The STAR Management Week is the largest on-campus business event in the Benelux. This professional and prestigious event is the annual highlight of the RSM and takes place in November. As a member of the STAR Management Week committee, you will be responsible for the organization of the entire event; from the various recruitment activities to the Honorary Discussions with numerous CEO’s at the end of the week. This variety of events makes the committee a truly diverse and unique experience. On top of this, you will be thinking to optimize the event in the lang term. This is the chance to developing yourself at every possible level. Are you ready to organize an event with over 1,000 participants this year?

Open to Dutch and International Bachelor and Master students. We are looking for affiliation, enthusiasm and ambition. Experience is not required.
The STAR Management Week committee starts by the end of February 2016 with 2 days a week. From April until the beginning of November the committee will be full-time. During the summer, the committee will be present at university full-time as well. Because organizing the STAR Management Week is a full-time job, you will not be able to spend much time studying. Therefore, STAR will provide you with financial compensation for any delay in studying.
Depending on specific circumstances, the organization of the STAR Management Week grants BA students the opportunity to receive 15 ECTS and can be used as a bachelor internship during your 7th trimester. For more information you can contact +31 (0) 408 2037
After the application closes, you will be invited for your first interview. This first interview will serve to get to know each other, talk about the project in general and to manage expectations. If you are invited for the second interview, we will ask you to prepare a function specific case to use during the interview.

The STAR Academy is the learning center within STAR that offers members the opportunity to develop their personal and professional skills. The level of development opportunities increases with the intensity of involvement respectively: passive members, active members and full-time active members. As a fulltime member of STAR you will have the maximum opportunity to develop yourself! Every committee member follows a personalized track which starts with filling in your own Personal Development Plan. This Plan forces you to be concious about your ambitions regarding personal learning goals. Based on these goals, STAR will make sure you receive suitable trainings. These trainings can be categorized in hard skill training (acquisition training and InDesign training) and the soft side of development (for example leadership training and team-building). Besides that, you as a full-time committee member, will receive three sessions of management training at a renowned management training company. During the year there will also be plenty of feedback and learning goals meetings to ensure you develop yourself personally and professionally.
Lastly, you will get your own coach, a full-time alumni having plenty of work experience in the corporate world, to give you regularly feedback and support on your personal development.
The social part of STAR Once you are an Active Member, your social network will start to grow immediately. You will have dinner with your committee on Wednesday and go to Café De Vrienden Live for the weekly drinks afterwards. Also, you can experience the sensational theme nights, the Christmas Gala, the Active Members Day, the Active Members Weekends, and many more. As a member of the STAR Management Week Committee you will even get your own spot at the office at T4 and you will be in close contact with the STAR Board to share your creative ideas with them.

As the treasurer of the STAR Management Week you will be responsible for a 130.000 euro budget. You will safeguard the financial health and continuity of the STAR Management Week, guide your team in making smart decisions regarding expenses and keep the bigger picture in mind. You will do this by working closely together with your committee members and by understanding you are not the sole decision maker. The function of treasurer is a challenging one as you will need to be organized and disciplined and keep an objective view of possible expenses and revenues. It requires great people skills and the ability to stand firm and say “no” to your enthusiastic team members. It is your task to stay realistic and manage the budget, while respecting their ideas and being certain about where you stand as a committee financially. What will be your responsibilities?

As Commissioner of Commercial Relations of the STAR Management Week you will be the salesperson of the project. Together with your fellow commercial you are responsible for the aquisition of companies such as Microsoft, Shell and Unilever. The 50 participating companies drive a large part of the SMW financially and therefore you have to match the companies to the activities that will be organized during the STAR Management Week. You have to keep a close eye out for the needs of both the students and the companies, as these interests do not always align. The function of commercial is for those who know how to sell the project and its’s actvities, requiring a pro-active mindset, strong communication skills, out-of-the-box thinking and knowing how to close the deal. What will be your responsibilities? • • • • • • •
Convince some of the biggest companies in the world to participate in your event Creating and executing an acquisition strategy Value and sell the project from a commerical perspective Meet the recruiters of multinational companies at the negotiation table Bring students and companies together for future employment Sign four digit contracts Close deals for up to 6000 euro’s
As one of the two Commissioners of Speakers you will offer students the opportunity to get inspired by organising academic events, trainings and the Honorary Discussions. You will bring many famous leaders to the Erasmus University for example Nick Jue (CEO ING), Juul Manders (CEO BALR) and Margot Scheltema. The function of speakers asks for creativity to think of new concepts and themes for events, the guts to attract and stay in touch with speakers and guests, and organisational skills to make it all come together. You also have know how to sell the project and its’s actvities, requiring a pro-active mindset, strong communication skills, out-of-the-box thinking and knowing how to close the deal. What will be your responsibilities? • • •

As Commissioner of Events of the STAR Management Week you will be responsible for the minute-to-minute planning of the entire week. The planning, logistics, operations and the event itself are in your full responsibility. At early stages, supporting your team on functional areas is essential. Later on, you will, among others, make arrangements for locations, catering, and decoration, and set up a crew. During the week itself, you are the organizational center on whom everyone can rely. The function of Commissioner of Events is all about turning separate parts of work into one great event. What will be your responsibilities? • • •
Make a minute-to-minute planning for the entire week Keep an overview of the plan of action during the week Make arreangement for all facilities, catering and communication systems Manage the crew and operations during the week Support your team at early stages in their functional areas Invole the active members and manage their participation
