CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION CID encompasses General Investigations, Special Enforcement Unit, Narcotics, Records, Identification Section and Property/Evidence. These units work in conjunction with each other and the other Divisions within the Department to provide the highest level of service possible.
COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION There were major changes in Public Safety Communications during the year. A overhaul of the infrastructure has begun. New ergonomic dispatch consoles have been installed, including the addition of two new ones. The two way radio equipment has been replaced with state of the art electronics and computer screens. Staffing level has increased to a department all time high.
In 2008, The Police Department completed the transition to all Black and White Patrol Vehicles.
The Patrol Division created five Corporal positions this year. Each Patrol Team has one Corporal assigned.
In 2007, Corporal Scott Tracy became the Police Departments K-9 Officer. Scott is seen here with his K-9 partner, Clint.
All Patrol Officers are now equipped with a Taser. The Taser is a less lethal use of force option. The Taser greatly reduces the chance of injuries to both Officers and Suspects by providing an alternative use of force option. The Taser has also provided Officers, on some occasions, a use of force option below deadly physical force. Without the Taser, this would not have been an option the Officers could have used.
