Best Barbeque Restaurant and Best Onion Rings Fat Daddy's Bar-B-Que Fat Daddy’s Bar-B-Que was voted Best Barbeque Restaurant by readers of The Courier. Fat Daddy’s is located at 104 North Denver Ave. in Russellville and is operated by general manager Eric Frye. “Being honored as Best of the Best is a testament to the dedication of the staff at Fat Daddy’s to consistently serve the best barbeque in the River Valley,” Frye said.

Best Convenience Store PDQ West PDQ West opened in 1989. Since its opening date, it has added a car wash and also a credit card express lane behind the store. Since opening day, the store still has some of the same customers that were in the store on opening day that continue to trade with them. The store’s cooler has recently been remodeled as well as the gasoline dispensers. Consistency with quality products, clean facility and friendly service is what continues to get the readers to vote PDQ West the Best of the Best.

Best Pharmacist R.D. Walker R.D. Walker, pharmacist and owner of C&D Drug Store, said he is honored to be named best pharmacist for 2015 in the Arkansas River Valley. Walker has been a pharmacist since 1981. He purchased C&D Drug Store, which was established in 1958, from business partner Charles Oates in 1990. The location has housed a drugstore since 1877, making it one of the oldest drug stores in the Natural State. He was appreciative to all who made this award possible. “Our customers and our hard working staff,” Walker said. “I learned from my dad and Oates to never take a customer for granted. At C&D, we know our customers have a choice and we are honored by their ongoing loyalty. On a daily basis the staff goes above and beyond to make sure each customer’s needs are met.” In 2009, Walker’s niece, pharmacist Yanci Walker, joined the pharmacy staff at C&D, which also includes pharmacist Melinda Reams.

Best Diet Restaurant Subway The River Valley currently has seven Subway stores. Floyd and Dona Manly opened the first store in Russellville in 1985 at 405 S. Arkansas Ave. That store is currently owned by their daughter, Lisa Altman, along with stores located at 2410 E. Parkway Drive and 101 Lake Front Drive. Lisa sold three of her stores to Alan Covington a few years ago. Those stores are located at 2716 West Main Street in Russellville and one in Dardanelle. Another is located in Danville. The seventh Subway store in the River Valley is owned by Pilot. “We wish to thank the River Valley for their continued patronage over the years,� a spokesman said. “Whenever you’re in the mood for Subway, the restaurants have a wide variety of subs, salads and sides to choose from. Best Tacos Taco Villa Taco Villa was opened in 1974 by Austin and Mary Davis. The restaurant was purchased by Virgil and Betty Spears in 1976, and they kept growing and finetuning the restaurant until January 1993. Kit and Cindy Kitterman then bought the restaurant and own it today, still using the original recipes. Best Real Estate Agent Jane Bowden As an executive broker/salesperson, I have worked in real estate related fields all my working life, first as legal secretary for local attorney who did majority of real estate business in the area; then in 1978 became licensed as real estate broker. In 1951, he moved the dealership to Morrilton. In 1969, his son, J.B. Maus Jr., took over, just a few years after the 1966 construction of a new, 21,000-squarefoot dealership. Hodges Wrecker Service Jack Hodges, owner of Hodges Wrecker Service, graduated from Dardanelle High School in 1975 and attended Arkansas Valley Technical College for three years. He opened his first shop in 1979 on South Second Street in Dardanelle. Hodges bought Carroll Wrecker Service in 2003 and began a full line of wrecker services. Hodge’s sons, Eric and Jackie, joined the business; Jackie runs the large wrecker and equipment hauling division. Hodges now employs 30 people within the truck shop and wrecker service.
