New work predominates as the Academy continues to set the pace in the wonderland of the British conservatoire scene. Plug scorches out of the blocks in April to set alight our Scottish Spring. The heat turns up in May with our Candid Cabaret in the Jack Bruce Space and at Òran Mór. Richard III will be riveting and Graham McLaren brings a new twist to our annual Shakespearian exploration with Sweet Sorrow. Our Masters and BA Acting students take us On the Verge, exploring new directions at the Arches in June, and do not miss our final year BA Technical and Production Arts students’ Graduation Show 2010 - you will be amazed by the cornucopia of creativity. Festivals ‘r us in the white nights of Scotland’s early Summer as we celebrate the bicentennials of both Chopin and Schumann in our Piano Festival. Enjoy the long evenings by attending one of the many concerts; you even have the opportunity to enjoy a rare performance of Chopin’s Cello Sonata by the masterly Johannes Goritzki on April 23. Stringday will be the culmination of a week of luthiers making a new viola in the Jack Bruce Space. This is worth a special visit. This year is also the 150th anniversary of Mahler’s birth, and the Summerfest concert on July 2 is a must - Schoenberg’s chamber arrangements of Mahler are worth dying for.

We add a Flute Festival for good measure this year; Jacques Zoon, Ruth Morley, Eddie McGuire and Kathryn Bryan are some of the hypnotic flautists weaving their magic. Phil Cunningham and Tommy Smith continue to bring the best of the best to the Academy in the fields of Traditional Music and Jazz, and if you’re like me, a died-in-the-wool Academy enthusiast, you’ll be contemplating slinging up the hammock in the café bar, in case you miss anything. So the Year of Big Promise has only failed in one respect - it has failed to disappoint, and, if you want to see what the future holds in Dance, come to the Academy Concert Hall on June 11, to see the first public performance by our Modern Ballet students in Improv and Dance. They perform the ballet based on eight of Chopin’s bestloved piano works - Les Sylphides - plus the added bonus of a new ballet based on Schumann’s Carnaval. And on the subject of ballet, we finish our symphonic series of Stravinsky’s complete ballets with Firebird conducted by Garry Walker, prefaced by Janá ek’s Sinfonietta. Prepare to be blown away by Big Promise Episode 3.

Pure Brass Monday 19 April A vibrant quintet, formed in 2006 by Academy students, Pure Brass has quickly achieved prominence within the Scottish chamber music scene. Winners of the RSAMD Governors’ Chamber Music Prize, Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music and the Norman Cooper Chamber Music Competition at the Aberdeen International Festival, they are part of the prestigious Live Music Now scheme, and have performed around Scotland, the UK and Northern Ireland. Catch them now for the Pure Brass Show, featuring television, film, classical and contemporary music.

Prelude to the Piano Festival Monday 7 June This year’s Piano Festival takes place from 9 - 13 June - see page 12. Enjoy this prelude with a recital of songs by Chopin and Schumann - two of the great Romantic composers, both being celebrated this year, the bicentennial of their births. Featuring students from Keyboard and Collaborative Piano and Vocal Performance Departments, the programme will also include Liszt’s solo piano transcriptions of songs by both composers. RSAMD International Fellow Johannes Goritzki gives a recital of some of the great repertoire for cello. Joined by Academy staff member John Thwaites, the programme includes works by Schumann, Beethoven and Chopin.

As part of the action-packed String Day, the Academy’s string players are led by International Fellow Ilya Gringolts in a programme of early works by two greats of the 20th century, Shostakovich and the Franco-Romanian Georges Enescu.

In between international recitals in Copenhagen, Helsinki and at the Wigmore Hall, world renowned pianist Steven Osborne performs his first RSAMD recital since being appointed the Academy’s International Fellow in Piano. It is well within the realm of possibility that Steven Osborne will become one of a handful of historically great Ravel interpreters… excellent and accomplished. American Record Review

The anniversaries of Mahler’s birth and death converge in 2010 and 2011. Song Studio begins the commemorations with two of Mahler’s great song cycles, in arrangements for voice and chamber ensemble. His grief-laden Kindertotenlieder (Songs on the Death of Children) is followed by his Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, the story of a spurned lover’s despair.

Supported by Duet Two Waltzes String Quartet No 3 in A major

International Fellows the Brodskys give their final performance of the academic year in a programme featuring the Third String Quartet by Robert Schumann. This is contrasted with two charming waltzes by the quintessential Czech composer Dvo ák.

Brass Extravaganza Friday 18 June This concert features special guests, old and new instruments, and ensembles of many shapes and sizes. BA Scottish Music End of Year Concert with Professor Phil Cunningham Friday 25 June Phil Cunningham is a wonderful entertainer, musician and raconteur. Here he leads the students of the BA Scottish Music course in this concert in honour of Phil’s Professorship of the Academy (see page 17 for more details).

Plug, the RSAMD’s annual contemporary music festival dedicated to first performances by Academy students and staff, is now in its fifth year, and continues to be a highlight in Scotland’s musical calendar. FESTIVAL PASS See more, save more.

Kick-started by the great Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin’s bicentennial, students and tutors of the Composition Department have been charged with writing a short work for piano. The Glasgow Études will be played in the Jack Bruce Space over five evenings prior to each Plug concert. The perfect prelude to an evening of exciting new sounds.

A multimedia show with live electronics, improvisation, installations and more, with new works by Juliette Philogene, Tim Cooper, Amy Strachan, James Hodges, Alasdair Inglis, Alasdair Mcaskill and Oles Klok. The Academy’s specialist contemporary music ensemble MusicLab takes on a programme of new music theatre works, including the premiere of Gareth Williams’ new Paris residency work Gethsemane, involving a cello choir. There will be a work by Chris Duncan to a specially written text, and as well as choirs and sax quartets, the stage will be full of unusual objects, including instruments of all sorts, actors, singers, one tap dancer, and a set of IKEA drawers. This evening concert is given over entirely to Red Note, the Academy’s Associate Contemporary Ensemble. The noise will be exhilarating as 15 players perform new works by composers including Richard Greer and Alexander Horowitz, as well as Academy staff member Oliver Searle. With diverse musical backgrounds, the players are rapidly making their mark as an exciting new ensemble. As part of Plug 2010, they return to their former haunt to perform new works by Alexander Horowitz, Richard Greer and a large scale work for quartet by Colin Broom.

Friday 28 May / All day A week’s worth of activities in one day. StringFest has become String Day, with a busy schedule of exciting concerts, masterclasses, talks and guest artists, including International Fellow Ilya Gringolts. Carrying on the StringFest tradition, some of Scotland’s best instrument makers return to spend a week in the Jack Bruce Space, with their newly finished viola receiving its first performance to finish off the day. String Day is made possible by the generous support of the Gordon Fraser Charitable Trust.

As part of String Day, the Academy’s string players are led by International Fellow Ilya Gringolts in a programme of early works by two greats of the 20th century, Shostakovich and the FrancoRomanian Georges Enescu. Chamber Music Masterclass with Robert Irvine 10am / Guinness Room / £3 (£2) Academy staff member Robert Irvine shares his vast experience in a class for string ensembles. New Viola - Lecture and Performance 3pm / Guinness Room / £3 (£2) Once again, the Academy’s String festivities include the building of a brand new instrument by luthiers over the course of one week. That new instrument in then heard for the first time ‘in the white’ in a recent composition for duo, alongside an ‘old’ instrument. This year, the new instrument is a viola, and the work is a duo by Edinburgh composer Nigel Osborne to be performed by BBC Scottish Symphony Principal Scott Dickinson, and Academy student Hua Zhong. String Department Showcase 5pm / Academy Concert Hall / £5 (£3) The Academy’s top string students perform a showcase programme of solos and ensembles to bring the RSAMD String Day to a finale. String Making in the Jack Bruce Space From Monday 24 May / From 10am / Free Starting on Monday 24 May, every day this week some of Scotland’s finest luthiers, (string instrument builders), will be in situ in the Jack Bruce Space in the café bar, building a new viola to be gifted to the Academy. You can come along to meet and talk to the creators, or just get a coffee and sit back to watch this fascinating process.

British Flute Society Flute Festival

Sunday 6 and Monday 7 June The British Flute Society and the RSAMD are delighted to announce a collaborative two day Flute Festival taking place in the Academy on Sunday 6th and Monday 7th June. The Festival welcomes world renowned Jacques Zoon as its guest international artist alongside Academy alumna and staff member, Ruth Morley. Katherine Bryan, Principal Flautist of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Academy staff member, will also perform, completing a tremendously diverse line-up. The Festival offers an all-encompassing programme of activities including recitals, masterclasses, as well as trade stands. The event culminates with an unmissable final evening recital given by Jacques Zoon accompanied by Scott Mitchell. Ruth Morley Masterclass on New Music Monday 7 June / 2.30pm / Academy Concert Hall / £3 (£2) Featured Festival artist Ruth Morley is a contemporary music specialist. This diverse session will feature performances of works from selected RSAMD staff and student composers, as well as the celebrated composer (and flautist) Eddie McGuire. Ruth will direct a masterclass on those works, as well as leading a discussion on topics such as setting up a chamber group and commissioning new works. Composers, including staff member Rory Boyle, will be on hand to offer insight into their compositions and the session will conclude with a performance of a commissioned work from an Academy student. Jacques Zoon Recital Monday 7 June / 7pm / Academy Concert Hall / £9 (£6) Unquestionably one of the world’s great flautists, Jacques Zoon has forged an international career as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician as well as teacher. Piano Festival Wednesday 9 to Sunday 13 June The Academy’s Piano Festival seizes the opportunity to celebrate two of the most important composers of music for piano celebrating bicentennials this year: Chopin and Schumann. The programme features exciting guests, including International Fellow Steven Osborne, Martino Tirimo, an astounding line up of chamber musicians, plus the remarkable talents of our own staff and students. Schumann Piano Quintet in E Flat Elgar Piano Quintet in A minor An all-star ensemble of chamber musicians from across Europe, including Daniel Rowland, familiar to Academy audiences as the charismatic leader of the Brodsky Quartet, begin the Piano Festival with a programme featuring Schumann’s quintet for string quartet and piano (the first essay in the genre) along with probably the finest British example by Edward Elgar.

Martino Tirimo will perform an all Chopin recital, featuring a number of very early works, and concluding with one of the major works of the repertoire, the 24 Preludes. His playing is among the most haunting and fascinating of all and the acme of musical refinement. The Daily Telegraph

Triologue Les Sylphides (To music by Chopin) Schumann Carnaval

A concert featuring compositions dedicated to and inspired by Chopin, finishing with a piano quintet version of the composer’s E minor Piano Concerto performed by three students from the piano department, Sylvia Jen, Marko Ernek and Pearl-Lynne Chen. Other composers featured with their homages include Villa Lobos and the world premiere of a song cycle by Marek Pasieczny.

The first half of this concert features Triologue, three amazing pianists improvising on three pianos: the Estonian Anto Pett, International Fellow Steven Osborne and Head of Keyboard and Collaborative Piano Aaron Shorr.

It is well within the realm of possibility that Steven Osborne will become one of a handful of historically great Ravel interpreters… excellent and accomplished. American Record Review

The second half will be a chance to witness the first collaboration between the Academy’s new School of Dance and the School of Music, and the first public performance by our Modern Ballet students. Summerfest 28 June to 2 July The final farewell of the academic year, Summerfest is packed with some of our finest soloists and ensembles, along with some very special guests. Once again, we feature the winners of our prestigious Governors’ Recital Prizes; MusicLab is given a send-off before making its BBC Proms debut; the Baroque Ensemble enchant with a programme from sunny Spain (and hopefully equally sunny Scotland); and Song Studio concludes what has been a remarkable 20092010 at the Academy with a poignant commemoration of the Mahler anniversary. All that, and we are joined by the Emerging Artists from Scottish Opera, including two Academy graduates. Ticket proceeds from this year’s Summerfest will be added to our student scholarships fund.

The Emerging Artists programme is a collaboration between the Academy and Scottish Opera to provide young singers with a year of full time work to launch their professional careers. In its first year, we present a concert featuring the three talented young artists selected for the programme: Nadine Livingston and two graduates of the RSAMD, Louise Collett and Miranda Sinani. We can promise you an entertaining and varied programme, with Timothy Dean from the RSAMD and James Grossmith from Scottish Opera accompanying.

We present two Symphony Orchestra concerts this term. The Concerto Concert is a great opportunity to spot who'll be moving and shaking in the music world in the future. In recent years the Royal Scottish Academy Symphony Orchestra has performed with an impressive list of visiting conductors, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Martyn Brabbins, Nicholas Cleobury, David Danzmayr, Stéphane Denève, James MacMillan, Joseph Swensen and Ilan Volkov. This term they continue their relationship with another regular visitor, the effervescent Garry Walker, as they return again to the splendid acoustics of the City Halls.

We hope to set your pulse racing as the Symphony Orchestra returns to the City Halls, joined once again by one of Scotland’s most talented young conductors Garry Walker. Janá ek’s Sinfonietta features a huge array of percussion and winds, which our musicians will relish the opportunity to play with gusto. The programme will finish with another exploration of Stravinsky’s wonderful ballet music; The Firebird was the beginning of his collaboration with Diaghilev, the director of the Ballets Russes. This dazzling piece brought overnight success to Stravinsky, and in the hands of Walker and our students we can promise you some virtuosic fireworks. Without qualification, the large-scale concert given on Thursday night by the RSAMD Symphony Orchestra featured some of the most outstanding playing I have heard… compelling, electric music-making, superbly paced by a master conductor and expertly delivered by fine young musicians. Dramaworks presents a packed programme of theatre projects for children and young people; six projects for anyone aged 5 to 17 who wants to have fun over the holidays and meet other people with an interest in drama. No previous experience necessary. Daily classes start at 10am and finish at 5pm.

Each summer the School of Drama presents a packed programme of specialist theatre courses for adults aged 17 plus (Modern Ballet, for those aged 13-17) and theatre professionals. Daily classes start at 9am and finish at 5pm.

All projects conclude with a sharing of the work created in the Academy's Chandler Studio Theatre, or on the streets of Glasgow.

Using random objects, music and most importantly ourselves, we will explore the idea of waste as a useful resource and why our society prioritises new things over old. Participants will work with the Academy’s teaching staff to develop performance skills in a series of workshops and masterclasses.

Devising Theatre

Individual and group activities will guide participants through established acting methodologies and techniques. As well as developing acting, voice and movement skills, participants will be encouraged to engage creatively with text and to explore character relationships and journeys.

Following the success of last year's Project DIY, the Academy’s intensive scriptwriting course is back.

Are you interested in making new theatre that is vibrant, challenging and meaningful in a changing society?

The course may be useful for anyone wishing to pursue a pathway to further training or explore a career in the field of acting.

Over the week you will work with a professional writer and director who will guide you through the creation, development and presentation of your writing as you learn about character building, performance, staging and storytelling techniques.

You will work with the Academy’s specialists in devising performance and other like-minded people to create an original piece of theatre, developing essential performance skills and exploring your own creative ideas.

Exploring a variety of locations across Glasgow city centre, from shop fronts to graveyards, you will create new worlds and characters. Five Days

For 15 - 17 year olds / £180 Over five days a professional director and a musician/composer will take you on a journey of theatrical and musical discovery. Exploring how each art form can inform and inspire the other, it is ideal for people interested in making music and theatre. This course is a great opportunity to try something new and develop skills in storytelling, music, movement, composition, voice, writing and dance.

The course may be useful for anyone wishing to pursue a pathway to further training or explore a career in the field of devised performance.

Design in Performance: Set and Costume or Lighting and Sound £750

Delivered by the Academy’s Design Lecturers and visiting guest specialists, and consisting of practical and theoretical teaching and group projects, participants have the opportunity to develop and apply new design skills. The course will culminate in a presentation which may provide participants with evidence for portfolio building and an opportunity to publicly present their work. It may be useful for anyone wishing to pursue a pathway to further training or explore a career in the field of design.

Musical Theatre

Led by Martin Mallorie, the Academy’s award-winning Lecturer in Design and Props, the first part of the course offers an introduction to prosthetics including casting and sculpting techniques and the opportunity to produce special effects prosthetics for stage and film. The second part will delve into advanced level design and realisation. Working with both traditional and cutting-edge materials, participants will be supported and guided by experienced industry professionals.

Moving at an energetic pace, the course will focus on the skills needed to interpret Musical Theatre material. Participants will work with industry professionals to develop skills in acting through song, character development, dance and movement work, singing skills and stylistic choice.

The only one of its kind in the UK, this course is a fantastic opportunity for those wishing to explore this specialist craft at the next level, pursue a pathway to further training or explore a career in the field of prosthetics.

Modern Ballet £250

This exciting new course is for people interested in either acting for camera or in the technical production of digital film and television (DFTV). Working with the Academy’s Acting and DFTV staff, performance and production skills will be explored and developed, culminating in the production of a show reel of material.

Professors in Performance The Academy is delighted to honour two of its distinguished members of staff who have been conferred with the prestigious title of Professor of the RSAMD.

The course may be useful for anyone wishing to pursue a pathway to further training or explore a career in the fields of performance or production for film and television.

Professor Christopher Underwood has been Head of Vocal Performance at the Academy for over 15 years and will share some of the experiences from his singing and teaching career in a talk and masterclass with singers from the Opera course.

This course is for young people aged 13 - 17 who are interested in developing skills in classical ballet technique, repertoire, jazz and contemporary dance. It will be led by the Academy’s BA Modern Ballet teaching team and specialist guest tutors. The course is practical, rigorous and aims to prepare young dancers working towards vocational dance training. Participants will take part in daily classical technique classes and masterclasses. Although participants do not need to have any formal dance qualifications, previous dance experience is essential and participants should be working at Intermediate level in ballet to benefit fully from the course. 16 - 20 August

Stand Up Comedy £400

This one week course for budding comedians will be led in partnership with The Stand Comedy Club. Throughout the week professional comedians will cover the basics of stand up comedy and support you in the development of material for performance. Areas covered will include character and sketch development, improvisation, microphone technique, stage presentation, dealing with audiences and how to sell yourself in this competitive industry. A great opportunity to learn from the professionals, flex your funny muscles and perform your very own material at a live gig.

Professor Phil Cunningham is known and loved by audiences across Scotland and around the world, and is Artistic Director of our Scottish Music course. Saturday 26, Monday 28, Wednesday 30 June and Thursday 1 July / 7.15pm / New Athenaeum Theatre / £18 (£14) Sung in Italian with English subtitles Le nozze di Figaro is one of the great operatic masterpieces. Over ‘one mad day’ an array of colourful characters, from the philandering Count and his long-suffering wife, to an over-sexed page boy and a drunken gardener, are all neatly out-manoeuvred by two clever servants, soon to be married. The drama is as much about complex human relationships as it is farcical comedy.

The play by Beaumarchais was at first banned because of its satire of the aristocracy, and the opera was equally provocative. The audience of 1786 saw their own lives played out on the stage. They saw the lord of the manor outwitted by his servant, Figaro, then forced to make a public plea for his wife’s forgiveness. Europe was on a journey towards a more liberal society in which servants would be treated as individuals with rights. Le nozze di Figaro was a staging post on that journey, leading inexorably toward the start of the French Revolution three years later in 1789.

Shudderin thistle gie owre, gie owre.... Hugh MacDiarmid's poem, with its infamously thrawn narrator, is set to music of huge imagination and vibrancy by Glasgow composer William Sweeney. Performed by the Academy’s associate contemporary music ensemble, Red Note, this is a night of humour, inebriation, beauty, politicallycharged comment and wild musical and literary invention.

Konrad Wiszniewski is one of Scotland’s most sought after saxophonists, with a full schedule of live and broadcast performances. He has been involved in the vibrant Scottish jazz scene from his early teens, and here joins our jazz students for a Blue Monday which will keep your toes tapping through Spring. A really exciting new talent on the scene with a great flair for writing original material, which makes him a real force to be reckoned with. BBC Radio 3 Guitar Concert Tuesday 8 June / 7.30pm / Guinness Room / £5 (£3) The Academy has a growing reputation for fostering outstanding guitarists, and in this concert, staff member Allan Neave leads students in a programme of solos and ensembles.

Scottish Music Year I Gaelic Fortnight Showcase Friday 11 June / 7.30pm / Guinness Room / £5 (£3) The Gaelic Fortnight is an annual intensive period of study in Gaelic language, song and dance undertaken by the BA (Hons) Scottish Music students at the end of their first year of study at the Academy, culminating in this polished vocal showcase programme. Richard’s wit, his ruthless rise to power and his spectacular downfall guarantees popularity. Richard is one of Shakespeare’s most abhorrent, yet charismatic creations. He is Vice writ large, a darkly enjoyable figure. A kind of Chorus or Master-of-Ceremonies, he makes us, the audience, complicit with his evil machinations right from the start; he works us as a comedian works a house, or confidence-tricksters work their dupes. But he is not as fearless as he seems, and comes to be haunted by his murderous deeds. A company of eight second year acting students play out this mythical tale, a great and bloody tragedy. After playing in Glasgow, they go to Essen, Germany, to perform in the prestigious Shakespeare festival organised by the Folkswang-University.

Ten of our second year acting students will embark upon a live theatre experiment with internationally acclaimed theatre maker Graham McLaren. Critics and practitioners have noticed the parallels between both plays; each features young lovers, forbidden love, a meddling nurse and friar, and a tragic ending. In the Sweet Sorrow project, key scenes from both plays will be used to explore shared themes and highlight the differences between the two playwrights and the different times in which they were written. Adapted from Bulgakov’s novel, Black Snow which highlighted the censorship that he suffered under the Stalinist regime, this new version by Keith Dewhurst is bitingly funny. Performed by third year acting students, it follows the life of one down-at-heel writer, Sergei Maksudov; a failure not only as a novelist but also in his vain attempts to hang himself. One fateful night, a knock on the door catapults him from the pit of despair to the heady inner circle of Moscow’s Independent Theatre ruled by the flamboyant Ivan Vasilyevich’s (a thinly disguised parody of the Moscow Art Theatre and the autocratic Konstantin Stanislavski). They want to adapt his bulky unpublished manuscript Black Snow for the stage. As our hapless hero wends his way through the lunatic maze of the theatre world, he quickly discovers that artistic success is fraught with artistic compromise and artistic integrity is not all it should be. For three days, the Academy’s drama venues are transformed to showcase the talents of these technical and production artists and designers before they graduate into the profession. In a themed environment designed by the students, props, costumes, scenic art work, design drawings and models, lighting, sound and stage technology combine to create a visual feast of theatre making skills and achievements.

Academy Artists Explore New Directions Monday 21, Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23, Thursday 24 June / The Arches / 5.30pm - 10.30pm / £5 per night, or £15 for all four nights Tickets available from RSAMD and The Arches The Arches hosts diverse pieces of theatrical work from some of the country’s exciting new voices. Over four days, audiences are invited to share in the exploratory processes of emerging artists from the MA Classical and Contemporary Text and BA Acting and Contemporary Performance Practice programmes. Artists will question and push the boundaries of the theatrical form in scratch presentations including pieces developed in conjunction with the Playwrights’ Studio Scotland alongside devised performances; newwriting and solo-performance based upon classical text; visual art; folk-tales and our contemporary existence. On the Verge promises to be raw, provocative and exciting.

The Academy offers access to the performing arts to people of all ages via weekly classes, short courses and training with our Dramaworks, Musicworks, Danceworks and Filmworks programmes. Early Years music classes are for babies and children from 0-7, and follow the Kodály approach to experiential learning. They are led by a team of professional Early Years Music Specialists, and develop music and imaginative skills whilst promoting social interaction and independence - and fun!

Methods of Payment The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama accepts the following methods of payment: Cash, Cheques (made payable to Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama), all major credit and debit cards (excluding American Express and Diners Club). Please note a 3% charge applies when paying by credit card, in person or over the telephone. We can post your tickets to you, for an additional 60p. Online bookings incur a £1 transaction fee (per booking regardless of number of tickets), this includes postage costs and any card fees. Ticket Reservations Tickets can be reserved for up to 3 days but will be released for general sale 24 hours prior to the performance if no payment has been received. For free events a ticket will still need to be obtained from the Box Office to gain admission. Café Bar The café bar, operated by Where the Monkey Sleeps, offers delicious coffee, freshly baked cakes and pastries and an excellent range of sandwiches and paninis. On performance evenings a fully-licensed bar operates and is open one hour before all performances. It is also possible to pre-order interval drinks. The café bar is also open to the public throughout normal opening hours.

Access All Areas The Academy offers many facilities for patrons with disabilities and we will always endeavour to meet individual needs. All our public areas are fully accessible for those with limited mobility. Level access is available from Renfrew Street main entrance at the ground floor or via the automatic door from our Hope Street entrance. Disabled parking is available nearby. Lifts serve all floors and accessible toilets are provided. Wheelchair spaces are available in all venues, however, we do advise booking these in advance. For our hearing impaired patrons all venues are fitted with an induction loop and for those who are visually impaired, guide dogs are welcome. If you have any special requirements please notify the Box Office at time of booking. Terms and Conditions Full terms and conditions of booking can be obtained from the Box Office. Musical Theatre at Edinburgh Fringe Following on from the 5* sell-out success of Jerry Springer - The Opera at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, our MA Musical Theatre students will be back in August with the Scottish Premiere of the multiple Tony award winning and Olivier nominated Spring Awakening.
