How to convert .pptx to text file using Office 2013 PowerPoint 2013 can be used to convert .pptx file to .txt file. This is quite useful when you want to send out content from PowerPoint file to contacts without having PowerPoint installed on their system. Step 1: Open the .pptx file in PowerPoint 2013.

Step 2: Click File menu and select Save as from the menu option.

Step 3: Select Outline/RTF(*.rtf) in Save as type drop down. Step 4: Now open the .rtf file in Microsoft Word 2013 then click File menu and select Save As.

Since I want only the text, I have gone with Outline only option. Step 4: Click OK button to start exporting the presentation from PowerPoint to Microsoft Word. This should launch a new word document with content from PowerPoint Presentation.

How to increase the maximum number of undo in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 In Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, the default value for the maximum number of undos is set to 20. There might be circumstances where you would like to revert more than 20 changes and in this case you can increase the maximum number of undos in PowerPoint using Options screen. 

Under Editing options, there is a field for specifying the Maximum number of undos.

By this way you can increase or decrease the number of undos in PowerPoint. How to change the number of recent documents in PowerPoint 2010 The recent PowerPoint documents are displayed under the Recent menu. The number of recent documents displayed is set to a default value of 20. This default value can be changed using the PowerPoint options. Click on the File menu –> Options link and Navigate to Advanced tab

Scroll down to Display section and using the Show this number of Recent Documents you can change the number of Recent documents displayed under Recent menu. Enable display of shortcut key in PowerPoint 2010 ScreenTips PowerPoint 2010 displays information like ScreenTip when you place the mouse pointer on the menu option. In the advanced options, scroll down to the display section and mark the check box with label as Show shortcut keys in ScreenTips. This would display the shortcut keys in the ScreenTips for a menu option.

How to turn off the popup toolbar in PowerPoint 2010 PowerPoint 2010 displays a popup toolbar at the bottom of the screen during a full screen slide show. This toolbar can be used for navigating between the slides and also for apply annotations during the presentation.

PowerPoint provides user with an option to turn off this popup toolbar. This can be done using the PowerPoint Advanced Options. Click the file menu –> Options link and click the Advanced tab.

In Advanced Options, navigate to Slide Show section. To turn off the display of popup toolbar, un mark the checkbox with label as Show popup toolbar. After making the necessary changes, click OK button to confirm the changes. How to convert a PowerPoint 2010 to PDF One of the easiest and simple way of converting a PowerPoint slides to PDF is using Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010. 

How to change the slide layout in PowerPoint 2010 Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 provides option for changing the slide layout. For example if you want to change the layout of the first slide from Title and Caption to just Title then you can use Layout menu option for doing this. The layout option can be accessed from the Home menu. To change the layout of a slide In the home menu option, navigate to slides section and click the drop down arrow next to Layout menu option.

How to change the background style in PowerPoint 2010 slides PowerPoint 2010 allows users to change the background style of the slides. You Change the background style using the Design menu option and customize style depending upon your presentation theme. To change the background style in PowerPoint 2010, click Design menu and then navigate to Background section.

Click the down arrow available next to Background Styles to customize the PowerPoint Slide.

Selecting the preferred style from the list would immediately change the background style of the slide.

How to reset slide settings in PowerPoint 2010 PowerPoint 2010 has a reset option that can be used for resetting the position, size and formatting of slide place holders to the default settings. Set the value for ScreenTip style dropdown to Don’t show ScreenTips and click OK to confirm and save the changes. This would disable the display of screen tips for all menu items in PowerPoint.

Start PowerPoint Slide Show using Windows Explorer Windows users can also start a PowerPoint slide show using Windows Explorer. This is the quickest way to start a Slideshow without launching PowerPoint then selecting the Slide Show view. To start PowerPoint Slideshow using explorer, navigate to the stored location of the PowerPoint Presentation file. Then right click on the file, from the context menu select Show from the list of available menus.

Change default file location in PowerPoint 2010 PowerPoint 2010 has the default file location set as C:\Users\<username>\Documents\ in a Windows Vista or Windows 7 Operating System. This is the location that will be shown and used as the default location when a user tries to save a presentation file.

PowerPoint provides users with option for changing this default file location to some other folder of your choice. To change the default file location in PowerPoint 2010, click the File menu then the options link. In PowerPoint options window, navigate to Save options and then to the Save presentations section.

In Save presentation section, set the folder of your choice for Default file location. For example if you set it to C:\Projects then the Save or Save As option would now default to the newly set folder location as shown below.

2. Using File –> Save As The other alternate way to protect a presentation file is to use the General Options same as password protection of a PowerPoint 2007 presentation. Click the File mu then the Save As option. In the Save As dialog box, select General Options available as part of tools drop down list.

Using the General Options, you can set password to open as well as password to modify a PowerPoint presentation file. After entering the required details, click OK to confirm and save the changes.

To remove password protection for a presentation, Navigate to Protect Presentation section as discussed earlier and select the Encrypt Password from the list. Now clear the password that was already set for the Presentation then click OK to confirm the changes.

This would display the Slide and the notes pane with larger area for adding notes.

How to hides slides in PowerPoint 2010 There might be scenarios were you have to show the same presentation to different audience. And you may have slides which are specific to each groups. Instead of removing these slides from the presentation you can hide them so that during the slide show only the relevant slides will be displayed to the individual groups. Now select the slide or slides that you want to hide and click the Hide Slide menu option. The hidden slides will have a cross mark as shown below.

If you want to unhide any slides, then select the slides and click again on the Hide Slide menu option. How to set screen resolution in PowerPoint 2010 PowerPoint 2010 allows users to set the screen resolution for a presentation. The screen resolution will be used during the full screen slide show. Specify screen resolution in PowerPoint Users can specify the screen resolution using the option available as part of Slide Show menu. How to change slide orientation in PowerPoint 2010 In this tutorial we will see how to change the slide orientation in PowerPoint 2010. PowerPoint allows users to change the slide orientation using the option available as part of the Design menu. Click the arrow pointing downward below for Slide Orientation and select Portrait or Landscape based on your requirement.

You can also change the Slide Orientation using Page Setup option.

How to change zoom level in PowerPoint 2010 The default zoom level set for PowerPoint slides in normal view is 88%. But you can change the zoom level using the option provided as part of the view menu or using the slider control in status bar.

Select your preferred zoom level then click the Ok button to apply the zoom setting to PowerPoint View.

If you want to revert to the original Zoom value then click Fit to Window option available under Zoom section.

Different Presentation views in PowerPoint 2010 PowerPoint 2010 has different presentation views with each one designed for specific purposes. The four different views available in PowerPoint are 

Reading View

Normal Normal is set to be the default presentation view (but you can change default view) and you will be working on this view most of the time when making any changes to the current slide. This view also has Notes Page Pane at the bottom of the screen. Slide Sorter Slide Sorter view allows users to navigate easily between different slides. You can easily apply any changes to all the slides from this view Notes Page Notes page view is suitable view for adding notes to PowerPoint. Check out adding notes to slides for more information on this view. Reading This shows the slide that fits within the window and you can change to this view when you want to proof read or rehearse. PowerPoint users can navigate between different views by clicking the view menu and using the menu options available as part of Presentation section.

If you want to quickly navigate all the views expect Notes Page then you can use the option available as part of the status bar.

How to enable spell check in PowerPoint 2010

This short tutorial provides the steps to be followed to enable spell check in PowerPoint 2010. Click the File menu then options link.
