The Road Runners Club of America is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization with the IRS, and donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Income from membership dues and sponsorships cover only a portion of the revenue needed to support the mission of the RRCA. It is through the generous support of our members, individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations that we are able to develop, improve, and implement valuable programs that benefit the running community. The RRCA allocates annual contributions under three funds that support our mission. Charitable donations to the organization are not eligible for any marketing or corporate member benefits. However, all donors are publically acknowledged throughout the year and in the RRCA’s Annual Report. Annual Program Fund The RRCA allocates unrestricted contributions to the Annual Program Fund. This fund helps support the Kids Run the Nation program materials, Runner Friendly Community program, RUN@WORK Day and RUN@School Day promotional efforts, RRCA National Running Awards Ceremony including award winner travel stipends, Championship Events Series, 2000 Hour Volunteer Recognition program, Join a Club marketing efforts, history preservation efforts, State Representative volunteer program, and much more. Kids Run The Nation® Fund In 2007, the RRCA developed the Kids Run the Nation Fund to assists running clubs, events, schools, and other nonprofits interested in implementing or currently hosting youth running programs. This small grant program is funded by restricted contributions from RRCA members, individuals, foundations, and corporations. One-hundred-percent of the money raised is restricted to the grant fund, and no portion of your contribution to the Kids Run the Nation Fund is used for administrative expenses. The RRCA’s goal is to raise and grant over $30,000 in 2016. The demand for small grants to establish youth running programs is great. Your contribution of $1,000 or more provides a grant to a deserving youth program. Roads Scholar® : RunPro Camp Fund Since 1996, the RRCA has awarded 112 grants totaling over $510,000 (as of 2015) through the Roads Scholar program. The goal of the program is to assist post-collegiate, American runners who show great promise to develop into national and world-class road running athletes. The grants awarded by the RRCA go directly to the athletes to help support their goals of becoming world-class distance runners. The program is directed towards runners who are US citizens, have graduated from college, and plan to pursue elite distance running as a career. The RRCA’s goal is to provide six to eight $5,000 grants per year to deserving athletes. Founded in 2011, RunPro Camp is designed to be a “rookie” camp for new professional distance runners just coming out of college. Donations to RunPro Camp Fund provide for travel stipends to invited athletes to attend this educational camp.
