Dodge performance vehicles have been some of the most sought after for generations...
Step into any auction and original Hemi powered muscle cars can fetch serious coin. In the third quarter of 2014, Dodge would change the landscape forever by offering a powerful new concept for both the Challenger and Charger for 2015. The Hellcat platforms offered all the modern luxuries and conveniences while boast-

ing a 6.2-liter Supercharged Hemi producing a whopping 707 horsepower and 650 lbft of torque. The Challenger SRT Hellcat maintained its original 2-door design for that sportier feel while the Charger platform is one helluva family sedan.
The Challenger and Charger Hellcats were showing up at the dragstrips almost immediately, and running some very respectable times despite how heavy these vehicles are. From the original Hellcat spawned another platform in 2018 that would change the game even more.
Dodge introduced the Demon model and only 3,300 were produced.

The Demon was a personal project for Chris and his wife Marlene, taking two years to lovingly rebuild. They found the car at a Mecum auction and quickly formulated a dedicated race car plan.
The original MSRP for the Demon was around 85,000 US dollars, if you could get your hands on one, that is. Some of these Demons were selling for nearly double that price when everyone found out what the car was all about. While the Demon was dubbed a race car, you could still purchase it with optional passenger and rear seats, sunroof, and a full luxury package. Most people’s interest in the Demon was for its performance capabilities, though, as it made 840 horsepower on race fuel with the infamous “red key” (which turned on a host of performance features). When Dodge tested it at the race track it ran a 9.54 at over 140 miles per hour, prompting a “ban” from NHRA sanctioned racetracks.

Despite being a fairly heavy production car, the Demon body is just as it came from the factory. The car is missing some “regular production car” equipment and options that help shave off some weight, but at the same time, items such as the parachute and cage put some of that poundage back on.

The Demon did not come equipped with an SFI certified roll cage which, at that time, was required for any vehicle running 9.99 elapsed times or 135 mph, but needless to say, the Dodge Demon now sat in top spot for factory performance cars and everybody wanted to get their hands on one.
Before we dive into Chris Baily’s record setting Dodge Demon, it’s important to understand the background of Chris, and his success. “My passion for cars and racing comes from generations of race car builders and enthusiasts. Growing up alongside my uncles, building vehicles in their garages developed a natural drive and desire to want to go fast and to build my own race car. This drive led me to opening our performance shop now known as Baily’s Hyperformance Factory in July of 2007,” explained Chris.

Earlier in its life cycle under Baily’s direction, the Demon was able to accomplish an 8.47 in the ¼ mile with a Magnuson 2650 supercharger and stock transmission. This was something that people said could only be accomplished by adding a built transmission and nitrous.

Baily’s started building imports and has since evolved into being one of the leading shops in the Mopar performance world. “We have been in business for fifteen years and throughout this time we have really focused on perfecting our trade and equipping our customers with top-of-theline equipment to provide them with horsepower they can trust,” he added
Baily’s hard work and dedication paid off with multiple records to their credit and being able to assist hundreds of customers with accomplishing their personal goals. They became known for building fast Mopars, but for select few special customers they will even dive into GM builds.

In 2021, Chris and his wife decided to take the racing aspect of their business to the next level, pairing his knowledge building race engines with his uncle and adapting that into the modern HEMI platform. The next step was to find the right car to build to showcase their abilities, and that’s when they found the Demon. “It was at the Mecum auctions a few years ago. We spotted something that we knew we could turn into a race car and my wife and I came up with a plan and decided to make this strictly a track-only car that would really show what we can do.”

The comfortable yet race oriented Demon interior remains fully street legal with stand-alone ECU, heat, and air conditioning. A roll cage was added to meet sanctioning body rules, but other than a few small additional items for the business of drag racing, it’s factory stock.

With the Demon already a few years ahead its time, the Baileys were able to brainstorm and plan ways to make it better and faster. Chris teamed up with some of the best companies in the industry and started accomplishing things that nobody thought possible. To date, Chris holds the record for a Demon, running 7.99 at over 172 miles per hour. The Demon already had a great platform but thanks to a lot of research and development, Baily’s Demon continues to transform and perform. What really stands out most about this particular Demon is that, while it has some one-off parts, much of it is “stock.” There are zero chassis modifications, and it also utilizes the factory Bilstein shocks and Brembo brakes.

Chris plans to continue improvement on not only his car, but his customer’s cars, as well.
We’ve already mentioned that there are no chassis mods on Baily’s car, and the same can be said for the body and exterior of the Demon, except for the body wrap, of course. The list of factory stock stuff
grows in the power, transmission and driveline department, too. The factory rear differential with 3.09 gears remains in place and the factory 8 speed transmission boasts improvements from SHR. Engine wise, the factory Demon 6.2 Liter (378 cubic inch) Hemi has been treated to some growth hormones via

This Hyper Demon features a nitrous injected and supercharged stroked 426 Hemi! The supercharger was upgraded to a Magnuson 2650 over the factory 2.7 liter unit. The new blower can support up to 1,400 horsepower with an upgraded fuel system which was part of the mods to Baily’s car, as well

Chris and his wife Marlene regularly make donations of all their race winnings to B Loved Ethiopia.
Several years ago, B Loved’s founders felt called to a town in Ethiopia called Sodo. As one of the poorest cities in Ethiopia, many children become orphans having lost both of their parents due to HIV or sickness. We talked with a friend in Ethiopia to help us figure out what was the best way to care for these children and give them the next best thing to a biological family and to ensure they are ready for the future God has for them. We came up with a plan to help as many children in this community as possible. This led us to form a nonprofit called B Loved Foundation, with the intention that every child should B Loved. What we created was small group homes of 8 children per home and hired moms to live in each home. Families were created with brothers and sisters these children could grow up with and a mom who will care for them. We also hired a project director who is the father figure for the children. Currently we are taking care of 56 children in 8 homes and are in the process of building a development center.

Not only does Baily’s Hyperformance have an enviable reputation for producing cars that turn wicked times, they turn heads too, as this collection clearly demonstrates...

to be exact.
Since the Demon came without a roll cage, a custom 8.50-cert cage was built by Dashbuilt Fabrication and a “Hell Yeah Brother” lever activates the parachute while twin Nitrous Outlet bottles provide the hit required to push the blown Hemi to the max. And by “the max”, we mean those 7-second quarter-mile elapsed
