FREESTYLE CORRIDOR P L AY S PA C E O N A D A P T I V E S T R E E T
Freestyle corridor recombines existing condition of youth that has been focus of Alto Peru’s program and social values of people on sidewalk/street. Here, youth acts as activator and connector of three disconnected neighborhoods. Street and sidewalk--with existing condition how people use these as shared space--act as a physical and social asset to connect those neighborhoods by providing linear space for youth to play. This freestyle corridor aims to create playful linear space and reimagine street and sidewalk as more than just a generic corridor but as shared space of different kind of activities.

Alto Peru, a neighborhood located in Chorrillos, Lima, Peru, is located among three different environment; shoreline (clubs, fish market, and surfing area), Morro Solar (monument and planetarium), and formal neighborhood. As small neighborhood, these areas are accessible within walking distance. There are space attachments related to what is happening in Alto Peru. Within the neighborhood itself, there are some important places; playground on the center of neighborhood, school, Muay Thai plaza and Super Parque. These places are essential in this neighborhood and accommodate different activities for Alto Peru residents. But, the problem that is highlighted in this neighborhood is disconnection within itself. Alto Peru, even though considered small, is divided into 3 neighborhoods, which is marked by invisible line of two main streets. The challenge of this design is to connect those neighborhoods by using assets that Alto Peru already has and recombine those as new doable intervention.

PLUGGABLE DYNAMIC URBAN LIFESTYLE
“Pluggable” is a proposal for a mixed-use area of tiny residential, autonomous housing units and micro public amenities in Council Bluffs’s First Ave. abandoned rail corridor. Its goals are to increase the use and value of vacant land, enable access to desired landscapes, and improve neighborhood services. Pluggable is designed as a modular autonomous unit neighborhood that offers diverse experiences and atmospheres. It offers people rental lots in diverse environments lake, wood, and flowerfield where one can plug-in and live and work for a short period of time. As importantly, Pluggable is an open neighborhood that performs as accessible space with micro public service places for both house occupants and adjacentneighborhood residents.

CENTRE DE LA FEUILLE C U LT U R E , E N V I R O N M E N T, C I R C U L AT I O N
Culture Centre de la Feuille emphasizes the neighborhoods’ cultural ties as the gathering point for communities along the mouth of the Don River. The role of the rive as great connector and great divider has provided Torontonians historically with transportation, resources, and entertainment, whether frozen or thawed. Serving as a gateway point to the West Don Lands and a short train ride to downtown, this project connects adapting neighborhoods through year-round programming. The winter transforms inti a wonderland with an outdoor ice rink for all ages, while the summer offers Torontonians a place to enjoy the skyline view while watching a concert at the Centre. Environment East on River Levee design re proposes flood resilient measures on this site. It aims at recreation and prioritizes the pedestrian and the cyclist over the expressway along the river. The proposed pedestrian bridge connects to the regional network through the West Don River Trail. South Riverside neighborhood and the West Harbor community can safely access Corktown Commons open space after the completion of this partnership effort with the City of Toronto.

Circulation This project site is located along a new proposed multi-modal transit hub. Once completed this transit-oriented commercial and mixed-use development will be connected to downtown Toronto with a 15-minute train ride on the extended GO Track lines. The proposed circulation plan includes a southern extension of the Broadview Avenue as a major commercial corridor with a TTC street cas and bike lane connection to offer a variety of methods for transportation. To increase the mobility of pedestrians and bikers alike, this project’s environmental and recreational proposal further connects this intertwined fabric of the city.

| Elevation Reclaiming Broken Space: Sense of place associated with nature As a place where finding places for growing landscape is difficult, floating landscape project aims to improve this contextual condition of broken space with dense urban fabric where life quality is low by bringing green open space with fully consideration of its area condition. Greening riverside area and providing local inhabitants and citizens open space as a way for them getting closer to the nature; this project provides alternative strategy in growing landscape for riverside neighborhood as a way of beautification of riverside neighborhoods. This project uses local landscape elements and floating platform system which people in Banjarmasin have been familiar of.

Biophilia and Topophilia: Integrating physical environment and living environment Bringing green space into this type of riverside neighborhood is one way to enhance the environment quality. The type of dense neighborhood gives no proper room for natural environment such as landscape or green open space. This project aims to save physical environment in order to save the living environment as the act of saving natural world. Besides bringing benefits for people who live near that civic ecology space to get healthier and happier, this floating landscape project helps restoring local plants and giving good environment for other living things, such as groups of insects. By adding set of floating landscape platforms, it also helps to break the wave from boats which pass by that worsening the quality of riverside land.

Kelampayan, a suburban located in Martapura, Suth Borneo, has iconic element of religious site. Kelampayan has huge amoung of visitors who visit this sacred place from all over Indonesia every year. As an old area, Kelampayan also hide its traditional value in its buildings and culture. In this site, historic river which lies along Kelampayan become essential part of this area but still shows its negativity through uncontrollable settlements. Besides those three characterisitcs, Kelampayan also has productive community but undeveloped. In order to make better area and community, the proposed design focus on dividing area into three segments; traditional settlements area, promenade area (CBD), and community area (social, culture, and interaction). Historic river is designed as thematic green open space for tourism purpose by applying the local culture. This river also supports the activities of inhabitants who really engage to the river.

Linear neighborhood along the street and river shapes linear movement. Surrounded by wetland area (paddy field, farms, green wild space), inhabitants depend on this type of environment as main livelihood. Promenade area in second segment of Kelampayan plays as a place for local community development. Having skill in producing traditional crafts and foods, productive inhabitants are provided spaces in this area to sell their products as a way to enhance their economic lide and generally support tourism value od this site. Linear style and family-based mass of buildings become interesting element of Kelampayan. With several additional improvemenets, such as infrastructure development, environment elements, this design intends to bring better quality of live for inhabitants in the first place.

Banjarmasin as an urban are, located on wetland, make this city has difficulties in producing its own crops. By this condition, city imports vegetables and fruits outside Banjarmasin, causing high cost and low quality. This project focuses on bringing urban farming to city with local technique with some modern features added. Chosen site is ne t to rivers and part of green space in Banjarmasin. Beforehand, this site was wide garden but left by its owner. This site is also near with new development of settlements. This site has crucial benefit to establish this project with some considerations of e isting feature; wild trees. arden Market in Banjarmasin is public place which combines market facilities with urban wetland farming. Plantation system uses surja , local technique of farming on wetland as a right way to treat wetland area. By this system, tidal rivers act as initial element in irrigation system to the site. This garden market beneficially supports the local needs of better quality of food. Moreover, this project is purposed as educational and recreational space for urban people of Banjarmasin. Side benefits of this project are to educate people of how to grow their own food and provide the city the additional green space.
