Love Stories Set in Stone

T

hroughout his lifetime, Mr. Winston believed that behind every great diamond was a fascinating story. That diamonds, like people, were most precious for their individuality. And that our most meaningful moments should be marked with jewels so exquisite and rare that they would forever serve as glittering reminders of our most cherished memories. One of Mr. Winston’s greatest gifts was to impart his fascination with the beauty, the romance, the majesty and the mystique of great gemstones to a clientele that ranged from heads of state to Hollywood stars. Harry Winston’s renowned collection of rare jewels has been compared with those amassed by royal houses and governments alike. Since 1932, some of Harry Winston’s most extraordinary diamonds have played a prominent role in commemorating some of the greatest romances of our time, from expressions of love— such as the flawless pear-shaped stone presented to Elizabeth Taylor by Richard Burton; to symbols of commitment—like the legendary Lesotho III diamond engagement ring given to Jacqueline Kennedy by Aristotle Onassis; to one of-a-kind jewels, for once in a lifetime celebrations.

“ A good diamond is a possession to be prized for generations.…” – Mr. Harry Winston

When you purchase a Harry Winston engagement ring, our legacy becomes yours.

A

Harry Winston engagement ring is held to the highest and most exacting quality standards in the industry. Throughout every step of the process, we inspect each ring, beginning with the initial design and continuing to the moment before it is placed in our salon’s case. Our quality assurance professionals painstakingly pore over each ring, ensuring that it has been flawlessly crafted. Instilled in every Harry Winston diamond is an incredible sense of pride, grounded in decades of experience and tradition.

mong the world’s leading independent jewelers, Cellini is renowned for its breathtaking selection, impeccable quality and informed advice. After thrilling visitors to the historic Waldorf-Astoria Hotel for 40 years, Cellini was forced to permanently close its flagship boutique there in 2017 when the hotel closed for extensive and lengthy renovations. Cellini’s boutique on Madison Avenue remains open while a new flagship boutique is being completed at Park Avenue and 56th Street. Scheduled to open in early 2018, the new location will allow Cellini to expand its already wide-ranging collection of fine jewelry and rare watches. In fact, at 3,000 square feet, the new space will be larger than the Waldorf and Madison boutiques combined. “Our goal is to create a relaxed atmosphere where people can take their time and enjoy themselves as they explore our extensive collection without feeling rushed. Maybe have an espresso or a glass of champagne as they sit in the lounge and chat with one of our experts. Coming to Cellini should be a special experience,” says company president, Leon Adams.

NATURAL RADIANCE Regardless of its address, Cellini has always celebrated the artistry of both jewelry and horology. After opening in 1977, Cellini became known for its gleaming display cases filled with imaginatively designed jewelry creations, each one organized by gemstone. Naturally, diamonds play a starring role. Visitors will discover them in an array of shapes and colors, including an extremely rare, radiant-cut chartreuse diamond. Nearby, a rich assortment of gems and pearls — assembled from sources around the world — are used to create handcrafted showpieces that feature everything from Burmese rubies and Kashmir sapphires to South Sea pearls and alexandrite, an extraordinary gem whose color changes in natural light. The settings used to show off these natural wonders are equally varied, ranging from elegant designs made to transcend time to contemporary styles that evoke the present. But for exceptional glamour, nothing outshines the splendor of a bespoke setting. Cellini’s gemologists and designers combine expertise with imagination to create anything from a unique engagement ring to a one-of-a-kind necklace. Whether you seek understated, overwhelming, or something in between, the extraordinary scope of Cellini’s collection opens up a world of possibilities.

LEADING THE WAY Adams has always been passionate about haute horlogerie. It led him to open his first boutique, where his collection of hard-to-find timepieces struck a chord with a growing group of American collectors who were rediscovering the art of mechanical watchmaking. As Cellini’s reputation grew through the years, so did its collection, which was one of the first in America to include brands like A. Lange & Söhne, Audemars Piguet, Laurent Ferrier, H. Moser & Cie., Moritz Grossmann and Richard Mille. A veteran of countless watch fairs in Basel and Geneva, Adams has seen trends come and go, deepening his perspective and sharpening his ability to quickly separate the timely from the timeless. That keen eye, fueled by his genuine excitement for the art of horology, is why watch collectors trust Cellini. “We’re constantly looking for new and innovative watchmakers, but we’re extremely selective about who we represent,” he explains. “Finding a brand that produces unique watches isn’t enough. The watches — and the watch company — must be built to last. Quality is foremost in everything we do at Cellini.”

QUALITY IS FOREMOST IN EVERYTHING WE DO AT CELLINI.

Above: In the RM 011-03 Flyback Chronograph from Richard Mille, the skeletonized automatic movement serves as the dial.

Left: The white gold Galet Classic Dual is the first watch from Laurent Ferrier to feature the tourbillon mechanism on the dial side.

THE PERFECT FIT

Limited to 30 pieces, the Urban Jürgensen 1140L PT Blue’s guilloché dial takes two full days to decorate by hand.

Today, Cellini covers the spectrum of haute horlogerie with a phenomenal collection that includes more than 30 brands and appeals to all types of watch enthusiasts. There is something for budding aficionados in search of their first fine timepiece, and for savvy collectors who prize the jeweler’s selection of impossibly rare pieces. Adams says: “That range is what sets us apart and the reason people keep coming back.” But merchandise is far from the only reason the most discerning connoisseurs opt for Cellini. A knowledgeable staff provides impeccable service before, during and after a purchase. The experience they provide puts the emphasis on the client’s needs. “Getting to know our people and understanding their expectations is key to assisting them in making educated decisions,” Adams explains. “We take a great deal of satisfaction in helping our clients make a decision that is best for them.” Irresistible jewels, sophisticated horology, and a dedicated staff — it’s no wonder that Cellini continues to be one of the most respected and successful boutiques of its kind. ¨

Inspiring upcoming art trends...

Founded in 1994 by Gilles Dyan, member of the European Chamber of Expert - Advisors in Fine Art, Opera Gallery Group is now internationally established with twelve galleries around the world. It has become one of the rare international art gallery networks with locations on four continents: North America (New York, Miami, Aspen), Europe (London, Paris, Monaco, Geneva), Asia (Singapore, Seoul, Hong Kong) and the Middle East (Beirut, Dubai). More than ever, the world of art and creativity marches to the beat of a global village. It feeds on exchanges, dialogues, unexpected encounters and discoveries. Thanks to connections both far-reaching and deeply-rooted, the group is now solidly established in prestigious locations. Such dynamic growth is a testament to Opera Gallery’s continued quest for quality art; it is also a commitment to loyalty and trust from artists and patrons alike. It is with the New York City crowd - one of the most cosmopolitan, demanding and passionate the world over that Opera Gallery is crafting the latest chapter of its ongoing love affair with Fine Arts. Located at 791 Madison Avenue, the three floors of Opera Gallery New York feature unique works of Great Masters of Modern Art such as Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Henri Matisse, Jean Dubuffet, Lucio Fontana, Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein amongst others, as well as immense Contemporary talents such as Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yue Minjun, Zhang Xiaogang and Yayoi Kusama. Opera Gallery offers constant support to international contemporary artists and has developed several reputed specialised departments such as Asian Art, Street Art, Photography, Design and Latin American art. The group notably launched and supports Spanish painter Lita Cabellut, sculptor Mauro Corda and photographer Gérard Rancinan. It has also played a major role in enhancing the international recognition of Bernard Buffet’s lifework.

DISCOVER THE WORLD THROUGH THE LENS OF PETER LIK

GETTING THE PERFECT SHOT

Peter’s life and career as a landscape photographer would be nothing without the strong determination of his parents, who barely escaped the harsh realities of their homeland of the Czech Republic after WWII, for a better life on the beautiful continent of Australia. Thanks to their incredible fortitude, Peter grew up surrounded by the most breathtaking landscapes on the planet. Rivers, forests, deserts, beaches, mountains, and the Great Barrier Reef completely set the stage for the Artist’s strong and powerful connection to the natural world – a connection that drives him to this day.

The truly pivotal moment that set Peter on a course to become a photographer, occurred when he was only eightyears-old. His humble and hardworking parents bought him the “eye-widening” birthday gift of a Kodak Brownie camera. His first snapshot ever was of a spider web, glistening with morning dew in the family garden. Without any prompting and on instinct alone, Peter clicked the shutter and his future

Around the turn of the millennium, Peter’s collector base began to grow significantly, along with his portfolio of galleries – all of which he has personally designed himself. First came LIK Lahaina in 2003, Peter’s longest running gallery, which was well received by Maui locals and tourists alike. That success led to a opportunity in Las Vegas, where he opened LIK Caesars, “a total dream come true” for the Artist. From there, it was only onwards and upwards. Gallery after gallery began to pop-up around the nation – marking a true success story completely driven by Peter’s unending passion for the world’s greatest artist, Mother Nature. Throughout a remarkable career that spans over 30 years, Peter has sold countless works to a highly devoted audience of international collectors. He has made history with recordbreaking sales, and he has been recognized by some of the most reputable institutions in the world. But, none of this compares to the joy of doing what he loves every single day – capturing and sharing the most beautiful places on earth. To learn more, visit lik.com. flashed before his eyes. Destiny had found him. That moment is forever burned into his “brain, heart, and soul” – a moment he still draws from. A little over a decade later, Peter was finally able to pursue photography as something more than just a dream. He doubled up on jobs – working anywhere he could, just to be able to buy film and snap off a few shots in his spare time. He began to do anything he could to make his passion and career one and the same, including selling to a small local collector base, which quickly affirmed his innate talents. In the Artist’s late twenties, he made his first trip to the States. It was 1984 – the year that everything would change once again. While in Alaska, Peter encountered another professional photographer working in the panoramic format, an ideal medium for capturing landscapes in their entirety. Peter was instantly “floored” by the results it produced and wasted no time mastering its wide field of view. Since then, panorama has become his calling card, a style by which his known and praised for, and he has never looked back. For years afterwards, Peter continued studying the raw, diverse beauty of the United States, which he had been longing to capture since childhood; it is reflected in his well-regarded fine art photography book, Spirit of America, which explores the magic of all 50 states. However, it was the American Southwest that truly grabbed Peter’s full attention, the subject of many of his greatest masterworks, such as the Grand Canyon, White Sands National Monument, Death Valley, and Horseshoe Bend. Therefore, it is no surprise that Las Vegas was chosen as the perfect, central location to set up LIK USA headquarters, where Peter could remain among a photographer’s paradise.

New York has been known as the global hub for cosmetic dentistry for the international community since the emergence of smile makeovers. Between 60,000 to 80,000 patients travel to New York and other American Cities for advanced dental treatment from other countries annually. Most of the patients are from the Middle East and South America. Dr. Lee Gause is going against the tradewinds to bring amazing dental services to people in far away places, rather than forcing patients to travel to far away continents for care. Although he is 90% in New York at his posh dental practice Smile Design Manhattan recent demand in places as far as Kazakstan, or Dubai have caused Dr. Gause to take his dental team and expertise “on the road. Although initially, it may not seem worth it to take a 20 hour flight to see patients halfway across the globe, the extreme need for beautiful and healthy smiles and scarcity of advanced cosmetic dental service globally has both Dr. Gause and his international patients smiling.
