identity of Toronto. It is also the most popular with the highest pedestrian traffic in the country. The city’s major southnorth and east-west subway lines meet underground at this nexus, allowing passengers to travel anywhere in the city, including to the financial district, without going outside.

The fourth largest city in North America, Toronto is routinely voted as a leading metropolis in which to live and work. So when Sam, who grew up in Toronto, acquired property at the south west of Yonge and Bloor, he knew

Located on the world-famous Bloor Street West,Toronto’s equivalent to New York’s Fifth Avenue, The One makes shopping for global fashion brands or dining at popular restaurants a delightful stroll around the corner. The most popular luxury marketplace in the country, Bloor Street has glittering flagship stores for Hermes, Escada, Burberry, Louis Vuitton,Tiffany & Co, Prada and Mulberry, among others. It is also steps away from Yorkville, one of the most beloved heritage neighbourhoods in the city with 19th century architecture, 5-star hotels, restaurants and boutiques.

AN ICONIC BUILDING FOR AN ICONIC INTERSECTION Sam took his responsibility as the owner of the southwest corner of Yonge and Bloor very seriously. He conducted a global search for an architectural firm that could help bring his vision to life for a tower that would be unlike anything else. He dreamed big. After many discussions, he chose to work with Foster + Partners, one of the most innovative architectural practices in the world. Based in London, England, Foster + Partners is known for its ground-breaking ‘biophiliac’ designs that put an emphasis on the power of nature to soothe and restore the energy of human beings. Within the context of a major city, this is a crucial and progressive design principle. The firm is responsible for reshaping and defining the skylines of some of the world’s great cities, in particular, of London, England, with its distinctive Gherkin building and other unexpected architectural additions.

serene sanctuaries while watching the urban energy below. Many of the windows in the tower open to the fresh air. A year-round sky terrace, 100 feet above Yonge Street, offers an escape to the beauty of nature with 9,000 square feet of planted trees, plants and ornamental shrubbery. A heated infinity pool is a surprising and delightful sea of tranquility amidst the thrum of the city. Uniformed valets park and retrieve cars from the underground garage so homeowners don’t have to. All they need to do is press a button to summon their cars. Meals can be delivered from any of the high-end restaurants in the podium to any location in the tower. The Sky Lobby is a beautiful space of towering glass walls and marble floors where a concierge will take care of any needs. A fitness retreat overlooks the streetscape of Bloor and Yonge, one of the most exciting and glamourous in the city. A small, private bar in the boutique hotel in the podium is open to homeowners so they can enjoy a drink before rising to their residences in the sky. Club rooms offer private spaces for large or intimate gathering. Shopping

After nearly three years and over 40 design iterations, the team of Mizrahi and Fosters unveiled The One. The innovative hybrid of a super structure and exoskeleton maximizes exposure to the sunlight and changes the skyline of Toronto, marking its midpoint with a shimmering sculptural tower of repeating textures. Equipped with imbedded LED lighting, the tower can be illuminated at night.

GLASS PALACES IN THE SKY WITH UNEXPECTED AMENITIES A soaring civic space at the ground floor entrance off of Bloor creates a pleasant environment for people to meet, relax and enjoy the architectural grandeur. The tallest residential building in the country meets the ground in a graceful, curtain of glass – a delicate, light-filled expression at the busiest intersection in Canada. Wide plaza-like sidewalk spaces along Yonge and Bloor at the base of the building give pedestrians a chance to sit down and enjoy the public art and buzz of the exciting intersection. The design for The One has metallic branch-like trusses encasing a skin of glass. The residences are clean, palaces of glass with built-in benches in the living space which give homeowners a perch on the edge of the city, calm in their

items from the stores in the podium can be delivered to your home at your convenience. Every service to make your life easier is part of hospitality at The One. Mizrahi Developments recognizes that architecture has enormous power – the ability to lift spirits with light and beauty; and to act as a civic tool that brings people together, allowing them the space to participate in urban life. The company is honoured to part of the re-imagination of Yonge and Bloor and to celebrate all that Toronto has become.

CHEF MARK McEWAN Chef Mark McEwan began his career as the youngest ever executive chef at Toronto’s upscale Sutton Place Hotel. From here, he opened the ground-breaking North 44 which set a new standard in Toronto’s culinary landscape. Chef McEwan continued to push dining innovation with the launch of Bymark; winner of the enRoute Award for Canada’s Best New Restaurants and a pioneer in the Toronto Financial District food scene. Never one to rest on his laurels, Chef McEwan then opened the chic ONE Restaurant, which is considered by locals and discerning travelers alike as the heart of Yorkville. Driven by the freshest ingredients and influenced by the marketplaces of the world, Chef McEwan turned his attention to upscale gourmet food and opened McEwan Gourmet Grocery at The Shops at Don Mills then at the TD Centre, offering shoppers the best produce from local purveyors and unique international culinary finds. Chef McEwan then moved to Italian cuisine with Don Mills’ Fabbrica serving rustic dishes made with the finest ingredients. Always pushing boundaries with cooking techniques and styles, Chef McEwan created a wide-ranging menu for the elegant Diwan Restaurant at Aga Khan Museum which showcases his innovative approaches to Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian cuisine. In 2018, Chef McEwan brought his rustic Italian cuisine to the downtown core and to rural Thornbury with the opening of two new Fabbrica locations which showcase regional recipes from across Italy’s diverse landscape. Chef McEwan continues to elevate Canadian cuisine onto the global stage through his bestselling cookbooks Great Food at Home and Rustic Italian. With a commitment to quality, Chef McEwan is looking toward the future with the opening of his third gourmet grocery, McEwan Yonge & Bloor which will anchor the high-end intersection’s transformation and revolutionize food-retail to become the gourmet hotspot for local residents and visitors alike.

CHEF DARBY PIQUETTE

Under the mentorship of Chef McEwan, he developed his skill and personal style, showcasing his dedication to culinary excellence and consistency by making fine-dining approachable. Seeing everything through from raw ingredient to the final plating, Chef Piquette built a following with a simple ethos that celebrated seasonal produce, never cutting corners and always using the best ingredients available.
