THIRD IN ROAD RELAY
T h i s year the r a c e was h e l d on Saturday,Mareh 3rd, over the now f a m i l i a r course of.' E? miles.The c o n d i t i o n s f o r the raoe were f a r from i d e a l . There was a c o l d , b l u s t e r i n g wind blowing a g a i n s t the runners a t the staift, down Rotten Row. Twenty-two teams l i n e d up f o r the s t a r t , a r e c o r d number f o r the event. Every one went away v e r y f a s t - the f i r s t two hundred yards were almost a f l a t sprint. At Marble Arch, i t was seen that L.S.E., Lough borough, R.V.Gigg's team, and King's were w e l l up i n f i u m t t with I.C. r u n n i n g a d i s o r g anized twelth. T h i s order was maintained u n t i l the sedond l a p , but I.C. began to move up t o e i g h t h position; Loughb&rough, a f t e r two l a p s were some 100 yds. c l e a r Of King's, w i t h R.V.Gigg's team and L.S.E. w e l l back. A f t e r f o u r l a p s King's had overtaken Loughborough, and had b u i l t up a c o n v i n c i n g lead - I.C. by v i r t u e of some e x c e l l e n t running by G.C.Kay and M.Garrod were now running t h i r d , ahead of Birmingham and Manchester, w i t h B a t t e r s e a P o l y . , These p o s i t i o n s the holders i n s i x t h p o s i t i o n .

I n t r o d u c i n g the p r e s i d e n t , t h e c h a i r m a n m e n t i o n e d t h a t Mr. B i s h o p had s t a r t e d h i s c a r e e r by s t u d y i n g i n t h e G u i l d s ' D e p a r t m e n t o f M e c h a n i c a l E n g i n e e r i n g a n d M o t i v e Power and had been C h i e f E n g i n e e r o f t h e B .
