Press Release AWARD OF TERTIARY SCHOLARSHIPS – INTERNATIONAL AND LOCAL AWARDS The Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Library Services is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2014 Scholarship Awards to complete tertiary level studies. The Scholarship Committee met during the period June to July 2014 to review all new applications and requests from continuing students, that were received, on or before the application deadline of 30th April, 2013. The following awardees listed below (Table 2014 Scholarship Committee Decisions) were successful based on the identified priority areas, grade point averages and other policy related criteria. In total, the board considered one hundred and seventy (170) new applications for further study locally, regionally and internationally. The table below shows a distribution of full and partial scholarships that were awarded. Awards that were deferred from 2013 and extensions to continuing students are not a part of this list. This list also does not include awards to TCICC and BWIC for study to the Associates Degree level or Advanced Level study. At the time of release these applicants were still awaiting their external examination results. These will be considered after these are received and tabulated. The Ministry at this time wishes to congratulate all awardees and urges them to study hard so that they can return home to make their contribution to the development of these islands. This year the Minister began her thrust toward the development and certification of all teachers and senior leaders within schools and the sum of $200,000 was earmarked for scholarships in this area over the next two years. The Ministry will conduct its New Scholarship Awardee Program for all awardees at a date and time to be announced later in the month of August. All applicants will be notified in writing regarding the outcome of their application. 2014 Scholarship Committee Decisions # 2
