RUFSKIN STUDIO LAUNCHES FIRST RUFHOUSE MAG Online Lifestyle Magazine available on ISSUU

Rufskin prides itself on photos of their models and clothing. We seem to be constantly in the studio or on location photographing up and coming styles for our website or most recently our seasonal campaigns. This month’s newsletter debuts our first issue of RUFHOUSE MAG, an online magazine featuring our brands spin on fashion. It has been a long awaited idea that has finally seen the light. This launch issue landed us in the hot and dry deserts of Southern California near the infamous Joshua Tree National Park at the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum of Assemblage Sculpture. The next few pages are a preview of our fashion story where we used the museum’s theme for inspiration. Surf over to HERE to view the entire story titled PLANET PURIFOY.

CHANGING THE WORLD AND FASHION, ONE BOY BOY/PLUS 1 AT A TIME

Paul & Nick discuss gay/straight friendships, working out, and RUFSKIN How did you two become friends? A great mutual friend introduced us about 10 years ago and we’ve have been best friends for about a year. What sparked the whole BOY BOY/PLUS 1 concept? The concept came to us very organically. A string of gay bashings in the City were happening and that was when we decided we wanted to show there are friendships between gay and straight men and we should not lump all straight man into that category. Paul: Nick referred to gay people as “fags/homos” through his ignorance and I expressed to him how I didn’t like it. Nick: So at that moment I blurted out the phrase “BOYBOY” and Paul liked it. Paul: Immediately I said and you are my PLUS 1. Nick loved it and it’s a reflection of our friendship which is based on compromise and respect for one another. Nick, as a straight man, what’s different about your friendship with Paul? Our bond is more emotional than your average man-to-man friendship. Paul, why is it important for you to have friendships with both gay and straight men? It’s important to balance. As a gay man there is a balance. I need the emotional and the more masculine approach to things. I value both. As a BOY BOY, you get to play with both sides. When it comes to fashion, do you two feel there is a divide between how straight and gay men dress? Nick: Yes. Paul wears a lot more “nut huggers” aka skinny jeans…LOL I wear skinny jeans, but it’s not the main part of my wardrobe.

6

Paul: There’s a definite difference in the way

we dress, but yet, there are a lot of things that appeal to us both. It’s these differences that make us unique.

Workout is obviously a big part of your friendship with each other, what are your favorite RUFSKIN SPORT items?

Nick, how have your straight male friends reacted to your friendship with Paul?

We work out daily that’s our favorite thing to do together and because we work out all the time there isn’t a piece of RUFSKIN athletic clothing that we do not own. For bottoms we like CATCH, IGOR and SCOTT and for tops BOY BOY/ PLUS1, LOGAN, GAVIN and METRO. We are also in love with our MARTONE bikes.

My friends have never made comments, they know me and if Paul is my friend then that’s that. If they do feel a certain way, they don’t express it to me. Everyone knows me and what I’m about. Either way if comments were made, I wouldn’t allow it. Paul: In the gay community, the straight man is often seen as a sexual challenge. How do you handle other gay men’s perceptions of your relationship with Nick? People whom view them as a challenge are ____. It’s exhausting to deal with “horn-gry” BOYBOY`s who come across disrespectful and not to mention desperate. If a man tells you he’s straight, there should be no more questions period. If you’re asked to backoff you should respect that. Gay men want to be respected, so show the same respect in return. People then wonder why there’s this stigma. I’ve been in situations where I’ve had to step in and check people with, “he’s with me back off.” We go out together to have a good time and you are not a factor, nor do we want to entertain your “horngryness.” In the end we don’t care what anyone thinks!! The world is changing, barriers are breaking every day, the Pope even said that being transgender is not a sin. Do you think that BOY BOY/PLUS 1 friendships are the wave of the future? Paul: Absolutely. I think these types of friendships are needed to do away with stigmas. You should not be viewed as gay because you have gay friends. The more of these types of friendships the closer we get to unity. We balance each other and love comes in many forms and is not always sexually charged. Nick: It shows sincere friendships come from anywhere.

What has been the best thing you two have learned from each other thus far? We motivate each other and have learned to express who we are to one another. We’ve grown a lot in the past year and that has to do with our friendship because it’s honest and uncensored. Hence the BOY BOY/ PLUS 1. We love each other and have an unbreakable bond.

“Love comes in many forms and is not always sexually charged.”

CHERIE LILY

Artist on the rise keeping it hot with music, fitness and harnesses When did you first start singing? My family loves music, so it was always on in the car and in the house. I was singing along as soon as I could speak! I remember being so excited in the 2nd grade when my school music teacher gave me a solo in the Christmas show. That was probably the first time I felt support to pursue music. Fitness plays a big part in your life, how do fitness and music come together in your work? I love hitting the gym and working out my body, it makes me feel alive! I teach group fitness at multiple locations at CRUNCH GYM in NYC. Music is my lifeline to making my classes as exciting and energetic as possible. I love being a DJ. I make custom mixes for every single class to keep the classes fresh and exciting! I also release 30 minute mega-mixes as free downloads off my website so people can get audio inspiration from me when they can’t make it to class.

How do you juggle your career, a marriage, and touring? I’m very blessed to be able to have a career in two professions that I truly love, music and fitness. I’ve found a way to make them feed off each other. My music career helps boost my fitness career and vice versa. I created a genre for what I do, called Houserobics, which combines the

8

high-energy music I create with the soul purpose to make you move! As for my marriage, I have an incredible soul mate named Andrew W.K. We’ve been together since 2005 and married since 2008. I’m his hype-woman and back-up singer, so we get to travel and tour a lot together. We compliment each other more than depend on each other. I think that may be one of the reasons it works so well. You are just coming off a tour, what’s been your favorite city to perform in? There are so many wonderful cities to perform in and every show is different depending on whom I’m touring with, but I’ve had some incredible show experiences in Europe, especially in Dublin, Berlin, and Glasgow! They party hard and like to have a good time! Why did you choose RUFSKIN to be part of your latest video & promotional shoot? I found out about Rufskin through my love of harnesses. Rufskin has some beautiful and unique leather pieces that I love. I wanted my dancers to look sexy, strong, and show a lot of body in my upcoming videos and promotional images. Rufskin was the perfect match! What’s the sexiest item a man can wear and why?

I love a sexy scent. If a man smells good, I want to be close to him. Cologne that compliments your natural scent can be the sexiest thing ever…and if he’s half-naked and in a Rufskin harness, that doesn’t hurt either. ;) What’s next on the horizon for Cherie Lily? I’m releasing two new music videos very soon, one for my track “Kiss My Lips” and one for “Body” off The Dripping Wet EP, which was released earlier this year. I’ll also be releasing a “Kiss My Lips” remix package with some super hot remixes by Richie Beretta, Vjuan Allure, and Mike Q. I’ve got my second Music to Burn 30 minute Mega Mix coming out as a free download off my website and Soundcloud as well. I’m also throwing a fantastic new monthly party at Santos Party House in NYC called PARTYOKE, which is a great platform to showcase all the amazing talent in NYC. This fall, I’ll be touring with Andrew W.K. and working on my full-length album. In the fitness world, I’ll be launching a class for CRUNCH NYC called The Hangover, which is an intense abs class that utilizes hanging silks to fire up your six-pack. There’s a lot brewing! Stay connected with me via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and my website for more info! Thank you for your love and support!

“We will be the #1 designer bike in the world one day.” - Lorenzo Martone

MARTONE + RUFSKIN: ENJOY THE RIDE!

Interview with Lorenzo Martone, Owner of Martone Cycling Co. Questions by Marcy DePina What was the inspiration behind Martone Cycling? The idea came from a simple need - I moved to the West Village in NYC and had to park my bike in my living room so immediately had a design epiphany - I needed something contemporary looking. I’m influenced certainly by Apple and its clean design, monochromatic esthetic and qualitative components …. Why do you feel cycling for fitness and a mode of transportation is important, especially in cities? During the design process - I also fell in love with so many layers of biking - including

the these two you mentioned. Bikes are an ingenious invention, they take you from A to B in no time and in addition you burn calories while doing it - they give you sexy legs - I mean - what else do you want? :) You have a unique design, that clearly shows a passion for fashion, tell us about it and explain the term duomatic brand. I love fashion and fashion is my background. I worked in advertising and PR for 10 years before having the bike idea. So I definitely bring a bit of that world to the bike industry. For me, your bike should be an extension of who you are, of your personal style. The hub is duomatic - which means the bikes have TWO gears that change automatically so the user doesn’t have to worry about changing gears himself. It’s produced by

SRAM and we are the only bike brand that uses this technology - I feel we were pretty innovative for embracing that so early! Why did you choose to partner with RUFSKIN as a distributor for your bikes? Because I believe the RUFSKIN man is like the Martone Cycling guy; guys that like well designed objects, that appreciate style, and have a strong personality. They might like a bit of attention too. :) What’s the one thing you want the world to know about Martone Cycling Co.? That we will be the #1 designer bike in the world one day - and for the early adaptors - I promise we are here to stay! Now let’s enjoy the ride!
