Getting to Know | edublogs.org

STEP 1 • Open your favorite Web Browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc.)

• In the address bar write: www.edublogs.org • You'll be taken to Edublogs official website.

Creating a Blog STEP 2

Tip: Use an easy-to-remember username & password

• Click on the Free section on the edublogs.org homepage.

• You'll be taken to a form.

• In this form fill in your information such as: username, password, and e-mail address.

• Read the Terms of Service and if agree with them, click on "I agree.

• Click on the "Go to Step 2" button.

Creating a Blog STEP 3 • Fill in the following information: Blog Domain, Blog Name, Language, Blog Type, and Human Verification.

Tip: Blog domain can't be changed later!

The Dashboard STEP 4 Activate Easy Mode

• On Screen you'll see all the information you just inputed.

• Click the "Login to your new blog" button.

STEP 5

Dashboard: Is your blog working area

• You're now on your Dashboard.

• Get a look around.

It's similar to WordPress (Blogging Site)User Interface (UI).

Personalize your Blog | Themes STEP 6 • Click on the Appearance tab • Under "Appearance" click on "Themes".

• Click on "Activate"to change your blog's theme.

Tip: Click on "Preview" to see how your blog would look like!

Personalize your Blog | Widgets STEP 7 • Click on "Widgets" under the Appearance tab • Drag and drop them into the sidebar area.

• Click the downpointing arrow to personalize a widget.

As easy as drag-&-drop!

Personalize your Blog | Menu STEP 8 • Click on "Menu" under the Appearance tab.

• Click on the (+) sign to add a menu.

• Link a blog page, a website or a category.

Tips: In a menu you can add serveral items

Adding Users

• Click the " Users" tab.

• Click on "Add new" beside the title Users.

• Fill in the required information.

User Powers • Administrator: can do everything including complete power over posts, pages, plugins, comments, choice of themes, imports, settings, assign user roles and are even able to delete the blog.

• Contributor: can write own posts/pages but can't publish them; instead they are submitted for review. An administrator or editor then reviews and publishes their posts/pages.

Tip: Recommended role for students: Contributor Role for teachers: Administrator

• Write a Title for your Post.

• Write you content.

Adding Media | Posts STEP 11 • Want to add media: look under "Upload/ Insert:" above the post editor. • You can add: Images, Video, Audio and Files from your computer or the web.

Tip: Embed YouTube Videos into your posts

• Fill in the required information: username, password, e-mail, class name and verification code.

• Click on "Create Class"

Adding Users STEP 4 • Add your students.

• Click on "Users" tab.

• Click on "Add User" • Fill in a username & password for your student.

• Choose a role (Student) • Click on "Add New User

Tip: On Excel: Create a CSV file, Field 1: Username and Field 2 Password

Personalize your Blog STEP 5 • On your Dashboard click on the "Theme" button. or Choose the "Settings" tab.

• Then choose a theme for your blog by clicking on "Activate"

Tips: Click on preview to see how your blog would be like.
