A vacation inpsired around the passion of Art Nouveau. We will wander some of eastern Europe's most notable Art Nouveau collections. You'll experience the culture that inspired the art and come to find an even deeper understanding of this pivotal movement that represented so much more than just a beautiful aesthetic. .

OVERVIEW

Day 1 - Travel Day

We will depart together from STL and travel to Prague on an overnight flight. Resting on the flight will be helpful as we will hit the ground running.

PACKING TIPS

Packing light! The more compact and convenient your luggage arrangement the better. Pack items that are multipurpose, and although is end of winter, temperature will likely only be 40F-50F a typically drizzly.

BRINGING HOME GOODIES

Don't worry on packing spac we will have plenty of opportunities to purchase a cheap additional bag to bring home items

Day 2 - Prague

Landing in Prague we will be a bit groggy from travel but our Art Nouveau experience will begin with the master.

Mucha Museum - we will have a private tour of the quaint but extensive collection of Alphonse Mucha's work.

DINNER: U Flecku

The oldest restaurant in Prague with it's famous brewery in the center of Prague. Dating back as far as 1499, the brewery has been brewing beer for over 500 years. It even survived the dark communist era and after the collapse of communism was returned to the original Brtnik family owners Order the dark beer & duck or pork!

Day 3 - Prague

We will start the morning with a walking & tram tour of Prague, showcasing the art of architecture through Art Nouveau.

Tour will conclude with lunch at the historic Municipal Building Cafe.

You then have the afternoon free to tour on your own.

Day 4 - Prague

We will depart early to beat the crowds and travel via Prague's famous tram system up to Castle Hill to self explore the world's largest ancient castle complex & the Strahov Monastary & Library.

LUNCH at the historic Strahov Monastary Brewery.

The late afternoon and evening are your own to explore the rich history that is to be found across Prague. Some of the evening activities we suggest and could assist with...

Day 5 - Cesky Krumlov

Early morning private transfer to this lovely, designated UNESCO Heritage town.

We will begin at the Egon Scheile Museum. An impressive collection of this infamous & influential Art Nouveau artist.

LUNCH: Hospoda Na Louzi, OR Krumlovsky mlyn

You'll then have the rest of the day to explore. We recommend:

As a student at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts (1907–09), Schiele was strongly influenced by the Jugendstil movement, the German Art Nouveau. He met Gustav Klimt, leader of the Vienna Sezession group, and the linearity and subtlety of Schiele's work owe much to Klimt's decorative elegance.

Day 6 - Cesky Klumlov

Another peaceful day in this beautiful town and you have a choice of afternoon activities.

Beer Spa... A truly unique Czech experience as you soak in stylish birch tubs where specially brewed beer warms the joints, relaxes muscles and also treats various skin conditions all with unlimited mugs of a craft brewed Glok. Then enjoy the rest of this beautiful wellness center.

Float the Valtava River in a unique wooden raft guided tour, and learn more about this historic town from a beautiful perspective.

Day 7 - Moravsky Krumlov

To Vienna

We will depart early to journey in quest to view the Slav Epic, Mucha's greatest & possibly most controversial work of art.

LUNCH in route to Vienna

Arrive To Vienna

DINNER: Gasthaus Zu den 3 Hacken... an historic ambience with traditional Viennese Cuisine.

Day 8 - Vienna

This morning we will start with a private tour at one of the worlds oldest modern art museums, Secession. , a time capsule for Art Nouveau, specifically Gustav Klimt's Beethoven Frieze, created in 1902.

Day 9 - Budapest

8 am Departure via private transfer to train station. Vienna to Budapest Direct - 2.5 hrs

Drop Bags at hotel.

And make our way to some traditional relaxation. The afternoon we will head to the historic The Gellért Thermal Baths, These thermal springs were used since as early as the 15th century but the beautiful Secession style building known the world over, is from 1918.

Day 10 - Budapest

Today is our last day in this old city of Art Nouveau.

We will start the morning at the Great Market Hall, this will be a fabulous place to graze and shop for final trinkets.

LUNCH at Great Market Hall

We then will meet our local guide for a final exploration of Art Nouveau, but in Budapest, and it's turbulent history and evolution of interpretation in this beautiful city.

DINNER:

Hungarian Secession = Art Nouveau....

In the old part of Budapest, this style can be seen on nearly every corner, represented by stunning buildings decorated with flamboyant patterns, curved doors and colourful tiles

We've had an amazing jouney through some of the most beautiful Art Nouveau sites in the world! Thank you so much for traveling with us and look forward to future adventures together!
