How did you come up with the concept of Monza Fashion Studio? Monza’s is my humble effort built on the joy I get out of appreciations and love for my creations. I wouldn’t say I have always been dreaming of this and was itching to start my fashion brand, but it was just a journey towards self-realization. Though clothing and fashion was always my interest, I was inclined towards pursuing film making and visual designing. It was after my marriage I slowly and strongly started to feel the calling. I was immediately confident to start and from there on it was the love of our customers which has taken us this far. This is our first baby and will be always be special. What are the first things customers see when they walk through the doors? I notice that the things which attract the customers first up are our collections we display on the mannequins. It’s a practice we change every day for our mannequins. Other things which our customer notice and are appreciative about are the welcoming and enthusiastic smile of our staffs and a calm, homelike and personalized shopping experience. Do you customize party wears and lehangas? We primarily customize variety of Indian ethnic wear outfits like cocktail dresses, Saree Gown, Reception Gowns, Lehangas, Crop-Top, Bridal Blouses, and Bridal Lehangas. We are also excited to see our kids wear and mom & daughter matching outfits, fast becoming our specialty lately. We cater to international and domestic markets providing our customers with utmost satisfaction from our designs and quality. What is one thing you think customers should know about your store that they may not be aware of? Monza’s was launched in the year 2013. The brand was developed specially for today’s smart generation of ladies who has travelled and has a taste which is quintessentially native and acquired and it has been consistently delivering exclusive styled outfits. We are excited by the brand’s global acceptance. What do you specialize in? Monza’s offers services that combine the expertise of a personal stylists and the artistry of their master tailors to create distinctively beautiful outfits for ladies. We absolutely love colors and the grandeur that is inspired by different traditions of Indian culture. With our store located in Chennai, aesthetic perfection and comfort come together for a truly personalised experience at Monza’s. How Monza is different from other stores? Besides the uniqueness in terms of our creations we are proud of the fact the brand Monza’s considers ‘Customer Experience’ as one of its important pillar. The experience starts with the approach to the store itself and its an on-going thing from there. We have heard from our customers that softer aspects like child friendly ambiance, courteous sales people giving personalized attention to them and ample car parking space goes a long way to establish a good shopping experience.

The speakers were well-accomplished pundits in the domestic & international wedding planning industry with almost everyone possessing an experience of more than 10 years and have carried out high-profile extravagant weddings & destination weddings. With a rich assortment of speakers, the 4th edition threw light at the growing trend of aspirational weddings, destination weddings, pricing strategies for wedding planners, the impact of social media on wedding promotions and much more. Acclaimed wedding planners like Wayne Gurnick, Joe Blackman, Meher Sarid & Ankit Bhargava were the steering committee members for the event.

After taking the conference to a global platform with the last two editions in Barcelona, Spain & Dubai, UAE, EWPC is now recognized as a global brand with a revered following among the wedding planner’s fraternity across Asia, Middle East & Europe. The notion behind the conference has been successfully realized by witnessing thriving business relationships between many wedding planners & vendors. As Goa is considered one of the hubs of destination weddings in India, no one could think of a better place to organize this conference which blends in leisure and business in the most apposite manner. The conference kicked off in La-Brise by Novotel Goa Resort & Spa with a sunset beach party where all the attendees adhered to the “All White Outfit” theme of the party. For the first time, EWPC launched the wedding planner awards which aims to acknowledge the outstanding work of wedding planners over the course of last twelve months. The conference witnessed many young & Impressive talents from the wedding planning fraternity aspiring to take this industry to greater heights in years to come along with the accomplishment of new business relationships between the wedding planners and the vendors for undertaking the marriages lined up for the season ahead. With this edition, EWPC has etched a strong impression in the India Wedding Planning Market and it looks forward to facilitating the industry with its future editions in India & abroad.

Rishikesh Shetty

(Founder & Managing Director - Exito Media concepts Pvt ltd.) Exotic Wedding Planning Conference was conceived to bring together the wedding planning industry, which prior to it was dispersed in nature sustained by paltry exposure to the celebrated names and creative practices of the industry. We outlined the entire conference to extend an exclusive networking and re-education platform for the wedding planners and suppliers from the industry to facilitate the needs of the market, holding on to their own interests and keeping up with the latest trends and approaches across the globe. We came across a lot of aspiring and budding wedding planners who seek inspiration from the renowned names in the industry and owing to EWPC, they all could establish a personal connect with the celebrated figures and also connect with an array of vendors across the globe. With the growing inclination for destination weddings, the conference has been fruitful for many wedding planners in establishing business relationships beyond the borders and paving new avenues for creative undertakings. For a successful destination wedding, it is imperative that one has an access to the local suppliers and collaborators and with EWPC this requisite has been bridged as it involves the participation of wedding planning professionals and suppliers from all across the globe. Going ahead, we seek to associate more wedding planning professionals with EWPC family to encourage an inspiring growth and relationship among the individuals of the wedding planning fraternity globally. So, look out for our upcoming editions. @weddingplanningconferenceHome

Berlin, Germany In Berlin, shopping is a jumble of wildly diverse elements: the traditional, with classic department stores like KaDeWe; the local, with lively markets offering up the best regional produce; and a love of craft and art fanzines galore at shops like Motto. More conventional shopping can be found on Kurfürstendamm in the west, with an Apple store and flagship Uniqlo. In the east, Friedrichstrasse offers a similarly upmarket selection, but with slightly younger fashions at places like the Quartier206 store. For cutting-edge designers, head to the area around Mulackstrasse in Mitte, where many have opened interesting boutiques or try Das Neue Schwarz, for haute-couture at knock-down prices. KaDeWe is the jewel in the crown of the ailing Karstadt retail group, The Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe). The largest department store in continental Europe, it stocks quite an impressive range of high-end designers and has recently tried to shed its stuffy image by bringing in upbeat, younger labels such as Alice+Olivia and London shoe brand Buffalo. The largest department store in continental Europe, it stocks quite an impressive range of high-end designers and referred as an ‘all under the one roof’ merchandise haven. From your everyday brands all the way up to high-fashion labels and even small boutique designers, this place is ideal for buying everything.

Seoul, South Korea Seoul is the fashion haven for all the modern fashionistas out there. Dongdaemun Market is South Korea’s largest wholesale and retail shopping district, comprising of 26 modern shopping malls, 30, 000 speciality stores, and over 50,000 manufacturing outlets.Myeongdong Market, One of Seoul’s prime shopping districts, is the place to go to shop for inexpensive clothes, shoes, accessories, jewellery, cosmetics, skincare brands and handbags from local and international brands. D-Cube City Mall is part of a massive multi-complex in Sindorim, has familiar brands available like H&M, Zara, Charles & Keith, Muji, New Balance, and Fossil. Lotte Department Store is an iconic shopping venue in Seoul that features an impressive collection of almost everything. Aside from reasonably-priced Korean labels and luxury brands, Lotte Department Store also houses a duty-free outlet, art gallery and more. Apgujeong Shopping District, also known as Apgujeongp-ro (boulevard), caters for the rich and famous in Seoul, where you can find plenty of designer outlets and chic departmental stores. TRENDS

What’s Trending in 2017 Farvi Motiwale Wadhwa

If you’ve just fixed the date for your wedding, or received an invitation from your best friend, we’re sure you want to make sure you look your best. This article will help you look your best with all the latest trends making the daunting task easier. Some of the trends from last year that didn’t get their fair share of attention are making a tremendous comeback this year. Bright colours can be teamed with pastels, for instance, a hot pink lehenga and blouse can be off-set by a cream or light gold lace dupatta. “Monotones are also getting some love with emphasis on different tones of the same colour that can be paired together to create a distinct minimalistic look. The trend when carried out with metallics is a great option for modern brides-to-be,” states Tina Narang, Design Director, Intrika, a premium lace apparel brand.

Lehenga Trends for 2017 by Tina Narang.

Trail Lehenga

Lehenga with Jacket

Florals are linked to the spring-summer wedding and is a huge part of western fashion also. So there is some experimentation with floral and ethnic combination. Floral prints are vibrant, youthful and subtle which can be carried effortlessly.

It has a choli which is designed into a cape. The cape can be designed in off shoulder, short-long style or in a circular frill. Compared to other looks this is a bolder yet elegant style which can help you flaunt your neckline, without worrying about a dupatta.

This type was first seen on gowns, specially made for red carpet, but our new generation brides want more drama in their lehengas. With the increased demand now they not only work on gowns and lehengas but also shararas. There are detailed flares which are extended at the back, giving the lehenga a magnified look. And that is a trend which is not going away anytime soon.

Beside choli, one can also pair their lehenga with different length jackets. One can play the lehenga simple and give the jacket a twisted look with embellishments in a different way. We recommend playing with contrasting colors for a better impression.

Bridal Blouse Trends 2017 The latest trend in blouses is the Rajasthani kurti style blouse. Once you give it a modern twist and add some stylish cuts to it, it’s a stunning piece of work. Nowadays, blouses which are long in length with beautiful embroidery and modern cuts are more in demand. Renowned Fashion Designer Naina Jain says, “One of the common mistakes that brides make is that they end up choosing a heavily embroidered blouse with lots of work on it. What a bride needs to understand is that the lengha and the dupatta are already heavily sequined and have extraordinary work on it, thus a simpler blouse which is light weight actually works like magic. It complements the lengha and the dupatta by balancing it out the rich colours and cuts.”

Jewellery Trends for 2017 2017 is all about making a statement. If it’s bold it is beautiful. We are seeing a revival of very traditional and vintage patterns going back to antique and yellow gold bridal sets in classic part. “Today’s bride prefers to borrow elegance and drama from our rich heritage. Of late, bridal jewelry has a strong contemporary touch with a hint of ethnic design,” states Sunil Nayak, CEO- Reliance Jewels.

Statement cocktail rings in Gold with Kundan, diamonds and coloured stones are in great demand. Multi-finger rings with tassels or dual-finger cuffs are also popular too. “Tribal designs are a huge hit. Use of elements and motifs with bright colours can make these baubles are great match to all kinds of outfits. The motifs ranges from the classic “Keri” mango-shaped patterns to designs in a continual form,” informs Vaibhav Saraf, Director, Aisshpra Gems & Jewels According to Ankit Khullar, “Big, Bolder and omnipresent is the trend this season. Statement necklaces, bold earrings and head gears are return in full force. It’s the time to show your best profile.” Past few seasons chokers were a big trend but long necklaces have made a bold comeback. “Statement earrings drawing arty inspiration with futuristic lines and graphic shapes are in trend now. At Purab Paschim our forte is head gears. Bold details and striking designs are the mainstay of Purab Paschim pieces especially when it comes to head gears and necklaces,” he further explains.

66 l WEDDING VOWS September - October 2017

Long multi-layered necklaces are also popular this year. “These necklaces comes in an eclectic options ranging from basic ‘Matarmala’ to Bridal Necklaces studded with diamonds, precious stones and Polki artwork and are a must have this wedding season. To complement these magnificent necklaces, brides prefer ‘Chaandbalis’ over other traditional earrings,” he adds. A complete bridal ensemble for this wedding season ideally comprises of a grand multi-layered necklace teamded with ‘Chaandbali’, ‘Paasa’, a traditional statement Teeka worn on one side along with a cocktail ring.

One can easily pull off bold pieces by keeping it limited to a single head gear to rock their outfit. Knowing where to stop is quintessential to wearing head gears. The use of crystal coated pearls layered with chains add a power punch of style to the head gears. Most of them would go with every ensemble one can think of whether it’s a traditional saree or a swish cocktail dress. One of our favorite piece is a maang tikka - It is a conceptual piece. There are two Swarovski laden pieces attached to each other with a cluster of strings and as one adorns the forehead, the other piece beautifully falls at the back of the head. It’s a sure shot statement, says Ankit Khullar of Purab Paschim.

Make-up Trends for 2017 As we all know glitter has been a major trend this year internationally, most of the major brands have come up with various glitter products for eyes and lips. A little glitter on the eyes for a bride never hurts as long as it’s not all over the place. “If you are someone who does not like the bling, then stick to a soft brown or bronze smokey eye and a bright lipstick to go with it,” suggests Rishabh Khanna, a celebrity make-up artist. Always stick to the classics as they never go out of trend. “You will love your wedding pictures even when you look at them after 20 years. Strong contouring and highlighting is a complete no-no. A soft bronzer, blush and highlight never goes out of fashion,” adds on Rishabh. So need not worry follow these tips and look trendy and a fashionista at the upcoming wedding.

What is the significance of Jewelry in Indian weddings? Jewelry has been a significant adornment for Indian women since ages. Its prominence in a woman’s life can be judged from the numerous jewelry she receives as gifts, for a variety of auspicious occasions, which begins as soon as she is born, where the grandparents, aunts , uncles and every visiting relative blesses the child with the most precious jewellery.

It is an integral part of every Indian woman’s life. So, Marriage being one of the biggest and most important moment in a women’s life, will be incomplete without the presence of jewellery. Wearing a piece of jewellery is not only a customary tradition, but it also signifies the various emotions and believes that we attach to it.

Classic or Contemporary?

Fusion! The mix of classic and contemporary is in trend. The traditional jewellery styles are reworked, with aspects of modernity, giving it both classic and contemporary appeal. These types of fusion jewellery are mostly sought after by our current generation. At the end of the day, it’s up to the couples, their outfits and to keep it in accordance with their theme.

People often forget that ‘All that glitters is not gold’! And they are misleaded into paying huge prices for counterfeit jewellry. What is the best way to know the purity of? The purity of gold can be identified with a mark on the jewellery itself, given by a government authorized center. The mark will be 916 BIS with the jeweller’s seal, which indicates that the products has been through the purity test and marked as genuine. It is the same in the case of Diamonds and Platinum, you get a certificate given by the government authorized center with all the details about its purity, standard and weight. Therefore, it is fundamental to check these details before you make the buy.

Do you think the fever of buying gold and diamonds have come down in the modern Indian bride?

No not much because, Gold or any precious metal for that matter will always play a major role in any Indian occasion. Nowadays, people are more design oriented than the price. Those who want to buy a particular design will not worry of the price quoted. And they will keep on buying jewellery for every event of their wedding. Jewellery is one thing which makes the bride complete. So, buying of jewellery will always be on the rise.

What are the must haves to achieve the ultimate Indian bridal look? There is no end to it. You can update your bridal look however you want. There are many options: Traditional, designer, antique, diamonds, pure temple look and the list goes on. You can customize everything to your need, to match your bridal wear and the wedding theme. In general, Mang tika, Nath (nose pin), Earnings, Choker, Necklace, Haram, Hip Belt (Ottiyanam), Bangles Ring, Anklet and Vanki will give you the complete look.

The million dollar question! How much should be the jewellry shopping budget?

It depends on the customer on how they want their wedding to be, a small, intimate and a simple ceremony or a grandeur event. We have everything that will satisfy the customers’ needs, from simple and elegant jewellry to grand and royal ones. With so many options today, there is something for everyone and their unique taste. For brides, who don’t want their wedding jewellery to be a one-time wear, they can opt for interchangeable jewellery, which will help you to maximize your jewelry usage and also go easy on your pockets.

Do you think the recently passed GST bill has affected the jewellry market?

It has not affected the jewellery market per se. But the customers’ mindset has changed, because before the tax was 1% and it was not a big deal. But currently, it is 3% and it is something that is projected like a huge amount to spend. Even though customers are not denying, it has affected a little bit of the market on whole.

70 l WEDDING VOWS September - October 2017

When do you think the bridal party should start the wedding jewellery shopping?

At least three months before their wedding. Because, shopping for something so vital will take time and cannot be done in a whiff. Jewellry shopping takes attention to detail. It is something that cannot be hurried. So, it is important that you give enough thought. The amount of money to be spent should be decided beforehand and financially you should be prepared, to avoid any chaos or confusions that may arise during shopping.

Most of the Indian parents start investing in Gold as soon as their baby girl is born. Do you think it is a resourceful investment?

Investing in gold is resourceful not only for the future of your new born baby, but also in general. Gold is a great asset to invest, because of the ever increasing demand and skyrocketing prices. The investors are sure to reap its benefits in the future.

What is the current trend going on, in the wedding jewellry scenario?

Reworked traditional jewelry and customization are the ongoing trends. Old hand crafted antique pieces; rubies and emerald and statement pieces are now in trend.

rom wearing her fiancée’s grandmother’s sari for a traditional South Indian ceremony on October 6 to advising young women to stay comfortable in their own skin and not be bogged down by the fashion police, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is everything a feisty young bride-tobe should be Award-winning actress and brideto-be Samantha Ruth Prabhu admits that she has no time to shop or plan her bridal trousseau. Between multiple film projects and endorsements, she’s handed over the mammoth task of designing three outfits, including one completely traditional and one stunningly modern, for her upcoming Goa wedding, to her best friend, designer and millionaire heiress, Kresha Bajaj Kresha is putting together signature gold, diamond, royal gems and kundan jewellery pieces from her husband, Vanraj Zaveri’s Tribhuvandas Bhimji Zaveri collection, as well as designing Samantha’s outfits under her Mumbai-based label, Koecsh. One-of-a-kind shoes and jewellery by popular designers as well as from niche ethnic stores are presently being scouted for. “I really do not have the time. I have given Kresha complete freedom and I’m not planning to go bridezilla on her!” Samantha laughs, adding, “But I do know this. For the long-established South Indian ceremony I will be wearing my fiancée’s grandmother’s sari... a priceless sari worn by D Rajeshwari, the wife of D Ramainadu. Since she is the eldest on both the sides of our families, I wanted the outfit to be an ode to her. For the Christian ceremony, I’ve left

the task to Kresha, since she had given me a fairytale engagement lehenga capturing my entire love story, and I completely trust her. She’ll definitely make me look my best,” Samantha beams. The traditional sari will be coupled with gold ornaments including a custom made kamarpatta and arm-bracelets. “The idea is to not overdo, but stay elegant and timeless. I’m working on a twist to the original sari but keeping it thoroughly traditional,” Kresha points out, adding that the reason young brides get it wrong is because they follow trends that may not be suitable for their body time, skin tone and overall silhouette. Kresha is also designing something fun a la fushion for the bridesmaid, and insists that she usually steps into a pant-sari mixing traditional with cool and chic herself. “Five years later, when a bride looks at her wedding pictures, the first thought in her mind cannot be, “What was I thinking?” So, for Samantha, I’ve planned neutral, natural shades, with a focus on the detailing and quality of embroidery. Samantha has a petite frame and her outfits will be devoid of any embellishments or huge prints or overwhelming designs,” says Kresha. The designer recently unveiled her 2017 bridal collection featuring a beautiful blue organza lehenga, embroidered in silk resham and embellished with glass beading and crystals, with delicate cutwork created using a fire rod and sheer detailing to create optical illusions under different lights. “This lehenga with a stunning rose cut and rice pearl maang tikka and rose cut and diamond earrings completes the bridal look. I’m planning to keep it just like this for Samantha

too,” Kresha explains, adding that the Koecsh bridal collection also features lavender, crystal white, mint green, ice white, gold and ivory lehengas with caped, strapless as well as embroidered bustierstyles. “I try to visualise paradise and incorporate elements from nature into the wedding garments. By blending pastels, floral motifs, a complex network of vines through rich threads and embroidery work, I try to create something surreal from the cloth. The final artwork becomes my canvas for depicting a beautiful edgy scenary,” she says. Meanwhile, Samantha reminisces how perfect their engagement in Hyderabad, earlier this year, had been. Kresha, who believes in giving a voice to the outfits she designs, had weaved magic on Samantha’s off-white saree that came with intricate, gold embroidery giving the actress a stellar final-look. “It was a fairytale engagement with Chay and my entire journey – from our first film until our engagement embroidered on my outfit. The upcoming Hindu and Christian wedding will only reinforce everyone’s beliefs in romanticising the idea of love,” Samantha says, adding that the couple finally chose Goa for their destination wedding because it’s been a place close to both their hearts. “It’s always been a nice, quick getaway for us and we picked it because it’s special,” she says. The 30-year-old-star reportedly struck an instant friendship with Naga Chaitanya, around seven years ago, when she made a splashing debut with the 2010 drama, Ye Maaya Chesave. The duo went on to feature in three 2014-releases opposite each other – Autonagar Surya, Manam and Thrayam. After tying the knot in a Hindu ritual on October 6 the couple will walk down the isle in a Christian whitegown ceremony on October 8, Samantha hopes to jump back on set within three days. “We will fly out of the country in December for Christmas and New Year’s Eve,” she says, addressing rumours surrounding the couple’s honeymoon.

Samantha’s advice for brides-to-be I always wanted to fall in love and marry the man of my dreams, and now, I am living the dream. I am marrying a man who is bigger than the family he comes from, who is greater than the tag of being an actor. But it all fell into place only after I started loving myself. I realised that my work became better if I was content with who I was. With the support of my family, I was able to make better decisions. When you’re with the man of your dreams, the two of you become a tough unit. Since, everything is good at home, everything outside of it shines. To young brides, I’d like to say don’t let the fashion police bring you down, be comfortable in your skin. Don’t succumb to pressure and try to be someone you are not. Over the years, I’ve got thickskinned. But girls are too hard on themselves. That’s not correct because you’ll only end up bringing negativity into your life. Be strong and stay confident, and always smile widest.

Striking a work-life

balance as a married actress

I am not one to dwell on my achievements and am constantly asking myself – What can I do better, how can I be better? As an artiste I did not want to hinder with the shooting schedules of any of my ongoing films and decided to maintain the momentum of my work. I want to get through this wedding and back at work as seamlessly as possible. It’s sad that the rules for male and female actors are different. But today, my ambition has only tripled. I love being told what I cannot do because I love proving everybody who discouraged me wrong. Who I am today is not even close to what I see myself doing with my life as an actress, or in any other business or hobby I take up. I do not plan on hanging up my boots after I get married, and neither is marriage going to slow me down one bit.

Samantha’s personal picks Indian wear or western?

I am most comfortable in Indian clothes. Handlooms and Indian weaves work best.

Outfits that you’ve looked your best in?

My earlier appearances styled by Neerja Kona were special. She styled me in Attarintiki Daredi and those costumes have remained my favourite.

Gold or diamonds?

Diamonds are forever!

A designer you trust…

Sabyasachi Mukherji will never do you wrong. Also love Anamika Khanna.

Kresha Bajaj’s shopping tips for newbies 1.Be loud if you want to be but stay elegant. There cannot be so much happening with your outfit that your face cannot be seen. 2.Quality stones are key, whether on your outfit or with your jewellery. One edgy style statement piece of jewellery is better that too much embellishment on everything. 3.Do not follow the trend, follow your personal undertones instead – pick hues and neutral shades. Not everything that looks great on a model, will look great on someone who is too petite or broad. 4.Detailing matters. Every layer of your lehenga and embroidery on both the sides of your dupatta can make a lot of difference. Having a perfectly tailored signature blouse is key. When you have to go completely traditional with a sari, add an edgy blouse to go with it. 5.A perfect go-to option for a black-tie reception is a nude tulle backless honeycomb gown, completely covered in glass beading and floral detailing. Diamond earrings and a pearl maang tikka will complete the look perfectly.

stunning decors that are ruling the Wedding industry Farvi Motiwale Wadhwa

Personal events are made up of those cherished moments that leave an indelible mark on our hearts and are memorable. With a hawks eyes to detail, design and plan an event, it can be exciting and fun, wedding planning proves to be stressful and demanding if not undertaken by a team of professionals. With today’s hectic lifestyle, time constraints and nuclear families, it is important to have a team of professionals whose expertise and know how will transform the occasion into a fairy tale affair. These experts play fairy god mother and bring joy to millions of hearts. “We strive to exceed expectations while working within a budget. An event whether big or small needs the supervision and management of trained and experienced professionals. There are many aspects to organizing an event as it needs close attention to detail, perfect coordination and contacts with service providers and cost effectiveness,” says Amit Gutgutia of Floral Hut Weddings. Selecting the décor for the functions is one of the most important aspects when it comes to planning a wedding. Read on as we share with you expert opinions on what décor to choose for your upcoming wedding.

Décor 1: Floral Décor

Some ideas or themes remain evergreen. One of them is floral prints – a trend that started a couple of years ago; but has remained a constant favorite with many. Floral décor, the glamour added to every Indian wedding in making it a Grand Gala event. “As the décor trend is changing from heavier structure to elegant floral and rustic look, we are also converting our ideas and design as per the season. Every year we try to create 4-5 new themes for the upcoming season where we serve our clients with new props and decorative as pockets of décor. Our forte of décor in the wedding industry is modern contemporary where we fill the elements with variety of flowers and selective pop – up props,” adds Amit.

Décor 2: Printed Periphery Walls

Any indoor or outdoor give space has always had its boundary set with periphery draping. But this year we have done away with fabric and introduced prints. “Either the entire length or huge sized wall panels will form the periphery to your décor. The idea behind this is to make a strong and bold visual prominent and at the same time add to the existing décor. As in the image shown, the look was entirely Indian – but yet a contemporary touch was added by placing the huge motif print as wall panels around it. It was one bold visual that spoke volumes about the décor,” explains Shaymalee Thevar, an eminent name in the Wedding Planning industry. Everything done inside this structure was balanced and done up in a subtler manner.

Décor 3: Bars that Speak

Shaymalee Thevar also comes up with this unique idea of making the bar look trendier. Bars are one of the most important design elements of any wedding. “Clients are extremely particular about the space and design of it. This year the idea is to add an extra factor to the design – through words,” she adds. Words as they say can speak volumes. “And we personalize it to the couple or the family in concern. Sometimes it is the couple logo, sometimes it could be words or sentences that has a quirky and fun memory associated to them. Bars are no longer just about the console design. It also is about what are doing with it overall as an element,” she sums up precisely.

Décor 4: The table décor

One of my personal favourite décor would be to decorate the guest tables with exquisite pin-up flower bouquets in the roses, carnations or tulips. “This adds elegance to the dinner or lunch tables at the wedding venue. We usually follow the latest trend of round tables as a part of the sitting arrangement for the guests attending the wedding. For the winter wedding, we opt for vibrant earthy tones and for the summers we choose vibrant shades of blue and pinks as part of wedding decoration,” suggests Pratish Ambekar, Managing Director - iLeaf Ritz Banquets, Thane.

Décor 5: Sheesh Mahal Décor:

Trends come and go but some trends come go and come back yet again. The 1950s and 1970s hot trends are back in wedding decor collections. Mid-century mod with brass, gold and metallic finishes are in vogue, currently. Get ready to embrace some retro bling. One of them who is making a grandeur come-back is the Sheesh Mahal look. “Insipred from the very famous song ‘Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’ from Mughal-E-Azam, the Sheesh Mahal look is all about mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors” says Mushtaq Ali, CEO, Celebrations, a wedding management company. Speaking more about the look he says, “This exhilarating Sheesh Mahal look is all about mirror mosaic, popularly known as inlay. It dates backs to 1631 when the Sheesh Mahal constructed by Shah Jehan. It has been awe inspiring ever since it was made and it is one of the most trending decors this year. This theme presents in front of us a thousand Madhubalas dancing in chorus in the Sheesh Mahal,” wraps up Mushtaq.

Décor 6: The Great Gatsby Decor

Yet another theme which is being opted by many and is making a great come back is ‘The Great Gatsby Theme.’ “Popularly Known as The Art Décor Theme, this 1920’s theme is another favorite trend, which has always been fancied by the to be wed couple for their sangeet night,” says Mushtaq. In India it all started with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday celebration and has not taken a back seat since then. “From the time of opulence and roaring jazz, the rich hues of gold, purple navy and jade to emanate old fashioned glamour, while bold patterns capture the ‘big personality ‘of the era,” he informs. Accent pieces of art décor are an easy way to design your environment. “Reflective materials to silk to brass to velvet will further spruce up your event and can be featured in a variety of different ways, from your curtains to the walls, to your photo corner , the main Stage and centre pieces and all other knick knacks. For any wedding ceremony, decoration becomes the vital element. Decoration is one of the key ingredients for an occasion to embellish, to elevate the mood and make the day more memorable. Decorating the wedding venue is very important, especially in India; the weddings are incomplete without wedding decoration which requires good planning, coordination and innovative ideas. So to make the wedding decor grandeur select from what the experts say and choose from the best mentioned above. Your wedding surely will be the talk of the town.

MEN’S TREND

Wedding shopping trends for the Groom Kiran Srinivasan

Wedding suit is the main element of festive groom’s image. The seasonal trends of men are seldom hyped unlike women’s. Men’s Fashion every year sets new rules for selection of wedding attire, so don’t assume that any decent suit will fit for such an important day. Because, along with the bride, the groom should also stand out and look like a million bucks! Here is a list of Wedding Shopping Trends for Men’s Wear 2017!

Embrace floral and the patterns Forget monotones and Go crazy with colours Gone are the days when the groom appeared in Monotone colors like Beige, Brown or Gold. Not just the bride, but the groom can carry off bright colours too. You can add that oomph factor to your Sherawni or Suits by adorning with bold colours like Blue, Yellow, Shades of red and pink, Orage and much more. If you are quite person and not the one for loud colours, you can go for pastel shades like peach, light green, pink, mauve, etc. With these gorgeous colours you can definitely outshine the bridal party. You can also mix and match the colours, if going all bold isn’t really your cup of tea, you can still add colour to your ensemble by picking a bold coloured jacket or dupatta and pairing it with a pastel kurta.

92 l WEDDING VOWS September - October 2017

Front Open Vest A simple, but a fun look that you can rock on your Mehandi! Who knew a plain white kurta pyjama could look so much more awesome with just a jacket? Well it does. The cool new look will add a sense of contemporary to the traditional look, giving you a trendy and hippy look. The front open vests are perfect for small evening or morning functions. Bright embroidered, colourful and bright vests over a white kurta will give you a classy, yet stylish look.

If the bride can wear prints, so can you! Prints of all hues, patterns (yes even florals, geometric & abstract), shapes and sizes are doing the rounds these days. Going for fabric that is heavy on prints on the upper body will be well balanced by opting for a plain coloured pair of pants/dhoti pants or pyjama. This way, the focus remains on the kurta itself. If your prints are loud, one of the best ways to soften the overall appearance is by pairing it with a plain coloured dupatta. The latest trends in patterns are the floral . A nice long kurta or a jacket can make you look desi and intrend! Remember that it’s important to consider your height and body shape before choosing your kurta prints. Horizontal prints can make you look shorter. So if you are concerned with your height, then you can go for vertical stripes or patterns. This will make you appear taller.

Sea of Fabrics Velvet and Silk are in trend now. Silk has been the choice of material of most Indian royalties. The fall of the garment is simply superb and it shows off a slim body beautifully. Velvet waistcoats are also trending in a big way and with the right embellishments or embroidery, it can look truly regal. If designers are to be believed, they are also experimenting around with other fabrics such as wool which is usually never seen on the wedding circuit and have even managed to spin fabric thread from steel as well. And yes, if you plan on going with an asymmetrical kurta cut, silk just could be your best bet!

Match your shoes with your kurta

Indo Westerns- the Desi Videsi look

Another menswear trend this wedding season is matching your shoes with your wedding kurta. Nowadays, customization is the key, to make your whole wedding attire, an extension of yourself. All of us are too bored with the conventional old monotone looks. You can now upgrade your whole outfit by matching your wedding juthi with your sherwani. You can customize your wedding footwear in specialty stores, the reliable ones.

Indo Western look is for those who want to add a twist to their traditional attire. Bandgalas are the best way to rock the Indo Western look. The Indo Western Kurta can be paired with a nice pair of pants. Asymmetric or abstract patterns will enhance your look and for sure will turn the heads of your bridal party. You can don the look on pre-nuptial ceremonies, wedding reception or any evening parties, making you look traditional with aspects of modernity.

Acessorize your best You can choose to flaunt a long gold chain or a beaded neck-wear that will accord a finishing touch to your wedding-day kurta or sherwani and give an elegant minutia to it. If you plan to go ethnic on the D-day, get a brooch that matches the style of your outfit. Studded and Swarovski studded brooches are the most trending accessories for men of the season and they are germane for giving that perfect wedding inspiration. Silver clips, textured heather ties and rose boutonnieres are extremely high-on-class for perfecting the formal wedding look. Bolo ties for men are other must-haves for the nuptials. Well, cuff-links are the major style statement of the period. They give that high-on-class look and feel to the entire attire and make you stand-out from others. The color of your wedding day turban must complement the color of your outfit. It should either be similar or in contrast to the color of the attire. Also, you can add some exclusive embellishments to your turban to give it a chic look. Swarovski studded broochs and feathers can give an exclusive yet elegant touch to the wedding day headwear for men. A fashionably folded cloth piece in the upper pocket of your suit, preferably in silk, can give you a perfect look for the D-day. Patterned or printed cloth squares and folds, in contrast with the color of the attire are yet other fabric designs that are trending big time in these days.

WEDDING DRESS

Making the most of your Wedding dress Farvi Motiwale Wadhwa

Choosing the right outfit for your wedding is one of the most stressful and tedious task. Your bridal dress has to be more than the perfect so as to make you look the best on your most memorable moment. But the question arises what to do with that perfect dress, which is too heavy to be worn anywhere else. “Having dressed over 2000 brides in the past two and a half decades the most important aspect of choosing the wedding ensemble has to be uniqueness... comfort and most definitely reusability,” says Fashion Designer Amy Bilimoria The best way to do so is divide the outfits in separates. “So have a blouse that’s a fusion mix teamed with a lighter lehenga and pre-pleat a heavy sari over the lighter lehenga as the Dupatta. In doing so, one can wear each piece separately later,” advices Amy. For example the fusion blouse can be teamed with pallazos; the lighter inner lehenga can be used for smaller wedding functions or Sangeets and once the pleating of the Dupatta is opened you can wear it as a sari. This allows the bride to fully use her attire and the heavy ensemble does not simply sit in the cupboard.

104 l WEDDING VOWS September - October 2017

“Recycling embroideries is something I have been pursuing for decades. An unusual experience was when a bride had gotten her ancestral great grandmoms hand embroidered sari motifs transferred onto her wedding lehenga and post her wedding we used in again on a fusion drape sari,” updates Amy. Post wedding lehenga is in all an attire in which there are three fully designed pieces, one has to just pour the creativity out and use it in multiple ways. “The latest trends this bridal season are a lot of shimmer and shine. Beiges, silvers, ruffles and tassels form a major part of the embellishment. Motifs are modern floral versions of the vintage art forms. Tulles and taffetas as also hand woven fabrics rule the fashion bridal runways this season,” suggests Amy. Another concept that is in vogue is ‘renting an attire.’ The concept of renting Indian fashion exists even in smaller towns in India where often families rent clothes and jewelry for a wedding. “This has been an unspoken word as shops renting are often selling the merchandise too. They don’t wish to lose a full price paying client who knows the outfit could have been worn before,” says Shilpa Bhatia, Founder, The Clothing Rental. In today’s digital world, players of the renting industry are attempting to organize an unorganized sector. Wedding fashion is quite expensive for good quality and often times people don’t like to repeat the outfit, “then rental makes perfect sense. Borrow an outfit for a fraction of retail,” suggests Shilpa. “The concept of renting came to my mind honestly fairly early in life where my friends would borrow my fancy outfit but return in a bad state. Often I felt that I should have charged her for borrowing it. That possibly stuck in my mind and later in life when I started styling for films, television and print media I noticed that we need cool clothes but only for a short duration. Then why should we be paying full price when the use is temporary,” Shilpa adds.

Celebrated Delhi based fashion designer Mithi Kalra shares these very simple and functional tips Drape your lehenga differently, example you can wear the dupatta in the form of a saree along with choli and skirt, so that it looks like a lehenga-cum-saree. With the heavy choli you can wear plain skirt of a different colour. For example wear red choli of your lehenga with a black skirt, so that the look becomes entirely different and no one can recognize that this piece belongs to your wedding lehenga. If the skirt is flowy then you can divide it into two halves like a shaaraha and team it with a nice short choli. If your lehenga is light-coloured then get it dyed in some other colour. For example if the colour is baby-pink then you can get it dyed in black colour. You can get blouse and skirt joined and add some additional cloth from the dupatta in the stomach area that can be used to join and it will get converted into an anarkali. Read on these hints and make the right choice and the most of your wedding dress.

Whether you are heading out for a long weekend or are away for a couple of weeks, there is no need to say bon voyage to looking your best. Travel can be stressful, especially when you have to carry multiple products with you that can spill and create a mess of your stuff. However when it comes to makeup, these essential tips that will ensure that you travel light and still feel like you have all your makeup and hair needs handy when you are on the go. Plan around your outfit. A simple tip is to plan makeup choices around your outfits, in order to carry fewer shades and products. This will help minimize your baggage and unclutter your life. Use multi-purpose products; you obviously cannot carry your entire make-up stack with you while you travel so the ideal way to go is by packing stuff that can be used in multiple ways. “Like a simple shimmer blush can be used as an eye shadow or a highlighter, a creamy lipstick can be a substitute of your eye shadow and blush and so on. The idea is to travel smart,” says an expert from VLCC. Facial skin is considered more sensitive compared to body skin and thus requires extra attention. During travel, even the extra care is not enough as the skin is exposed to dust, dryness and heat. Thus we need reliable and handy products to carry along with us every time we step out of the house. “Sandalwood has great skin lightening and refreshing properties. It also has a cooling effect on the skin. Carrying a small bottle of sandalwood oil during any travel is simple and handy to treat common skin problems like acne and rashes, whilst sandal paste can be applied on the skin for cleansing and hydrating the skin, suggests Dr. Austin, Head- Research and Development at Cholayil Private Limited. VLCC, a well known player of the industry suggests, “tinted moisturizers or CC creams.” Instead of carrying bottles of moisturizer and foundation separately, you can simply do with your CC creams that also work with treating certain skin concerns at the same time. Another essential travel kit major is a lip balm. “A lip balm is undoubtedly one versatile product that can generally double as all-over, wherever-you-need- it balms,” advices the expert. Not only does it help to nourish and seal dry chapped lips, but can also be used along with eye shadows to create newer and exciting lip color shades. You can also use a lip balm on your cheeks to make them look glossy and hydrated.

Replace your face wash bottles: You can swap your face wash bottles with facial cleansing wipes that serve the same purpose. They help remove the makeup, dirt and grime from skin which means you have less chances of potential spillage.

A celebrated Hairstylist and Make-up Artist Pooja Sharma says Your travel make-up kit must contain A perfect base suiting your skin type can be BB cream/foundation concealer (you know best what suits your skin) A basic eye shadow kit, (earthy or neutral tone) as they can be worn on all occasions and with all garments. Eyeliner, mascara, lip color, blush-on, but remember to keep it natural

Sun care: Sun care is an absolute necessity when travelling. Its important to protect your skin from the sun while you are busy exploring a new place. There are a range of SunCare products that are paraben free and are enriched with natural ingredients that protect skin against harmful sun rays. VLCC’s Sun Care range includes Hydrophobic Sun Screen Lotion SPF 50, Daily Protect Sun Screen Cream SPF 25, Anti-Tan Sun Screen Lotion SPF 25, Matte Look Sunscreen Cream SPF 30, Skin Nourishing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 40, that can be chosen basis your exposure to the sun.

While travelling select brushes carefully, only carry an eye shadow application brush and powder brush to blend. Make remover and pre base is also important with cotton pads.

Dry Shampoos: Shampooing during travel is very essential as travelling leave hair dirty and without shine. Dry shampoos absorb the oil that makes your hair look greasy without drying out the scalp giving an illusion of recently taken head wash. Re-usable travel friendly bottles: Who wants to carry around full sized products in their kits when you can squeeze out some of your favorite daily essentials like moisturizers, Sunscreens, body washes and others in travel friendly miniature bottles. It saves you even more space.

HE ART Of ECH-LOVE

A quick guide to the evolution of relationships in the age of the smart phone

While some couples enjoy jogging together, lunging and squatting their way to a fitter future using Google Fit, BodySpace or VirtualYoga, among countless others flooding the Play Store, few couples may chose to use an application to organise their impending wedding – Our Wedding Planner, WedMeGood – and even, to plan an upcoming baby shower – Pinterest, All Events. While these could be one-off apps installed to hit a particular goal, there are several others for exhaustive, long-term uses that lovebirds can utilize to make life easier and give themselves a reason to do something special for each other. App-addict Sanyukta Iyer presents a first person account on the 10 most user-friendly smart phone applications that bring two people closer and how you can milk them to maximum for sustaining a healthy relationship.

Digital kisses over WhatsApp

Earlier this year, I’d taken off to London for a 17-day holiday and remember how a boy I had recently met, and was hoping to grow closer to in the near future, kept asking me for pictures of the touristy things I was doing. From memes to quotes to old Hindi songs, we shared everything on WhatsApp and by the end of the trip, it felt like he’d been with me all along. I remember standing outside a quaint Soho café in an overcoat, gloves and beanie, on a freezing London night while video chatting with him as he downed the spirits in a far warmer city of Mumbai. It continues to remain one of my favourite moments of that holiday. Seven months later, we’re a couple with “good morning” messages, feel-good quotes and panda gifs continuing to lighten up our days. From heart-eyed emojis to incessant updates on how your day is going. From long-distance free calling to video-fuelled pillow talk. From selfies to voice notes, seasonal greetings to rib-tickling forwards and WhatsApp groups to plan special occasions, this freeware developed by Facebook, has become an indispensible application for the sustenance of any relationship.

Zomato’s food for the soul It’s the smaller gestures that make everything in a relationship worthwhile. A birthday cake, burgers for Valentine’s Day, onion bhajiyas and bread pakodas on a rainy evening and a tub of ice cream post a felicitation at work is not only food for thought, but also a sweet little nothing for the soul. There’s also the comfort of ordering pizza to be consumed in pyjamas from the comforts of your home. And it’s a food delivery app that not only helps with the surprises but also with the reservations. Zomato helps reserve a table for two on Valentine’s Day or Friday night, when the city’s youngsters are out and about scrambling for tables.

Cheap fills for my Big Basket

Double ticks for BookMyShow

My closest friend and now, mother-to-be, Monica Banerjee, is a Big Basket pro. She works hard – six days a week, and loves ordering her groceries right to her doorstep. Her husband, another gem, uses Big Basket to make sure the kitchen is well-stocked so that Monica doesn’t have to leave home in her eighth month to buy milk or eggs. Not only is the delivery immediate but the variety for household products is also wide enough and worthy on the pocket.

Since I get done from work around 11pm only, my boyfriend and I usually catch the last show at a theatre. On weekends, we make plans to visit a stand-up comedian or a live gig, and no surprises where we book our tickets from. With constant discounts and practically, every theatre listed, BookMyShow has led to every millennial depending solely on it to catch a film. With a complete monopoly on the market, the application now also allows a discussion on the events you’re looking forward to.

More stories than Insta and Snapchat can tell I’m always updating my friends with what’s cooking over a couple of second-long posts, but my friend often uses it to send her hubby selfies in the nude to keep him enthralled. She admits that it not only spruces up their sex life but also keeps the excitement going. “Sometimes it’s just a peep show and sometimes I go all the way, begging him to get home asap,” she laughs. She adds that it’s not just the Snapchat stories, but also the sharing of fun posts via Instagram that keep their conversations interesting. “Sometimes I send him fun things other couples seem to be doing, which motivates him to make similar plans,” she adds. Now, isn’t that what #RelationshipGoals are all about?

I’ve always wondered what it was like in the ’60s. To pass by a book store and chance upon a man who wanted to unravel the same book as you did. The two of us would connect through the hole created on a book shelve, because we’d be standing on either side of it, latching onto the last copy of a romantic novella. Well, cut to 2017 and look at the bigger picture and there are lots of ways to enjoy the same stories as your partner does. Take for instance, spending an entire weekend spooning and binge-watching Narcos or Game of Thrones. With films and TV series now available at the click of a button it’s easy to catch the latest trailers and music videos together on YouTube of Hotstar. Couples can watch back-to-back movies on Netflix or Amazon Prime because international streaming sites have not only merged the bridge between a small and big screen seamlessly, but also made viewing a collectively enjoyable yet personal experience.

Bend it like iKamasutra Applications detailing sex and intimacy like ‘Real Sex For Real Women’, ‘Sex & Marriage’, ‘Sexulator’ and ‘Hot Game’ enable it’s user to explore over 100 different sex positions and there’s bound to be one that works great for you and your partner. There are progress charts to challenge your partner to get adventurous in the sack and there’s the “hit me” random and red button for a couple to try out whatever position shows up. Sounds fun?

Buy me an My friend recently purchased a Swarovski neck piece for his wife via Amazon and got it delivered a day before their first wedding anniversary. Not only was it a perfect gift, but he didn’t have to worry about sneaking around or asking a friend for what she’d like without her knowing. He just did it from his cubicle at work without her having a whiff of what’s coming. And the result – a tearyeyed, overwhelmed, thoroughly happy wife. Meanwhile, my brother in Europe sent his girlfriend in India a Fossil watch he purchased for her birthday, while I have been guilty of buying everything from a vintage phone cover to blockprinted t-shirts for my boyfriend off the site. With its quick delivery and multiple open reviews to assure and inform about quality standards, Amazon, seems to be have taken over the world one click at a time. And it’s definitely found its way into my heart.

Leaving on a jet plane, arriving via From taking a holiday together or hopping on a last-minute flight to reunite with your love who is probably a couple of states or countries away, MakeMyTrip is the go-to application for all things travel. With the app’s services to merge hotel bookings, make personalised travel plans and combine different modes of transport like road, rail and even buses, it’s easy to plan a holiday as a couple or even as two families taking off for a much-needed family vacation.

You’re the Uber to my PayTM I’d been hanging out with a bunch of friends at a terrace party-turned-all-nighter, when my boyfriend decided that he wanted to travel across the city for a rendezvous. Since it was month-end and moolah was scarce, I decided to book him an Uber for the 55-minute drive. He PayTM-ed the money to me a day later, and some more, for the future; likewise when I booked his brother flight tickets. In fact, it’s become sort of a routine where I store some extra cash in my PayTM for our getaways or so that we could bail each other out in the wee hours.

MAKE-UP

BRIDESMAID GOALS 2017/2018

This is probably ONE concept, which has been on my mind for as long as I can remember. We all know that there are a whole lot of articles; literature and videos on that perfect Bridal look for the Big Day. Through this article and references, I Makeup Artist, Priyanka Arora have tried the best to disclose to you the various trends for the bridesmaid for the upcoming wedding season. I hope that you find them trendy, informative, easy to follow and help you find that profound vigour, magnetism, beauty and enough glamour you are looking to make it just about perfect for the D-DAY. It goes without saying “A happy bridesmaid, makes a happy bride”

EYES Go toss your bold look with your eye makeup and explore as many colors as you can. BLUE is definitely one color, which is going to be sparkling out this season. Smokey, glittery and matte eyes are a few looks, which you must try for your functions. And why not add a little drama to your face by using eyelashes. As the drama people enjoy these days are your LASHES.

FACE Make sure that you are using a good foundation and it is well blended. If you are going for a party that is going to last for a whole day, use a very light weight foundation or mousse but make sure that the makeup doesn’t look cakey. Remember, to pull off the flawless look “Less is more” and your skin is going to look spot on if you are going to blend it well. BLENDING is the key, ladies. Glow for it, gorgeous! Contour and strobe your pretty features using a good highlighter and contour.

120 l WEDDING VOWS September - October 2017

OUTFIT First thing that a bridesmaid should look forward to while choosing the right outfit is to be comfortable. Lehenga sets, sharara suits and crop top sets are the popular choices for Indian wedding bridesmaid dresses. According to me, a bridesmaid should wear something modern yet elegant and classy. They can choose different types of silhouettes with classy cuts. The off-shoulder trend, which was still now a popular street-style, has made its way to the bridal world also. Cropped skirt with a crop top is one of my favorites for a Mehndi function. Digital prints in geometric, abstract and floral embroideries and patterns are the latest trends.

" R e m e m yb oe ru

these magical tips and are good to go! Remember there’s no better makeup than CONFIDENCE.

"

FOOTWEAR Running around for small errands in comfortable shoes for a bridesmaid can be such a relief. Wedge heels make things perfect in terms of exaggerating the height and giving comfort. If you are still a pencil girl, walk in those heels many times before you actually wear it on the final day.

JEWELLERY Invest in a Mathapatti or a Nath. Try-out different types of Nath’s considering their different sizes and patterns for your look. If you are going for heavy Mathapatti or Nath, go subtle with your neckpiece. Playing around with different chokers can also be considered. One stop shop for all the kind of jewelry is RAABTA Jewels by Rahul Luthra. They have really unique and trendy styles. Raabta Jewels is also one of the leading stores in Delhi. This is definitely my favorite store.

If you are that person who is different and unique with your gifting options and always looking out for some new gifting ideas, then 3d miniatures is the best solution!
