STEP 1 • Open your favorite Web Browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc.) • In the address bar write: www.voicethread.com • You'll be taken to Voicethread official website.

Registering STEP 2

Tip: If you can't understand the human verification, click on the refresh button.

• On the Voice Thread homepage scroll down and click on "Get Started with VoiceThread. • Fill in your information (First Name, Last Name, E-mail, Password, Human Verification. • Click on the "Register" button. • You'll be taken to the homepage.

Exploring Voicethread STEP 3

Tip: The working area is simplified, buttons and tabs tell you what to do.

• On the homepage, Click on "Create". • You're taken to your voicethread working area. • View around and get to know your working area. • Click on "Add Title add description" above the buttons. • Write a title, a description and tags for your voicethread.

Creating a Video STEP 4 • Click on the "Upload" button. • Some options will show up (My Computer, Media Sources, URL, My Webcam) • Choose an option and begin adding content.

Uploading options:

Tip: Upload easily from your computer and online resources.

• My Computer: Videos on saved on your computer's hard disk. • Media Sources: Videos on VoiceThread, Flickr, Facebook, New York Public Library. • URL: add images you've just searched for. • My Webcam: Film your self with a webcam.

Editing STEP 5 • Select an image, and add a title and link or rotate, replace or delete it. • Click on "add a title and link" on the bottom of the image • On the dialog box write a title and copy an web address (URL) you want the image to take you to.

Commenting STEP 6

Tip: use the arrows at the sides to move to the next image.

• Click on the "Comment" button. • A slideshow with your uploaded images will appear. • Click on "Comment" and the following options to comment will appear: phone, webcam, microphone, type (text), and upload audio comment. • Choose any to comment.

Playback Options STEP 7 • On the left-sidecorner, Click on "Playback Options" button. • Change settings for your Voicethread. (Transition seconds, Playing, full screen, exporting options, copying options. • Click "Save" button.

Embedding STEP 8 • On the left-sidecorner, Click on the "Embed" button. • You can Post your voicethread to Facebook and Twitter, copy the embed code, or copy the link. • Select any option and close.

Tip: Embed your voicethread into your site.

Publishing STEP 9 • Click on the "Publishing Options" button. • Change publishing settings (privacy of the voicethread, comments, moderate comments.) • Click on "Save".

MyVoice STEP 10 • Click on the "MyVoice" tab, • View all your Voicethreads. • Share them with your students. colleagues.

STEP 1

Note:

• Open your favorite Web Browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc.) • In the address bar write: explore.live.com • Under "Other Products", click on "Windows Live Essentials link".

- Movie Maker is only integrated in Windows XP/Vista. - For Windows 7 you have to download Windows Live Essentials and Install Movie Maker and Photo Gallery. - Save your Movie Maker project, constantly. (Menu [blue button] > save project).

Downloading Movie Maker STEP 2 • Under "Get Windows Live Essentials" click on the "Download now" button. • Your browser will begin to Download the web-installer. • Depending on your browser, Click "run" on Internet Explorer and Click on the File on the Download bar on Chrome. Tip: Downloading time depends on your internet connection.

Installing Movie Maker STEP 3

Tip: The installation time depends on your internet connection.

• Windows 7: depending on your security settings (UAC) will ask you to allow the program to make changes, click on the "Yes" button. • Windows Live Essentials Setup will open. • Click on "Choose the programs you want to install" • Select Photo Gallery/Movie Maker. • Click on "Install"

Starting with Movie Maker STEP 4 • Open Movie Maker (Start Menu>All Programs>Movie Maker) • Movie Maker's User Interface (UI) is very similar to that of Microsoft Office 2010.

Explore Movie Maker and get used to its interface.

Creating a Movie | Adding Media Note: Create a folder to archive all files related to your movie. Movie Maker, links files and puts them together into a video.

STEP 5 • Drag & Drop your video/images/audio to the timeline area. • Organize them in the order you wish. Tip: Add as many images, video as wished.

Creating a Movie | Adding Titles STEP 6 • Click on the " Title" button in the Home tab>Add Section. • A black screen and title "My Movie" will appear. • Edit the text, change format in the Text Tools>Format Tab. Wordle is web based tool for generating "word clouds" from any text provided. www.wordle.net Tip: To Edit text, double-click on the text provided.

Creating a Movie | Adding Effects STEP 7 • Click on the " Visual Effects" tab. • Select the image/ video you want to add the effect to. • Select the effect you wish.

Tip: Select from a variety of effects. You can add multiple effects to an image/video.

Creating a Movie | Adding Animations STEP 8 • Select the "Animations" tab. • Add transitions or Pan and Zooming effects. • Select image/ video and select the transition you wish. • Transitions are applied before the selected object.

Tip: Transitions are in between images/videos.

Video Tools | Edit Tab STEP 9 • Regulate your video volume and speed. • Split or Trim a video (Set a start point and an end point).

Tip: Change background for your titles.

Creating a Movie | AutoMovie STEP 10 • Select an AutoMovie theme. • Animations, Titles, Transitions, Captions, Credits will be added automatically. • Personalize the text and you're almost done to publish.

Tip: Always make sure that the theme doesn't cover an important image.

SHARING:

You can share your videos directly to YouTube, Facebook, SkyDrive, Windows Live Groups, and Flickr

Publishing STEP 11

Tip: Movie publication time depends on the quality you choose.

• On the home tab look for the button "Save Movie". • Click on the downward arrow to view saving options. • Choose the quality of your video (For Computer, HD, Burn to DVD, For e-mail or for mobile devices). • Set where you wish to save the movie. • Click"Save". • Wait for the movie to be published.
