Fashion supermarket Lidl has recently unveiled its highly anticipated Esmara spring/ summer 2016 fashion collection, following the sell-out success of its debut collection last year. Inspired by the tropical artdeco architecture of Miami and contrasted with the bohemian blue hues of the Mediterranean, shoppers can expect an eclectic selection of key season staples and stunning swimwear, the majority of which will be available for a very purse-friendly â‚Ź9.99 or under. The first wave of products from the collection will go on sale on March 10, with the additional pieces scheduled to land in stores nationwide between April and July.

Skinnydip now in Arnotts, prices from €42
The skinny on Skinnydip Celebrity and blogger-beloved fashion brand, Skinnydip has landed its bright and bold accessories in Arnotts. Founded by Lewis Blitz and brothers James and Richard Gold in 2010, the trio set out to create a range of uniquely designed, trend-driven products to rival the boring black and grey accessories that were dominating the market. After working from home for six months, the Skinnydip design studio was set up with the determination to merge fashion trends with technology accessory essentials. The team appeared on Dragons’ Den in 2012 and received offers from three dragons, but the brand decided to go it alone and now the founders have their sights set on world domination, sassing up London and Dublin, one accessory at a time! Skinnydip’s accessible and affordable designs can be found in the basement floor at Arnotts. fashion 05

A
INTERVIEW
Annmarie O’Connor’s aim is to help you transform your wardrobe into an organised and clutter-free space, ensuring you never again utter those words ‘I have nothing to wear’. Annmarie wants to help you learn how to go from collecting rails of clothes you rarely wear to shopping effectively and building a wardrobe that works for you, whatever your lifestyle. Here she shares an excerpt from The Happy Closet that shows you how to detail the items lurking in your wardrobe and how to create a capsule wardrobe that will be interchangeable for 14 days.
TYPICAL TRIGGERS * Make a list of past garments that have caused you pain. Grab boxes of old photos, check your social media pages and ferret out anything that may be lurking in the darker recesses of your wardrobe or house (the attic, the boiler, under the floorboards!). * Index each item according to its discomfort type, e.g. physical: those jeans that can only be worn with the help of cocoa butter and a decade of the rosary; emotional: that bedazzled coin-hemmed kimono that makes you look like a rodeo clown; financial: the dress you bought for €500 to wear to your ex-boyfriend’s wedding and never wore again – who’s the clown now? * Next to each item, create a column listing the visual, emotional and external triggers (the person or event) that motivated the action and another column listing the final outcome of your purchase.
Wardrobe wizard
Ever wanted to properly sort out your wardrobe but don’t know where to start? Annmarie O’Connor shares some top tips from her new book, The Happy Closet
THE 10 KILO CHALLENGE Having trouble separating need from want? It’s time for some tough love – Michael O’Leary style. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is: * To create a capsule of interchangeable outfits for the next 14 days * To pack it all in a 10-kilo bag, not exceeding the maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.
Annmarie O’Connor
The case is open. Your mouth is open. Just how in the name of blazes are you supposed to fit all of that into a Ziploc bag, I hear you ask. Trust me, it can be done. The trick is to focus on the absolute essentials in order to bypass your territorial instinct. You know the old adage: give a woman a bag and she’ll fill it for a day. Teach a woman to pack and she’ll fill every damn bag

Cluttering your closet with fads and trends will only make you feel sluggish again. So why go there?
SO HOW DID IT GO? Are you feeling the levity of a well-needed detox or can I expect a bounty on my head? I’m genuinely hoping it’s the former. From my own experience with this·exercise (yes, I’ve done it) and from those of my clients, the most common reactions are as follows: Before: * Are you high? * Are you kidding me? I’m calling 999! * What if I need (insert random accessory of no importance)? * But I have a (insert random event of no importance) to go to this week. After: * I must be crazy. I can’t believe * I did that. * It was difficult but definitely worth it. * Now I get it. * I really don’t need all of this, do I? * I think I’m ready for another closet clear-out.
she owns (or something of that ilk). Let’s aim to flip that stereotype on its head. So where do you start? Simple. First, decide on a colour scheme – ideally two or three of the most common hues from your wardrobe. Using the guidelines below, adjust the contents according to your ratio of work, rest and play. It should look something like this: 2 bottoms 1 dressy bottoms 1 pair of jeans 2 tops 1 dressy top 1 T-shirt 1 coat 1 jacket 2 bags – 1 day, 1 night 1 sweater 1 dress 1 pair of evening shoes 2 pairs of day shoes Ta da! This is your working wardrobe for the next fortnight. Keeping a record of the process in your diary, note how this makes you feel and how your emotions (nervous, anxious, empty, relieved) evolve throughout the weeks.
Pay special attention to any items you thought you would miss: * Did you survive without those four extra pairs of jeans? * How does the new sense of space feel: freeing, bare, stark? * At the end of the two weeks, replenish and return the excess baggage to your closet. * Continue to track your feelings in your journal for another week and record how you now feel about having more instead of less: Is decision-making easier or more difficult? Did you find an opportunity for creativity in being limited by choice or was it just a drag? Did you quit? If so, why? Was the difficulty more to do with not having a solid foundation of basics, or having too many trends? Take time to scan through all your clothing: Do you still feel the same way about everything? Are there any pieces that don’t seem as necessary any more? If you are ready, enlist that frank friend with no filter to make a cull. Let go and exhale.
As with any withdrawal regime, the initial restriction period can be a bit of a doozy but it invariably leads to a greater sense of clarity, energy and flow. Once you start reintroducing clothes back into your closet, you’ll only want to wear those things that lend themselves to your sartorial well-being. Cluttering your closet with fads and trends will only make you feel sluggish again. So why go there? The challenge is in striking the balance between the staples that sustain wardrobe health with those sweet but shortlived fashion cravings. So, my lovelies, what’s it going to be?
